I recently had a game where opponent had last horseman and I pulled out all of mine and killed 2 leaving both our last horsemen. I rushed mine into his (only way to kill mine off) so both died at same time but I got defeated and death animation only triggered for me. Is this because he had his last horseman out first? I would have assumed both death rattles would trigger at the same time and result in a draw .
Unfortunately for you, they don't trigger at the same time. The attacker deals damage first, then the defender retaliates. Likewise, the defender dies first, then the attacker. These are very obscure rules, so don't worry about them too much. But that's how Hearthstone works. Good game tho!

Last play is the incident.
If both died at the same time, the deathrattle from the oldest on the battlefield triggers first. So, I assume he played his before you.
