I think this nerf is related to pirate warrior not control one. Since it's give a huge advantage at turn 2 plus dread corsair
That was obviously the idea but without war axe I have no way of dealing with early drops as a control warrior. I think it nerfs control worse than pirates honestly
I feel like they had Wild in mind with this nerf. Basically, Pirate will be T1 in wild for forever. This helps.
I don't mind having basic cards that are outclassed bye expac cards. That's the way it should be, honestly. Also, now there's room for different low mana warrior weapons.

I understand the perspective of nerfing PW with this, but for Warrior (in general and specifically Tempo and CW) it's not healthy by any means, or at least not now. And it doesn't mean anything if Bow is played in hunter. Hunter has a lot of early game, while warrior except for pirates has almost none. Maybe nerfing axe with next expansion providing some solid early game would have been better.
Just crafted golden Nzoth control in Wild, but without axe CW is not playable, you can't stand against aggro without this, Mana wyrm, tunnel trogg, priests cleric turn 1 is uncounterable now

The main complaint is that all those cards have additional, but situational, benefits. For sure Shadowblade is the most useful. But there is one thing that none of those classes have that warrior, and especially pirate warrior has - weapon buffs. Upgrade! and Bloodsail Cultist are easy upgrades the rest of the classes don't have. And they don't see play in Control Warrior. So it actually is a PW specific nerf, as it makes it harder to upgrade and get that extra 5-6 damage (1+1+4). From a control perspective, it is a little worse than the other weapons, but all those cycle out.
At this rate, they might as well just take Classic cards out of standard.
