On and off player since 2014, been playing arena since then as well. Please help me make sense of the current state of arena, I don't understand it at all. I draft a decent deck (about 72-75 score) and it fails miserably 1-3, I get stomped by OP spells. I draft a weak deck with lots of low level minions and get to 8-9 wins. Current average is about 5 (used to be a little higher before). The thing that I find really upsetting though is that I can no longer even tell if I'm doing well in a game: I'm crushing my opponent and all of a sudden they play a super-overpowered card (Ultimate Infestation, Cobalt Scalebane, Volcano, Spike Steed, etc) and its gg. I'm finding it hard to get better because I don't even know what it is I'm doing wrong - it just feels RANDOM. Are there any tricks in drafting that I'm not aware of? (I tried picking the first 2 cards for synergy and that doesn't work predictably at all.) Should I be drafting for a perfect curve (and what is that at the moment?), for value, for synergy or for tempo?
Many many threads about this topic around already, i feel like we keep copy+pasta the same thing ...
HS is all about the board control in KFT, since most commonly drafted OP neutrals all have HUGE impact on game when u have the board, draft for a decent early game, rather than late game value, or u will never get to play those value cards anyway, since u will be already dead.
Stop throwing around deck scores, if u want to talk about how good or bad deck is for current meta, post a deck list.

Thank you, so what is a good number of 1s, 2s, and 3s for a 'decent early game'? I try to never have more than 5 cards in the 6+ range - is that too little or too much?

Ur curve should Go uo with 1-3 1 Drops to 5-7 2 drops and 5-7 3 Drops

Than IT should Go down
Thats mby a bit too much.
There is no number for 1-drops, just pick the good ones when they come along (Glacial Shard, Mistress of Mixtures etc), if u have like 3-4 rly good 1-drops, u can cut on 2-drops a little bit. Dont pick the garbage just for the sake of having any 1-drop.
2-drops r good to have about 6, also try to pick only the good ones in the early stages of draft, later on pick so u have at least 5.
3-drops r very arguable ... depends on the class honestly, u can have 3, u can have 7. Again, try to pick only good ones early on, but have at least 3-4 later on, but its not the end of the world if end up with 1, if u have decent number of 2s.
U can have more of everything, but it depends on your class and quality of the minions themselves and how well they go into your deck's strategy, there isnt rly a number we can give u that u should follow every time 100 %.
a good curve is realy important, also take Every board clear that you can get, if you have not played arena in a while try to go more for tempo (value if you know you can handle it), a good excample is warlock; make a zoo deck and i promisse you if you have a realy low kurve (15 cards 3 or less mana) you go easy 5 wins synergie picks snowballs so hard (so keep that in mind)
Board clear? What's a one of those, then? Not had one offered in Arena for a long time. And I love the idea of getting a good curve. You either get offered not enough early game (we're talking 2-3 2-drops, no 1-drops offered throughout the entire draft), or just no quality lategame. Generally, number of wins is more determined by your opp's decks than yours; you get a lot of people with decks that work half the time - but when they work, they are OP (we're talking people actually getting synergies going off, from dragon to elemental, curves of legendary cards from Malchezaar, random DKs at 2-2, and similar). Hit one or two of those and your arena's pretty much done.
I often end up heavy on 3s and 4s to make up for my lack of 2s, which works passably most of the time, then gets obliterated by decks managing to curve. Decks with no decent lategame and no really strong early game can generally go in the bin, as you'll hit nothing but taunt walls.
jea i know exactly what you mean, my last paly run a few days ago got 2 1 dropps and 4 2 dropps, 2 weapons 0 aoe, i got offered also 3 legendarys 2 of them were yust realy relay slow... startet 0-2 since tempo rules over those decks. still went 11-3 at the end, i can realy say thanks to all the opponents that tradet every minion on my side, lategame was easy wins
That is a rly strong deck, 2x tarim too, cool :d
btw paladin does have that advantage/disadvantage where most of your opponents will trade for every minion u have, since leaving a minion up for a paladin can literally cost u the game. So its an advantage when u actually cannot utilize it and they give u too much room to breathe, but disadvantage when u need the minion to stick and they still trading unfavorably instead goin face :)

Thanks, I did try this once recently and it worked well, I will try it again when presented with warlock. But I feel like I should evolve beyond the easy low curve strategy, eventually you hit a few board clears :)
Great advice, that is exactly what I have a lot of trouble with all the time: 'Good Curve + Some "Bombs" rather than "Value"+"decent curve"'. It's just hard to gauge the moment when i need to switch from picking for value to picking for curve. I mean when I see this: https://hsreplay.net/cards/#gameType=ARENA it really does look like Bonemare owns Arena, but you are right, the variance in value matters less and less at some point.
Scores matters absolutely. It's just that you also have to pay attention to your curve. A bog creeper is exponentially better than Lord of the Arena, for simple reasons such as it doesn't die to an on-curve Firelands, it doesn't die to a Boulderfist for free, etcetc.

Why do people Always Need help for such things?

Thank you! Wow - by that measure, all my drafts are top-heavy! This means that 11-17 out of 30 cards should be <4. That seems excessive, no?

Thank you, this helps :) I'm pretty sure I am not missing on any amazing minions in the draft, but the overall balance is hard to get.
IMHO score lists are misleading right now.
If you rate cards on a 1-100 scale, card like Bonemare or Frost Lich Jaina are so game-warping that
Scores don't matter that much, while Mad Bomber is clearly better than Frostwolf Grunt, in the end it won't matter as much as the difference between a Bog Creeper and a random minion like Lord of the Arena
