I'm currently running a variation of N'Zoth Control. You can hold off most aggro decks with a decent mulligan, and the combined strength of the Jade Golems and a strong N'zoth drop can overtake control. I'm experimenting with the exact makeup, but most of the cards are core to the N'zoth variant. Anyone else giving control a try? The deck has a slight learning curve, but I enjoy playing it much more than midrange or aggro.
I've also tried a non N'Zoth based Control Shaman. I threw 2 small time buccaneers and patches in for some early board contention, and focused on the Jade synergy for late game. Similar control mechanisms.
I tried a N'zoth list for some time but in 3 games in a row I got Reno mages who got the polymoprh potion of Kazakuz and turned my N'zoth turn into nothing. I had more success using a bogchamp list but is a lot more dificult to play it right, too many priests with entomb, you have to be really smart and lucky to beat them.
I guess it depends of the list you are using too and your gameplay style. Around rank 10~8 I was meeting a lot of Kazakuz decks, mages and warlocks with got me stuck in these ranks for quite some time. When I switched to Bogchamp list I started doing a lot better simply because the polymorph doens't matter that much, you have a lot of big dudes and you never need to go all in.
Currently am at 7-1 with this control shaman deck. Fares really well versus pirate warriors etc. even dragonpriest. Only loss was versus a renomage which is a coinflip. I did not have White Eyes and replaced him with Soggoth the Slitherer.

The mass poly pot from Kazakus seem to completely negate N'Zoth. And the chances of them getting it are about 50%, now couple it with Brann or even brann+manic soulcaster and it's almost guaranteed. So you're left with the other big dudes and while I wouldn't say it's unwinnable, with the amount of answers and their own threats, they seem to be heavily favoured in the matchup. I use Grom, Justicar, Ysera + the usual N'Zoth and friends.
My idea of how you should play is to force poly on something smaller like Sylvanas or Cairne, then play Ysera and hope she carries you without them being able to answer it. I guess you'd also need to wait for them to play their Sylvanas if they run it, because that can mess this gameplan up completely. I'm not entirely sure as I havent met that many mages who know what theire doing. My winrate is currently something like 7-3 vs mages but most of them were bad - I felt rather desperate against the two or three mages who actually knew how to play correctly. Maybe there is better strat that I didn't figure out yet, which is why I made the thread here few days ago.
But yeah, if they don't get mass poly pot, it's gg.
My other thought was that Elise list may be better because you can drop threats in slower pace, but I've yet to try that out (In that particular matchup). Though, last time I tried Elise, it seemed to be doing worse in other matchups, compared to N'Zoth version - especially jade druid, because if youre to have some chances of winning, you need to mess them up quickly or create a huge board that they can't deal with. And the N'Zoth version Im running does that better. So I'm hesitant
When you mention Bogchamp list, are you still talking about warrior? I couldn't find any.
No, I thought you were talking about shaman decks. http://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/656687-charged-hammer-bogchamp this is the list I'm using. Control warrior is really weak right now, every time I played against one on ladder was a completely one side game with them barely able to defend themselves, plus is insta concede against jade druid.
I've been struggling with all control shaman variants between rank 4 and rank 2. You either have a list that counters reno decks - like a Jade control shaman (running just storms for aoe) , or a list that counters aggro (running the Hallazeal/ED package). Seeing as you run into both the same amount of time, you're getting nowhere fast on the ladder. Control Shaman is in a bad spot right now.

Since when reno decks are not controll?

Malygos shaman is pretty good, can tech in secret eater just to beat reno mage.
