twilight Welp is currently awful. There simply aren't enough dragons... yet. It may work in the future, but I think it pales in comparison to Dragon Consort. Resurrect is great also, but it end, its more useful either in late game or right after a good 3 drop.

Disagree. It is a very nice card, far from awful and also a comparison with Dragon Consort is completely out of place. Not gamebreaking, yes, we could use a 2 drop instead of a 1 drop, yes, but nevertheless I believe it is fine.

Lol. Sure, a few times I haven't been able to activate them but I usually can or can find another solution. Also they activate each other and the Technician. I really like them and the Dragon Eggs. In Dragon decks I think they're superior to Chows.
Awful is a stretch, yes, but with the standards of cards lately, its not worth running. Fine just doesn't cut it. The drawback of Zombie Chow makes up nicely simply because it synergies' with Auchenai Soulpriest. The comparison to Dragon Consort was because they were both class specific dragons. I love priest, yes, but if there was a competition between dragon decks, paladin would make a better one, in my opinion.

You need quite a lot of dragons to run the whelp, probably in the 8-10 range at minimum to get him in your opener with another dragon consistently. Yes, zombie chow is better, but you can run both. As for the two drop issue, I think there are plenty of good neutral minions that can serve that role:
Loot Hoarder is expendable, but great on turn 2, especially against warlock/hunter-based aggro.
Priest is also one of the only classes out there that can actually play Mana Wraith and leverage its ability because it can protect this guy from hero abilities. In the meantime that this effect is ongoing, we can keep spending our mana on all the non-creature spells in our arsenal that are proactive (Resurrect, Thoughtsteal,Power Word: Shield and Velen's Chosen) and the reactive removal.
We can also play the Annoy-o-Tron or the Unstable Ghoul if we are in the market for early defense or high defensive speed.
There's no reason why we cannot play any of our own 2-mana in faction minions or the very common ones like knife juggler and his ilk.
But we do have another good card. The resurrect card is a powerful little beast of a card. It demands that you build your deck to make good use of it, but when you do: it can give you great tempo and redundancy in your cards. I really like its design. Resurrect is not amazing in your deck with lots of battlecrys like the cabal shadow priest (though a 2 mana 4/5 is still fine, really) or azure drake. I think it is a plus if a new card is not an auto-include in existing decks. For the good of the game I prefer that all new cards ask for new decks to shine in. It is just more exciting that way to me.
Twilight Whelp is working out fine for me. I run 2x Twilight and 2x Zombie Chow, and I have 8 dragons in my deck so my dragon synergy cards always get value. I'm using Dragonkin Sorcerer and it's mediocre, but people sure are scared of it. Most of my opponents were desperate to kill it immediately even though I probably wouldn't be getting value from it 9 times out of 10. Twilight Whelp isn't garbage like I thought it was, but you won't be able to go light on the dragons as a priest, because getting the +2 health is so important. I'm thinking of dropping the Dragonkin and just putting in Twilight Drakes. I should probably also get rid of Velen's Chosen and put in a 2 mana card... maybe Shrinkmeister to make sure my Zombie Chows and Whelps survive trades? Right now, my ideal turn 2 as a dragon priest is coining out a Blackwing Tech...
so according priest.... i will play only dragon priest this month in ranked and prove it can reach legend. i got 2 ranks today but i had terrible luck losing many games where i had the advantage on board and hand just because of face damage or unbelievable RNG. i outplayed many paladins, mages and zoo even though the hunter matchup hurts me cause it relies only on my mulligan and RNG. i play 2x whelp and 1x chow and i play 3 big dragons. well we will see, but if i managed to get 2 ranks with this cancerous shit i faced today im sure this can reach legend
Yeah losing to a hunter as a priest just feels... wrong, which is why I started using Sunfury Protector as my 2 mana minion. Taunting up a Hungry Dragon is great, and using her on turn 2 is definitely fine too. One game when I had the coin, she taunted up a Zombie Chow and a Twilight Whelp on turn 2... which makes aggro decks very sad.
With the Blackrock expansion a dragon priest deck is viable. With the neutral legendaries such as emperor thaurissan, nefarian, and chrommagus priest can finally make a good dragon themed deck.
