GREETINGS!

My name is Novalicious and today i am showcasing my variation of Control Priest. Priest is considered to be one of the weakest classes in Hearthstone but i am here to tell you that i don't fully agree with that. Sure they have problems with 4 attack creatures when it comes to removing them but it's really not that bad. I have been trying a lot of priest decks for a long time now and this is what made the cut for me (and hopefully for you).

Card Choices

2x Circle of Healing: Use in conjuction with Injured Blademaster / Auchenai Soulpriest. Some combos are: Injured Blademaster + Circle of Healing ( This can be devastating for your opponent if you can do it on turn 2/3 ). Another one is Auchenai Soulpriest + Circle of Healing for a 2 mana Flamestrike.

2x Northshire Cleric: Your draw engine. You need to be really careful when you consider playing this one. Personally i never throw it on the board on it's own on turn 1 without following it with a Power Word: Shield. When you play this card you need to utilize it on the same turn as well. This is important or you will run out of cards and fall behind.

2x Power Word: Shield: Another card draw. It really shines against aggro with Wild Pyromancer and if you can combine it with Northshire Cleric + Circle of Healing too, even better.

2x Crazed Alchemist: This card makes things a lot easier. There are a handful of combos you can perform with this one. You flat out kill Mana Tide Totem, Flametongue Totem, Shield Bearer, Doomsayer. Combined with Shadow Word: Death you can take care of Druid of the Claw, Chillwind Yeti etc. You can take it one step further and include Power Word: Shield as well to take care of 3 mana cost minions against Miracle Rogue since your Shadow Word: Death is not going to be of much use in this match-up. Sometimes you can use it with Cabal Shadow Priest but that doesn't happen very often. Also usable on Ysera for a 12/4 unexpected strike.

2x Wild Pyromancer: Great card against aggro. Combine it with Power Word: Shield or spells in general. Pretty self-explanatory.

1x Big Game Hunter: A handful of people are running Ragnaros but even if they don't you can still combine this with Power: Word Shield or Crazed Alchemist. Superb against Handlocks. I almost always find value for this card.

1x Earthen Ring Farseer: Heal yourself or a minion. You can use it as a 3 damage nuke if you have Auchenai Soulpriest out.

2x Injured Blademaster: Good with Circle of Healing or just hero power. Other than that a solid minion.

2x: Shadow Word: Death: Takes care of creatures with 5+ Attack. Look at Crazed Alchemist for combos.

2x Thoughtsteal: This one is similar to Arcane Intellect but instead you draw from your opponent's deck. Except for the fact that it instantly gives you 2 cards, it also gives you an insight as to what your opponent is playing and what to expect. Mostly shines against Control Decks.

2x Auchenai Soulpriest: I would only play this one on it's own out of desperation. You want to utilize this card when you play it. Combine it with Circle of Healing if you can.

1x Faceless Manipulator: Since you have a handful of legendaries in this deck, you can make use of this easily. You can also use it to copy an opponent's minion and then remove it.

1x Cabal Shadow Priest: Stealing a harvest golem always feels so nice. Not much to say about this card. I absolutely love it but i find 2 of them a bit slow.

1x Cairne Bloodhoof: A very durable minion and a good candidate for Faceless.

2x Holy Fire: Takes care of 5hp minions like Chillwind Yeti / Fire Elemental and heals you in the process.

1x The Black Knight: With so many taunts around in the ladder, you will almost always find value for this card. So many people are running taunts nowadays to counter Miracle/Zoo.

1x Baron Geddon: Superb card against shamans and since this deck isn't running Holy Nova, you will find a use for it. You don't really wanna play this one if you are not going to kill anything. Also baiting hard removal on this guy is good for your Ragnaros the Firelord / Ysera.

1x Ragnaros the Firelord: One of your big threats. Use it wisely.

1x Ysera: Once again, a big threat. If not removed fast it just carries you to victory. You can sometimes combine it with Crazed Alchemist for a 12 dmg swing.

1x Mind Control: This card is pure awesomeness vs control and heavy legendary decks like Control Warrior. Also really good against Handlock. Basically you want to use this card to take one of the most powerful minions of your opponent and change the tide to your favor. Not many people expect you to run Mind Control nowadays.

Cards that didn't make it

Holy Nova: I find this card to be way too slow for what it does. Against aggro it hardly does anything, let alone against Control. You're better off without it.

Prophet Velen: It's a decent card but if you run it you also need to run Mind Blast and Holy Smite. I have tried it many times but i found that i am better off without any of them. You already have a handful of ways to finish your opponent.

Mulligan

As a general rule of thumb aim for Circle of Healing / Auchenai Soulpriest. If i have 1 of those in my starting hand, i start looking for the 2nd piece of the combo.

Against aggro getting Wild Pyromancer / Power Word: Shield / Northshire Cleric / Doomsayer is really good. Look for Auchenai Soulpriest / Circle of Healing as well.

Conclusion

This deck is not easy to play and requires you having access to a handful of legendaries. On top of that it's a really fun deck with many powerful combos. It's not super great against aggro but it does its job. You hardly ever lose against any control deck.

Thanks a lot guys for taking the time to read this and if requested i can go more in depth about what to do against each match-up. Feel free to ask any questions here or in game ( Novalicious#2906 ).

Take care!
