Patron warrior has been my favorite deck in the game since its first release and my heart was broken when it got nerfed but i continued to hit legend with it even after nerf but for the last 3 month the deck was unplayable because of the mid shamans that were dominating in ladder and now when finally when ladder finally got new fun (cancer) decks patron warrior can breathe!!!
This deck is crushing new pirate shaman pirate warrior and pirate miracle rogue which are dominating the ladder at the moment
GUIDE: Firstly i would like to say thank you to all of those who upvoted the deck and left positive thoughts about it :)
Basically this was built as a tempo deck, but that doesn't mean you should just put everything you get on the table!
Warlock: Most of the warlocks are Reno Jackson based decks, but sometimes you can run into zoo lock.
Reno Warlock is not a bad match up fro this deck tho everyone thinks otherwise. Basically you should show cards like Fiery War Axe Frothing Berserk Kor'kron Elite and try to make him use his Hellfire as he will think that you are either dragon warrior or pirate warrior with bad start and he will definitely give that Hellfire away to keep the board control! So basically you start spinning that Grim Patron after Hellfire but i would suggest to keep 1 of Inner Rage for Grommash Hellscream combo wombo :)
Zoo lock is much easier to play against! Basically you just have to try out tempo him or just not to lose board till the turn when you spam Grim Patron :) In 90% of the time they concede the next turn because they do not have any answer to your board :)
Warrior: Lets face the truth 99.9% of the warriors right now are pirate warriors which is very good match up for us too :) Most of the time you just out tempo him and that Alley Armorsmith wins you the game :) Just try to survive and make valuable trades and you will win the game automatically :)
Control warrior is one of the hardest match ups for patron warrior I would even say near impossible to win it :( so much armor+ so many removals just crush us :( But there is a little chance of winning and that is only if warrior didn't find his removals and you can start face racing him with turn 8 Grommash Hellscream + Inner Rage lethal... But that is too hard to pull off and luckily you will not run into control warrior so many times :)
Paladin: Not so hard but not so easily to win :) Right now it's either Anyfin Can Happen paladin or the new buff you hand paladin :) Murloc pally is harder match up than buff your hand pally because of the Equality + Consecration or Wild Pyromancer combo that kills our tempo but doesn't crush us like control warrior. Basically you shouldn't go all in on a board but do not be greedy too and as always our daddy+his rage will finish it off for us :)
Buff paladin is easier to play because it more of an aggro deck than control and everyone knows how good patron warrior is against aggro decks :) Play the same way you play against pirate warrior.. Control the board till you completely dominate on it and then start face racing him :)
Hunter: 100% of them are midrange hunters tho i haven't met a single hunter this season you still might run into him :) Hunter is also not a hard match up as they have lack of a aoe spells which means it will be nearly impossible to clear your Grim Patron and that's when you win the game :)
Druid: You only win this if you out tempo him... nothing else will help you win druid :( Most of the times they concede if you have that early board spam and then keep the pressure by playing Grim Patron and starting spamming him early on!
Rogue: Very easy to play against :) try to get the board till turn 4-6 and then start face racing him :) 70-80% of the time they concede by turn 7-8
Mage: If it's a Reno Mage that can be instantly concede :( But you can win him only if you get perfect draws and kill him by turn 5-6.
Tempo Mage is lot more easier to play against :) It is very important to keep the board under the pressure as much as possible and not let Flamewaker live for too long :) This match up depends mostly on his draws and your trading skills
Priest: Well it's 50/50 with a dragon priest and 20(patron)/80(priest) with Reno priest :)
Dragon priest isn't hard to beat if you can stabilize on the board and play around that Dragonfire Potion and try to live till that Varian Wrynn drop because most of the times it's very hard for them to come back after Varian :)
Reno Priest at one point is easier and on another point is harder to play against.. As it is harder for him to get the card he needs because he only has 1 copy of each card he still has Reno Jackson and it is very hard for us to kill him after he places the rich guy :) Try to face race him and kill him by turn 6-7 and DO NOT LEAVE Priest of the Feast on the board for more than 1-2 turns!!!
Shaman: Midrange Shaman is one of the hardest match ups for us but not unwinnable! Try to bait for Lightning Storm you can even give 1 patron spam to get rid of it because most of them either run 1 storm or don't run it at all!
Pirate shaman is much easier because it doesn't run any aoe spells that CAN harm us and they don't run Hex which makes cards like Sen'jin Shieldmasta and Alley Armorsmith very strong cards in this match up :) basically you win with spamming the board with patrons at turn 6-7 while he doesn't have/run Lightning Storm
WOW GUYS THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR 50+ UPVOTES!!! I REALLY APPRECIATE IT!!!
Mulligan Guide: Well we finally hit the spot of 50 upvotes and as i promised here is the mulligan guide for this beautiful deck of mine :)
Warlock: Against both Reno and Zoo lock you want to mulligan Fiery War Axe Frothing Berserker and Armorsmith because you need tempo against both variations of warlock!
Warrior: 99.9% of the warriors we meet are pirate warriors so you should mulligan Fiery War Axe Armorsmith and Ravaging Ghoul
Paladin: I haven't met any paladin this season but i guess mulligan against them should be Fiery War Axe Acolyte of Pain Frothing Berserker
Rogue: Rogue is one of the easiest match ups :) Mulligan Fiery War Axe Armorsmith Frothing Berserker
Hunter: Fiery War Axe Armorsmith Frothing Berserker
Mage: Fiery War Axe Armorsmith Acolyte of Pain
Shaman: Fiery War Axe Armorsmith Ravaging Ghoul
Druid: Fiery War Axe Execute Armorsmith
What should I replace Varian Wrynn with? I would like to play this deck on Standard (I'm playing own Wild version).
You should take out Sylvanas Windrunner and put 2 Bloodhoof Brave
I cant have varian and gromash?any replace?
Hi sorry for late response i was very busy for the past few weeks! Gromm is irreplaceable but if you dont have dust to craft him i would suggest 2 Bloodhoof braves instead of Varian and Gromm
Thank you im tryit.
First time not bad (okey rank 23-22 Fail) i cant play so many time and lose my rank :(
Dude, if you think luring the Hellfire will grant you patron board you're just so so much wrong. BesidesHellfire renolock runsShadowflame, Abyssal Enforcer, Bloodmage Thalnos +Demonwrath combo, Twisting Nether,Doomsayer,Kazakus potion dmg to all either 5 or 10 mana/transform all to sheep/, lucky Dirty Rat pull.
IMHO renolock is quite bad match up. The best bet is crazy frothing berserker and finish him in the early turns. The deck does not have strong early game besides the berserker. Renolock peaks at 4 mana drops. If you let him live long enough he gets in control and you're finitto.
edit: added clears I didn't think of
out of 12 reno locks i faced i lost only to 3 ;) i have over 2k wins with patron warrior so pls dont tell me what are bad match ups for him) i know better
Let me quote you from 15 december
Please, tell me how you went from 1k games to 2k wins with this deck in less than a month? And during those roughly 1500+ games you lost only once to renolock to make total losses of 3?
Sir, you're so full of $h!t. Maybe lying about your winrates and games played makes you feel better about yourself but please don't try mislead everybody else.
The title says "EASY" rank 5 yet you keep on talking how pro you are, how you reached legend 14 seasons, and how everyone who disagrees with you is not experienced enough to make the deck and how many games/wins you have. So how is that easy since you claim you need to expert on the deck?
No need to reply, really. It's rather obvious.
Man i play both wild and standart and in wild you dont meet any of reno lock and this season i got only 2 renolocks i won 1 lost 1.... about 600 wins last season in wild with this deck and like 250-300 wins in standart... i play hs about 14 hours a day i dont care about what you say because ppl who know me know that i play hs for a long time know and 99% of the time i only play patron so bye bye i honestly dont care about your opinion have a good day
What is replecament Varian Wryn ? Ysera ?
No if you dont have Varian take out Sylvanas too and put 2 Bloodhoof brave
Hi man, i am a patrons player since the patrons release, and i tried many times to let them come back in standard.
I replaced two senjin for two chillwind yeti, i don't care about taunts in a tempo deck and i really hate shadow pain. (but this doesn't matter)
But i want to ask you a very important thing: armorsmith, usually is the win condition vs aggrodeck (now, patches decks) developing patrons and whirlwind effects on the board getting armor from armorsmith, and i find incorrect to use only one copy of her. And another reason is, in this meta, i find really bad for a tempo deck having no 2drops.
When i tried to bring back patrons in standard, one of my problems was i could not gain tempo on turn 2 (unstable ghoul would be perfect in this meta), so i tried everything: berserker, acidicswampooze, and other 2 drops. I also tried to replace unstable with tentacle n'zoth, but it's just bad).
Thank you for your future answer and your thoughts about this and sorry for my bad english.
I add a note that confirms what i've write before:
- i am having pretty good success vs controls deck (because of kor'krons/frothings/sylvanas/grommash and varian pulls out of tempo) than vs aggro, just because i can't gain so much tempo in early game if i don't draw fiery turn 2 and ghoul turn 3. Sometimes Alley saves me the game, but i have to praise to get lucky and the opponent has no lethal.
- i'm not saying the deck is bad, i am having a lot of fun and i am 64% winrate by far (and i thanks to you to awaken in me the desire to play patrons another time), but i am only rank 8 for now, and i can already predict what problems i will meet at high levels. The solid 2 drop is too much important in this meta if you play tempo/midrange.
MidShaman has Totem Golem
MidWarrior has Alex'sChamp(dragons) or BloodsailRader(hybrid dragons-pirates)
MidPaladin doesn't exist because of Minibot
DragonPriest (similar to a midrange deck, but with more value than reactivity) has WyrmrestAgent
ZooDruid has Saber or Faerie Dragon
I add another note: i replaced chillwind yetis with double senjin. I am loosing too matches vs aggro.
But the problem still remains in early game, not in midgame.
Sorry for the late response i was a little busy this month.... You should keep Sen'jin as he is important against aggro match ups and you can take out Varian and add 2nd Amorsmith you face more aggro than control :) but i personaly keep playing this version because i face more reno decks than aggro
He is very special in this deck... If you change him you should change Sylvanas too :) put 2 Bloodhoof Brave instead of Sylvanas and Varian that will give you more tempo but less late game
Nice deck, I also like playing Patron.
What you think about Finley? 1 mana 1/3 and a chance to use fire ball should be very good right?
Thanks for the good words :) Nope not good :) against aggro decks you would want to have armor up instead of ping :)
