Hi guys, this is an Avenging Wrath divine shield paladin I made. (no Karazhan cards)
UPDATE(8/19):
1.Blood knight was changed back into argent horse rider.
2. One argent protector was changed to one flamethrower to fight for board against other aggros, but totally optional.
3. Even after the new expansion, I am keeping the decklist as is. Moroes, or silvermoon portal is less efficient than what they would replace.
4. Despite the new expansion, it is still very capable of reaching Legend. I am too lazy to do it, but reached rank 4 in 8 days without much difficulty, which proves it.
Using this deck, I was able to get to legend rank in 7 days(North American Server). It took me a day from rank 17to 5, and then 6 days from then. I just got to legend yesterday, and am at 517th place right now.(7/18/2016)
PROOF: Some of you have asked for proof. I haven't figured out how to post photos here since the insert button does not work. However, if you goto

this is a review i wrote on a Korean hearthstone deck page just like this site. On the photos, you can see my name GodofArena1. If you still cant trust I am Godofarena1, please add me #1726. I had the honor to get spectated from 40+ people, and give advice to them seeing them play. Many have already spectated and gotten great results. (Some attained legend, and many top players got 1~2 ranks up in a day.
What kind of deck is this?
Divine shield pally deck starts off aggressively using low-cost minions, and builds up using divine shield. The build up of this divine shield prevent the enemy from using clean spells to clear off your board, while allowing you to take favorable trades.
I think this deck is good in this meta because I saw a lot of shaman, warlock, warrior and some druids. You can avoid thrall and druid's lightening storm or swipe using the divine shields. As for zoolock, you are able to compete the notoriously aggressive zoolock low-cost minions, while potentially clearing off its board using consecrate and even avenging wrath. As for dragon warrior(or any other type), your tempo does not fall behind that of his, and with the caution of ravaging ghoul, you can develop a stronger board. Avenging wrath and tirion supports your late game. Avenging wrath is the key card, and differentiates this deck from other paladin divine decks. It is able to deal 8 from 6 cost, even more than leeroy, and goes well with equality.
I guarantee this is one of the strongest paladin deck, if not the strongest, at the moment (8/19)
Mulligan Tips:
Always bring the 1 costs. Don't be afraid to put down abusive sergeant on turn 1. Also bring argent protector, flamejuggler and loot hoarder. Against warrior, bring uldaman or rallying blade to prevent the ravaging ghoul(buff your own minion. Bring uldaman against druid or even thrall for the 7/7 or to fight for the board. Bring ooze if your opponent is warrior or thrall even rogue. I dont recommend bringing divine favor or steward in mulligan.
If you have the coin, and you have 1 cost, take rallying blade. Very strong.
So basically if you have one 2 cost, and no 1 cost, keep the 2 cost and change all.
Before you play rank, I recommend you play at least 20 games on normal play mode to understand what decisions and plays to make in different situations. This is very important!
I played about 250 games til legend, and after 200 games I was able to fully understand this deck, and make optimal decisions. :) For example, you may need to save the divine shield minion and trade the unshielded one, or break the shield and save the minion for additional damage, when to trade or hit face, when to save cards etc. This part is where many players overlook. Also keep in mind, this is not a hit face only deck.
Tips against Heros:
Against druid, thrall, rogue, and warrior, try to save your divine shields. Against all other, save the minion. What i mean by this is, if the enemy has a 4/2 drake(already damaged) and you have a 2/1 abusive and 2/1 divine shielded minion, kill it with abusive to prevent board clear from swipe, for instance.
Druid: Against druid, it is crucial to develop board control from turn 1. Try to avoid his swipe by potentially developing minions with divine shields, or buffing your minion with uldaman. Dont be afraid to use uldaman for board control in early game. One druid starts using violet teacher, innervate, coin, then nourish, it will be too late. Make sure to kill it. If druids starts off with summoning 2 1/1 with living roots on turn 1, and you have only abusive sergeant, save it, unless you have argent squire. This is an exception in which you save cards to prevent obvious, unfavorable kills. Kill Fandral for sure.(win rate against it 60%)
General Tips:
Ooze: is so good against thrall, warrior and rogue. Break the war axe, doomhammer. Against rigue, try to use it early. Even breaking 1/1 is good.
If you have any questions feel free to comment. I will reply very soon. Also, if you want to see me play, add me #1726 GodofArena1. I ll be happy to demonstrate. Several players have already added me and spectated.
And please hit like if it helped! Its my first time hitting legend and writing here.
I guarantee this is a great deck, one of the best out of the ones posted here. Just need some practice. Although it may not have the most likes, im sure one day it will be acknowledged.
Here are videos that Youtube streamers Furo and kiwiinbacon made playing this deck!
Thank you so much to both of you guys.
Thanks for reading, and hope you guys enjoy! :)
haha as of right now, i think blood knight would be much better because moroes can easily die from flamewaker, arcane missile, ravaging ghoul, pyromancer etc. Even if it gets buffed by steward, darkshire stweard would be killed next turn for sure, so the 1/1 moroes produces would be too weak and slow. But we never know you might be right
Edit: And apparently unlike you, I make original decks myself instead of purely copying a popular deck and just rename it to make it look like you created something new.
REALLY nice Zooladin here ! I'm having fun with it and i love every pala deck that uses one of my favourite cards: Steward of Darkshire !
This is looking to be the best one for sure ! The only cards to be awared of are the 1 damage aoe cards like Ravaging Ghoul, Swipe and Fan of Knives. The other aoe cards doesn't gets full value and the opponent always loose his turn to wipe the board (not mentionint that devine shields prevents a lot of aoe use)
Hi. Thanks so much for your acknowledgement! Yes, once we can play around ravaging ghoul, swipe, and some others, it is a powerful deck. However, if enemy takes the tempo, it may be difficult. Hope you have fun with it!
It has been a while since I last played the divine paladin archtype (had great results at the beginning of the newset set), but I had a blast with your deck. Really well crafted deck and the games are only lasting 5 to 6 minutes which is quite important for fast laddering!
A video of my winning streak today (started at 7 going up to 5): Video
Youtube-Player:
Hi Furo, thanks for demonstrating really well how the deck is played! I will try to post this on my actual write up if I figure how to. Thanks for streaming it, and posting it as a video here :)
It has personally been a pretty long time since I played pally in constructed, and I have been pleased with the results I got with this deck!
Very strong deck, quite simple to play and pretty cheap considering other options at the moment!
Here is a video showcasing the deck that i hope you guys enjoy
Hi buddy, thank you so much for trying out my deck, streaming it, and making it a video! Really appreciate it :) I will try to post this video on the actual write up if I manage to figure it out haha
Why only 1 truesilver champion and blessing of kings? What cards should I take out if I want two of each?
Hi. The reason why only 1 truesilver is used is because it's just too much weapons. Only in a control deck, I would consider 4 wepons. 3 is the optimal number in aggro decks. Even aggro shaman has 2 doomhamers and I think one or 2 rockbiter, each counting as half a weapon if I may. 4 wepons will surely mess up things, and the curve too. Imagine having bunch of 4 costs and weapons in front of aggro shaman or zoolock who is developing the board. It is very likely he won already.
But I think another blessing is a great idea! Usually, I recommend 2 blessing of kings for those who don't have tirion. I just think the deck would become too heavy if you take something else out.
Hi, thanks for your input. When I reached rank 5 2 weeks ago, I had a very, very hard time with dragon warriors. Ravagin ghoul would destroy the board I developed, not to mention the 1/3 finley on turn one changing into mage hero power, turn 2 alextraza etc. I just think its about taking the tempo and trying to avoid board clears. For example, if the enemy put finley on turn 1, and i have 1 costs, I avoid putting it down, and start off with coin, rallying blade the next turn. I also try to buff minions with uldaman to avoid the ghoul. But yes, warriors are still very tough.
If you are facing a lot of cthun warriors, maybe try 2 divine favors.
And OTK warrior is so tough. Hopefully he doesnt have pyro and commading shout.
For your mulligan against warrior, try to get 1 cost minion for sure. If you already have it, take uldaman too. or buffs like seal of champs. Warrior would have to use weapon and spell to kill it. Take ooze too if you can. Avoid divine shielding on damaged minions as he can simply execute.
And yes, leeroy can be a dead card if you lose the board late game. Hopefully, you can bait them, and equality +(consecrationg or avenging wrath) is in your hand.
If you have dragon's egg, take out selfless and try it out.It may work better against zoo and aggros. I just dont have the card.
I stayed in rank 5 for 5 days because of them. But eventually I made it.
Also, I think blood knight is a personal preference as it can be a decent late game if you both run out of card. But it is important to take only 1 shield, and not use it when you put your own minions at risk, as you already know. Maybe 2 argent horse is better. Im just trying it out :)
Good luck!
Nice man! Once you realize how to play against certain heros, its is a great deck. It took me over 200 matches to finally realize how to play well with this deck, even though I made it. Congrats!
Would a sword of justice fit? im wondering if it would buff after stewart buff for example, that would make it a good rallying blade alternative if missing one
yes, if you are missing one rallying blade, sword of justice can do it. But it is much less efficient and slow tempo than rallying blade, which is much better in this deck. I would actually consider a truesilver instead, but you can try it out! :) And yes, it will buff after stweard buff too
have added u. hope to spectate u before i craft tat missing fordring
will have a go at making this asap. there are too many cards I need for it right now. I have tirion though and that's a start. will use argent commender instead of leeroy... but then I still need like 3 epics which is a lot.
There are literally not even three epics in this deck.
You can replace blood knight with argent horserider. No problem at all.
oh well excuse me for miscounting :/
Absolutely insane deck. I don't have much experience playing aggro deck or paladin for that matter (just 130 wins in constructed), but I was dwindling between ranks 6 and 8 with my Reno control warrior and I really wanted to get to rank 5 (managed to do that ever since TGT was released, but this time I just couldn't catch a break). So, I tried this fun little deck and won 8/8 games to get me there. I must admit, I had twisted pleasure watching hunters and aggro warlocks doing desperate plays to save themselves.
