*UPDATE* Dropped one Defender of Argus and replaced with Old Murk-Eye Allowed for more options for a burst finisher around turn 7 and later.
What happens when you take elements of Warlock Aggro and combine it with Murlocs? You get Aquarium. The concept is rather straight forward. Using similar methods of Zoo you establish board control and begin to tear into your opponents life. If you lure them to thinking this just a zoo deck you can easily surprise them with the murlocs and just decimate them.
The deck can easily snow ball from either early game murloc domination or from just sheer force of will. What makes this deck a little more secure in its ability to win is the turn 5 combo of Leeroy Jenkins + Power Overwhelming This is 10 damage that can be followed up by a Soulfire= out to 14 damage.
The deck also has means of clearing the board of taunts or other threats through card combinations involving Shadowflame. And just in case packs a Ironbeak Owl just to ensure you have the means to get by their defenses and push forward to victory.
Ideal opening for most matches will be the same ironically enough. Voidwalker , Flame Imp, Knife Juggler. The Knife Juggler should be used in combination of other minion plays as it will be a quick target, but thats ok. The more they waste on the juggler the less they have for the Murloc Warleader.
Another Ideal hand that is a bit of a gamble but can pay out huge if done correctly is a Murloc Tidecaller , and Murloc Tidehunter. This combo really needs the coin to pull off on turn two. If they have no answer and you can follow up with a Coldlight Seer, you will have a very strong early game that will force some tough choices for your opponent. Most likely though they will take out the Tide caller thus leaving you two murlocs you can now make a little more beefy in preparation for Defender of Argus.
The deck does have a slight learning curve but can easily be played against most other main decks being played and give you a fair to decent chance to pull off a victory.
Nice Deck!! Looks like it will be fun to play.
Ok, this time I will write something to a deck highlight of hearthpwn front site.
When people create decks that is really cool, most guys are just going for netdecking. So, for this deck you created a hybrid with a good looking succes chance and for this you get a +1.
But, considering the current meta, it's another rush deck, it's another deck with Leeroy, it will be another turn 5 win deck where you get fast wins.
Your opponent will not have fun because he can't do anything than try to break the rush and you will not have any fun because playing such decks are sooo boring after a 1-2 hours. On EU Servers people playing such decks do apologize after they win the game, because they used such a so called "nobrainer" to get stars. So, for the funfactor you get a -1.
Everybody can now decide on its own if he prefers fast winrates over fun.
Hope to see some good midrange / control decks from you soon! Keep up the creative work! :)
I am playing card games over 12 years and i was always an aggro/rush player.its an option from the game and every game that want to be balanced MUST have aggro decks.i hate Ragnaros cause won a lot of games for noob players that wait till turn 8,9 to pop him up.so what i have to do?crying all around for control decks and ragnaros?
You did not get the point. Aggro decks are ok. New players need those cheap to craft decks to get a good start at the ladder, the decks are easy to play and it's a playstyle which brings some strong winds into the meta.
The point is, in the current meta, there are way too much of them. Rushstone + Leeroy OTK, all the time, even if you are at high ranks. The fresh air of the meta stinks just because of too much of these aggro decks.
The last few weeks I played a lot of ladder, did several 10-hour streams resulting in golden Shaman Hero Portrait and golden Mage Hero Portrait (both control decks!) and it's getting very boring to face such aggro decks again and again. With midrange and control decks there is a lot to think, to predict, to pray to the Rngesus, all in all, way more fun.
I hope you now get the point :-)
tl;dr: aggro decks have are ok, too much of them ain't
the truth is that i didnt get your point at the first moment.now its clear and i agree at some point with you.but i dont think an aggro deck is easy to play.and thats why a lot of ppl get pwned cause they cant think for 2-3 turns later and always got their hands empty or with useless cards.Gratz for your golden heroes mate
There was a druid palying that deck and it was so OP,i lost at turn 7 and i am an aggro player too.i guess it will fit better with the warlock hero ability.i will check it for sure
What ranks do you play this deck at? 75% win rate seems insane.
I encountered this deck for the first time today, before coming across this guide. It began as standard zoo and quickly switched to Murloc. I was quite surprised. A hybrid. I was intrigued.
What I did notice was that it was much more difficult to clear a group of murlocs with AOE (especially if Coldlight Seer was in play) due to all the increased health stats. As well, the Murlocs had an easier time to keep board control, even against big minions, due to their increased attack stats.
I haven't got around to playing it yet, but it was quite effective in my encounter with it on the other side of the board.
Thank you. It is fun to play and if you can lure them in pulling off the bait and switch can cause some hilarious moments of rage from players who add you after the match.
But it doesn't matter if they think you're zoo and then you bust out the murlocs. Playing versus this deck is exactly the same as versus zoo. Get your AoE, use it on 3+ guys, win. Or, don't draw AoE and die. It's not really as clear cut as that, I know, but if they think it's zoo none of the finishers are any different in this deck. It's an interesting take, and the name is clever. And hey, it probably works pretty well. But the surprise factor isn't what really makes this deck win. The deck wins because, like any other aggro deck, it uses efficient creatures and spells to deal damage fast and early.
Much of what your saying is correct. However if you can lure the AOE out with the non murloc it gives you more time to get your murlocks beefed up in the mid to late game. This combined with Shadowflame allows for you to clear a path to victory very nicely.
Any room for Old Murk-Eye in there? Seems that anyone with the rare and epic murlocs in this deck is pretty close to earning him, if they haven't done so already.
yes it is in the current build for some reason I forgot to update this :)
Have you tried playing this in ranked?
yes I have. Was able to overload Miracle before it could breath as well as warrior control and ramp. It breaks about even against zoo and hunter rush.
I love the change up of this deck. Makes people trying to counter your plays a lot more difficult.
