Hello everyone, I've been tweaking my Shaman deck lately and found a hidden gem. It's a fairly cheap but really solid deck. I'll explain some more after the reasoning behind cards since that explains a lot already. Make sure to check out the comments, maybe your question has been asked by another person!
Reasoning behind cards:
Ancestral Healing: perfect to combine with a Injured Blademaster. 3 mana for a 4/7 with taunt is brilliant. It can also be used to heal up after a trade or save your face by giving a taunt.
Rockbiter Weapon: combine it with Doomhammer and you have a 2x5 damage weapon wich can easily finish off enemies. Apart from that you can use it to trade a totem with a stronger/high value target.
Lightning Storm: a must against this aggro meta.
Bloodlust: Key to winning games. Have boardcontroll with 3-4 minions? Bloodlust to chunk away at least 10-15 hp (*note the at least* - on a 5 game average I did 23.6 damage split on minions and hero). Also combine's pretty well with Violet Teacher if you cleared the board with a spell or 2 the turn before.
Warning: Using it defensively (to clear the board/trade) can cost you the burst you might need later to win the game, so use it wisely.
Mana Tide Totem: if you have the upperhand you can draw cards and gain an even bigger advantage. if you are behind it's basically a 3 mana draw a card that might absorb some damage or a spell. Either way... Profit.
Leper Gnome: this card is replacable. I like it because you often get 4 damage with it wich can easily make the difference later on when you start wrecking his face with a doomhammer.
Spellbreaker: due to the fact that I don't run earthshock it is in the deck. A silence is very important and if you feel like you need earthshock then you should. But after silencing a taunt and then using any of the damage steroids to wreck faces make me feel happy :) Besides, having more minions is a indirect buff to Bloodlust.
Changeable cards:
-Violet Teacher is definately replacable for anything that gives you a more solid earlygame or something that combo's well with the attack steroids (Rockbitter Weapon, Bloodlust, Flametongue Totem), for example a Argent Commander.
-Leper Gnome as stated before can make a difference but having a Loot Hoarder would also be nice. An Argent Squire is also a good replacement.
-Spellbreaker is questionable but I feel like the only possible replacement would be a different silence.
What legendary's would fit in this deck?
-Leeroy Jenkins combined with a Rockbiter, Flametongue or Bloodlust (or all of them, wich is possible of the Flametongue is already on the field)... oh man that would be fun.
-Alexstrasza his health down to 15 and then Doomhammer it. Sounds like a plan :)
-Bloodmage Thalnos gives spell damage and he almost always gives you another card so it's quite usefull.
-Harrison Jones is very usefull depending on your opponent. Destroying enemy weapon is nice, but getting card(s) for it is simply great.
-Black Knight saves you the trouble of using a Hex against strong taunt minions. 6 mana is quite much though.
-Illidan Stormrage can fit for the same reasoning as the Violet Teacher. First turn try abusing his effect. Then you will either get some trades or the opponent uses AoE. Second turn you will bloodlust whats left for some really heavy damage.
This deck tends to be in trouble against controll. Having your board cleared keeps you from using your Bloodlust properly, but if you manage to get early pressure then you can still win fairly easy with your Doomhammer and Blademaster's.
Against aggro I feel like the Lightning Storm and a early Blademaster can totally ruin their day. Aggro's often rush face leaving a Mana Tide Totem alone wich is also very unfortunate for them.
If you do not have the cards, crafting them will be worth it since most of them are also usable in other decks/classes. If you do have the cards then you really should give it a go, who know's how it works out for you! GL&HF :)
Feel free to add me on EU server: itzOnno#2524
You can use Doomhammer for more than wreck faces, for example clear minions, wich you can't do with Leeroy Jenkins. That being said, Leeroy Jenkins is an amazing card to finish of an opponent that already got damaged by a few totems on Bloodlust. I would however take a Windspeaker over Windfury since get a 3/3 minion for just 2 mana more and more minions are an indirect buff to Bloodlust.
You could take out an Lightning Storm or Hex like I said in some of the previous comments. This does limit your defence so be aware of the risks. You could also remove a Spellbreaker but playing without silence feels off.
great deck onno-san!! , I only have one injured blademaster so Ireplaced it with twilight drake, So far, went from rank 12 to 6. Thanks!!
I wasn't sure about this deck at first, but I was only one Blademaster off, so I built it. It's actually very quickly becoming my favorite deck. I swapped one Spellbreaker for a windspeaker and I'm not doing half bad with it on the ladder. Probably about a 75-80% winrate, which is pretty good. Thanks! :)
Imo Bloodlust is a good card and this deck works around it, you should not forget that Bloodlust can be used defensively. I have put only 1 Bloodlust in it for a reason though. Since it's very situational you might risk getting a dead hand with 2 Bloodlusts.
If you wish to take out the Bloodlust then you should consider taking out the Violet Teacher aswell, because Violet Teacher is in the deck due to the synergy with Bloodlust. Removing those 2 cards would make room for another Mana Tide Totem, maybe a Chillwind Yeti (or two), a second Doomhammer and you could add Spiteful Smith (wich would keep the manacurve the same and has an amazing synergy with Doomhammer). hope it will help :)
Wow, I just tried this deck. (Well, except for the Doom hammer) and I must say, it is pretty great. It's not as expensive as others and it get's the job done. Thanks a lot man. Now my "Hurr Durr Derp" deck can actually do something :D
The aggro Shaman decks (and many midrange aswell) almost always have a Leeroy Jenkins and/or Cairne Bloodhoof wich are not affordable for starters. The controll Shaman decks tend to use Ysera, Alexstrasza and the Earth Elemental wich are expensive aswell.
Keeping it relatively cheap was the main goal, since I'm still low on cards/dust I can only use the cards a limited set of cards and my only legendary I got so far is Tinkmaster Overspark :/
Hm... I actually got pretty lucky and got myself a Leeroy Jenkins, which card would you suggest I replace for it? I only got 1 though.
But I see your point, I find myself in your same situation. Low budget decks are fun to play as well, most decks are just legendaries and that's just annoying/not affordable, or just cheap.
oh I'm so jelly on your Leeroy :3
Do you still play without the Doomhammer? You could run a Windspeaker and Leeroy Jenkins Combo at the cost of both Spellbreaker. But not having a silence feels a bit off. You could remove a Hex or Lightning Storm since you got 2 of both and often only need one.
Mhm :c I'm playing with it's mediocre version Stormforged Axe since it kinda (KINDA) helps on early turns... No luck on boosters and haven't got enough dust to forge it :c and I don't want to destroy any card haha, bit of a sentimental D:
Oh D: yeah... Spellbreaker has saved me in more than one ocassion, I feel like I need him D: I may try what you mean though, removing one Hex and one lighting storm to put Leeroy Jenkins and Windspeaker
Good luck :D
What cards would you swap out for Leeroy, Alexstrasza, and Bloodmage Thalnos?
for Bloodmage Thalnos you could swap out the Mana Tide Totem since it often only draws you one card (unless you play it well then Mana Tide is amazing), you could also swap a Leper Gnome wich keeps the manacurve somewhat the same.
for Leeroy I would say swap the Violet Teacher or a Spellbreaker depending on what you want to lose. Either a Bloodlust synergy or a silence.
you can also swap out one Hex and/or Lightning Storm, just be aware that you will be limited in responding since you don't have a second one.
I don't have Doomhammer, is it a keycard in this deck or could i replace it? The deck looks really good so if it's an important card i could craft it
Doomhammer is a really strong card since you can clear small minions, hit his face pretty hard combined with Rockbitter Weapon and the overload feeds your Unbound Elementals. If you do not have it and don't intend crafting it then another Bloodlust would be a nice alternative. You can use one of the Bloodlusts defensively and one offensively. I do however recommend using Doomhammer for it's multi purpose use.
I crafted Doomhammer after a few battlewithout it and i must say that this deck is quite solid in the current meta after all the hunters are gone is this deck really good against mostly every class. Thank you for sharing! rank 10 and climbing:)
it was my pleasure, thanks for the support!
Really appreciated this deck, got from rank 15 to 8 in 4 hours!! Nice card picking :)
Glad it works for you!
Thanks, I'm glad you like it!
Knife Juggler is a great card for this deck! you could replace the Leper Gnome for the Knife Juggler but that would make it a bit slower, still a smart move I though. What makes this deck work for me is the Injured Blademaster (since it's like a better innovate + yeti) so I wouldn't consider swapping it. If you do then another Violet Teacher would be nice and maybe another Mana Tide Totem.
