I created this deck to reach legend rank (and to farm wins faster for gold and golden Warrior, which is not so possible with the Control Warrior). If you like fast wins and if you want to happy dance if you are faced with handlocks or control warriors, this deck you going to love really a lot.
This deck works wonders in the current meta. You have a really high win ratio against Control Warriors (who happen to run no taunts or only 1), Handlocks (who reduce their health for you on their own) and Miracle Rogues too (won't mention Paladin or Priest decks.. with this deck = free wins). In fact i reached within few hours from rank 5 to Legend. So it really works. It is very brutal and you overwhelm your opponents in a massive way.
Strength of the deck:
- You are weapon heavy, means you have damage at hand which can only removed from two minions, which happen not to be that much present lately. Weapon can yield really a LOT dmg, can not be outhealed neither prevented with armoring up. Just check the weapons, thats crazy how brutal you can be, makes you really feel like a warrior who goes on rampage :)
- Brawl. Some people might not like it but this can win you games easily, be it against Handlocks, Shamans and Zoos. The moment the opponent swarms you with a lot minions you can even out the field. The great thing is, no one expects it in an aggressive played warrior deck, makes them go all out even more often.
- Owls: Simply help you to keep on with the damage and strike lethal.
- Burst damage. Really a lot burst damage. Beside the Weapons you have 5 Charge minions, 2 Mortal Strikes, 2 Heroic Strikes.. It feels really brutal and you really feel like your eyes are glowing in flames :)
Weakness of the deck:
- Too much taunts, in short: Ramp druids. They are your worst match ups. If they have their run with good cards you simply kill yourself on their taunts.
How to play the deck:
You want to have at your starting hand: Fiery Axe, Leper Gnome, Faerie Dragon, Bloodsail Raider and max. one 3 mana minion, be it Harvest Golem or Froathing Berserker. You do not go mindless to the face. You trade, with important minions and try to create value and/or take their tempo down. You check your own cards and you need to decide when to start to be more aggressive. Important is: Use the Update! spell not on weak weapons unless it is really important (for example on Fiery Axe to kill an Unbound Elemental), it can create a lot more value for example with the Arcanite Reaper. It has the suprise effect, so it makes even sense to swing once without Update and use the spell in your next round (for example important to wipe out a druid of the claw). If you happen to have a lot charges and weapons at hand, start to be really aggressive. He needs to deal every round with your minions while you have your biggest damage dealer at your left hand, swinging each round. You really need experience when to start to be aggressive, and generally do not forget to create with your own minion more value, obvious things like dropping the Berserker the moment you going to trade with minions or kill their, playing Bloodsail Corsair after you have a weapon equipped etc.. Keep your Mortal Strikes at your hand for burst damage, try the same with Heroic Strikes.
If you have any questions feel free to ask here. The deck is good, it really works and i used it to rank up like the wind while obtaining a lot gold too.
Update: - 1 Arathi Weaponsmith + 1 Warsong Commander. Makes it possible to "burst" at a point even more.
Sorry but this deck is pure garbage
this deck is trash simple as that.
Hey man, nice deck, though I looked up for it just to do my daily quest i really liked this deck, but i don't have a leeroy jenkins crafted, so i replaced it and one owl with cpt. greenskin and black knight, what do you think? too slow? Appreciated! :D
I think both are too slow. You want to go for face at a point. Owl opens the path and costsw only 2 mana. You can use other combinations as well. Black Knight is too expensive mana wise.
Captain Greenskin similar. Instead of him for 5 mana you have 2 updates for 1 mana. He has no value on the board, update is better in this case.
I think Harvest Golem is there over 2x Warsong Commander for the zoo matchup. Harvest Golem will usually stick on the board for 2 turns and is able to trade with multiple cards. Also, Harvest Golem is great for triggering Frothing Berserker multiple times.
Okay need to make a strategy guide probably for the different match ups. Generally control Warrior is easy going. You have just too much dmg in your hand and he has usually no taunts, so its face face face (beside removing the obvious threats which could ruin it for your).
You simply do not have enough minions to trigger with warsong. Its for one combo and Harvest Golem combos well with Warsong as well. A destroyed golem can instantly attack, gives you a big push for example against zoo decks.
I played this deck last season and reached rank 7, this season I'm having a bit of trouble and stuck around rank 12.
How do you play this deck against control shamans?
How important is killing their totems? And how do you deal with wolf spirits?
Also, what matchups do you think having Heroic Strike or Upgrade in your starting hand is good? Is Upgrade to Bloodsail Raider ever worth it? And should Owl ever be kept?
As for Mortal Strike, I find myself in some situations around turn 5-7 where I have 4 mana open and nothing to play but Mortal Strike, I'm not below 12 life for the 6 damage and the Mortal Strike won't put him in lethal, should I use my mana and play Mortal Strike? Or save if for later?
Thanks!
Good old concept. My question is how do you play without any draw power? Imagine you end up with something bad after mulligan or more importantly you born 2-3 cards to deal with druid of the claw (u didnt have upgrade and arcanite), how do you come back? You have no draw and most minions are small, you will ,ose hard with your topdecking. Sorry but I refuse to believe u managed to rush down from rank 5 to legend in few hours, especially when you say you are trading efficiently with minions.
PS. I am rank 2 player (did not become rank 1 last season) and calling deck without draw with lots of cheap cards to be unrealistic and deceptive for those reading this guide. It is only possible if you went on +85% win ratio with luck and predictability of amaz and value trades of trump.
You do not need draw power in this deck, since every weapon you have is like to attack twice with a minion on the board. Sure, it can happen that you mulliganed the worst hand possible, but this can happen with any deck, or not? Just bad luck.
I do not top deck. It rarely happens that i am out of cards. You need to use your cards wise and not throw out everything at once and create value. All cards 4 mana and higher have an instant effect on the board and can deal dmg instant. I've mentioned that you do not need to take care of every enemy minion. Your case with Ramp Druid is generally the worst match up, as mentioned before. If a wall of taunts every round appears its hard to deal with of course.
I have no reason to lie. I reached legend with this deck within that time and i am right now exclusively playing this deck on legend and i am around top 100. You need to learn to play this deck correctly. If the deck creates troubles for you the issue is simply with you. If you are out of cards you play the deck wrong. That you call the cards "cheap" in this deck shows already that you use them probably wrong. I do not have a 2/3 Raider on the field, i have a 5/3 or 7/3 Raider on the field. I do not have a 2/4 Berserker on the field, mine enters with 4/4 or higher. Thats pressure, that you do with one card / round easy + your weapon.
How is this played aganist zoo lock? i seem to get crushed everytime by them even with brawl, besides that been pretty good.
Against Zoo you need to try to take their tempo out by good trades and gain board Control. The Fiery Axe helps a lot, the same does the froathing berserker. The moment you have the board under control the zoo is easy to deal with. The first few rounds are therefore very essential. You need to ignore your health in this case. Fiery Axe + Weapon Smith, the Harvest Golem etc, all great cards. Not saying it is going to be easy, but its not your worst match up, you can do it with a good chance!
I'm just happy that it's not the tired Control Warrior. That deck is so mind numbingly boring and this one seems to have more fun in it. Thanks!
Yes, Control Warrior matches just take sooo long and there are other cool ways to play the warrior. Instead of a tank you play here like a Berserker swinging your weapon, makes fun like hell!
-1 [card]Harvest Golem[/card] and +1 Captain Greenskin or why not [card]The Black Knight[/card] for the taunt.
I think, that it's work well with the synergy of the deck. :)
Otherwise, I like the aggro of this deck and it's cool and funny to play. ;)
Good deck, Alperon. :)
Hi Pieral :)
TBK is not so good in this deck. The moment the opponent needs taunt you generally are in your aggressive stage where you make massive pressure. Owls are better, since you break through + can use other cards the same time (+4 more mana at your disposal).
Greenskin i had in a first version of the deck but i had bad experience with him since it felt like he did not do enough on the board. Its hard to combo him with big weapons in the same turn, either turn 10 with arcanite or you going to need to wait a round. Updates are more flexibel, you can use them anytime and push your weapon high. He feels like a weak card on the board too. I would go for Korkron + Update Combo instead of him alone. 4 health is just too fragile.
Have you considered putting in a Black Knight to help with the taunt issue?
Hi Omisid :)
TBK is not so good in this deck. The moment the opponent needs taunt you generally are in your aggressive stage where you make massive pressure. Instead of using 6 mana for TBK and to kill it you could use an owl + a Korkron and your weapon to go for face. He needs to deal with your Korkron the next round, where you again have another threat at your hand or at the board. Owls are cheaper and more effective to reach your goal since you can use other cards with it. For example a combo like Fiery Axe + Heroic strike + Mortal Strike + Owl etc.
3-1 so far, beaten by a defender of argus
Harvest Golem is a great 3 mana drop which this deck is lacking a bit and needs always 2 actions to be taken care of. Somehow the opponent does not ignore it, which is good, still could be replaced with an other cards since it is not a fundamental part of the deck.
I am not a fan of Night Blades, simply because i am not a fan of 4 health minions for 5 mana cost. The 3 damage is nice but in my opinion not essential. You have so much reach in this deck, an owl helps you to deal more dmg with a weapon swing + spell/minion combo than the +3 damage.
Yeah mages can be troublesome if you ignore the Water Elementals. If he is taken out or not even dropped its a pretty easy game, since he needs to burn a lot of cards for your threats on the board while you swinging your weapon.
Ive replied to you ingame but i do it here too for other people to read :)
Greenskin: In an earlier version i had him in this deck but he was not that good. To use him to upgrade your heavy weapons in one turn takes too much mana and leaves a versatile body on the board (4health is too low for that mana cost) which does nothing. Update! is a lot better with the same effect and you can combo very well with any weapon in one turn.
Mukla: Sounds interresting but feels right now a less good choice simply because Miracle Rogues are all around in the top ranks and you would "feed" them more spells for their combos. For the lack of 3 mana it would be possible to use a Mind control Tech or an Arcane Golem in exchange for a Weaponsmith. The Golem for more damage and the MCT is very great in aggro match ups especially Zoo.
