Hey guys I'm proasfuk#3627, a Korean player and I will share this deck I used to get top 10 asia this season (S22). I can't really write down every single matchup indepth so I'll try to answer all other questions in the comments.
Proof of legend
First of all this deck wasn't made by me and all credits go to 언기 for making this deck. I only changed 1 card from the original deck. Mana wyrm -> acidic swamp ooze.
Tempo Mage: Mulligan for frostbolt, forgotten torch, zombie chow, doomsayer, mad scientist, reno. Just try to survive the early game and it's easy from there.
Freeze mage: Really easy matchup. Mulligan for reno, mad scientist, zombie chow
I personally have met a freeze mage only 1 time this season.
Aggro Shaman: Mulligan for zombie chow, doomsayer, mad scientist, reno, deathlord. Try to survive the early game and it's really important not to be too greedy with reno. Just get reno and you probably win. If you don't, you probably lose.
Combo Druid: Mulligan for frostbolt, acidic swamp ooze, doomsayer, mad scientist, zombie chow. If they're holding cards for a while and / or emperor thaurissan discounted a few cards, you have to think up to 22 damage. I suggest you use deck tracker to see what combo pieces they used and how many innervates they used.
Secret Paladin: Mulligan for frostbolt, doomsayer, mc tech, deathlord, zombie chow, mad scientist, bgh, reno. Don't be greedy with your hard removal. It's fine to polymorph a 6/5 shredder (buffed from avenge).
Renolock: Mulligan for doomsayer, mc tech, deathlord, zombie chow, mad scientist, bgh, reno. Try to bait out siphon soul before you play ysera. Also try to save your burn cards so you can surprise burst them. If he gets Jaraxxus hero power off for a few turns, you're fucked.
Zoo: Mulligan for doomsayer, mc tech, deathlord, zombie chow, mad scientist, reno, explosive sheep, frostbolt. This is the hardest matchup. I would maybe consider keeping bgh if you're facing sea giant zoo alot. Try to survive early game and you lose if you get pressured to much and you have to use reno to heal for like 15.
Hunter: I haven't met many midrange hunters, so I will write the guide against face hunters. Mulligan for deathlord, zombie chow, mad scientist, reno, frostbolt, doomsayer and maybe forgotten torch if you don't have other early game. Just get reno and you probably win. If you don't you probably lose.
Control warrior: Mulligan for zombie chow, acidic swamp ooze, big game hunter. This matchup will almost always go to fatigue. Make them use removal on things like doomsayer / thaurissan. You want to get alot of value from echo to win. You want to echo or duplicate reno / ysera / sylvanas and win from fatigue. Just think about grom burst and fatigue damage. Also try to not use arcane intellect unless they're like 5 cards ahead of you in fatigue. Don't overextend into brawl and keep pressuring him (taking off his armor) little by little every turn. You don't have to play any cards until you have a full hand in some cases. Really easy matchup.
Patron warrior: Mulligan for acidic swam ooze, big game hunter, flamestrike, reno, doomsayer, frostbolt, forgotten torch. Flamestrike patrons, use a combination of sylv, mc tech, belcher, freeze + doomsayer, forgotten torch, frostbolt for second patron wave. Big game hunter is for big frothing berserker when you can't remove it efficiently or for grom late game. Watch out for grom burst. I would think up to 16 damage depending on how many inner rage and taskmaster he used. Save ooze for death's bite. Don't use it on fiery war axe. Kind of hard if they have patron + inner rage + death's bite effect on turn 5.
Priest: Mulligan for frostbolt, forgotten torch, zombie chow, mad scientist, doomsayer (if your hand is looking too late game). Same with control warrior. Don't overextend into lightbomb, and try to bait out his entombs so you can win with ysera. Try to get value from your duplicates and echo of medivhs. This is also a fatigue matchup. Don't get impatient. Also one tip is, you don't want to kill northshire cleric at all. You want them to draw alot. There isn't much priest can do to pressure you.
Rogue: Mulligan for frostbolt, forgotten torch, zombie chow, doomsayer, reno, mad scientist. I would consider keeping loatheb depending on the rest of my hand. I don't like this matchup. I think it's rogue favored especially if you don't draw reno in time.
Cards that work well / can fit in this deck :
Brann bronzebeard
Azure drake
Bloodmage thalnos
Molten giant
Loot hoarder
Acolyte of pain
Jeweled scarab
You can replace them with... acidic swamp ooze, and unstable portal.
-I will keep updating the list-
Here are some vids of people playing this deck. If you want your vid to here, request it through PM.
replaced in one game loatheb to Saraad :D
Let me explain why those replacements are bad because I thought you were joking at first. First of all rafaam is decent replacement for ysera, but much better against priest and longer games. Rafaam just gives you that 1 card while ysera gives you multiple. Also elise for sylvanas is really bad... First of all you don't want to replace your deck with random legendaries and you have enough late game with ysera / rafaam. Alex... you said it was good against reno decks? let me just say it's pretty much useless because you're gonna use up all your burn cards like fireball on minions early game, so putting them to 15 or 30 is pretty much irrelevant. As for cwgiant, maybe against control decks it will work sometimes, but then again how many slow control deck do you see? You will just get rekt against almost every deck with a semi decent start. I don't know how that is a good replacement for boom or thaurissan. Let me just suggest you not play this deck if you don't have that many cards. It actually might get 10% winrate like some guy from yesterday commented unless you are playing at really low ranks. Also why would you replace mctech with sunwalker... it costs 2 more, the mechanics are not similar in the least, and you will just get rekt by aggro. A good mctech replacement is farseer or brann.
This deck is great against everything however Control Warrior's can go above 30HP... usually into 40+ armor which means they win fatigue even through double Reno etc. It's a hard matchup
Warrior is easy. Try not to draw at all against them. Don't use arcane intellect unless they're more than 5 cards+ ahead of you in fatigue. They put out close to no pressure, and you will have lots of time to draw removal for their big stuff. I only have 1 loss against CW where I messed up my fatigue count and died to alex. Anyways if you pay attention to cards remaining and fatigue damage, etc you will not lose. Like ever.
The core cards are Reno, ice block, scientist, and basic mage spells. You can do well with stalagg, feugen, loetheb, bran bronze beard, water elemental, animated armor.
maybe work on asia but on EU very weak deck.Against tempo, midrange deck so slow
Asia is mostly aggro too. Secret paly, Aggro shaman, zoo, druid, tempo mage. From what I heard, EU has more control oriented decks than asia.
Sick deck man, gonna try it out.
Priest is easy. First, read my guide. Also this is a fatigue matchup as well. Try not to kill their deathlords and northshires. You want them to draw alot, because deathlord and entomb bascially makes you fatigue earlier (deathlord draws a minion out of your deck and plays it, entomb adds a card to enemy's deck). Secret paly is hard if you don't draw reno and stuff for sure.
Secret paly is easy if you get good mull. Like reno, doomsayer, deathlord, zombie chow, etc. Look at my guide. Zoo is a hard matchup. Follow my mull guide. It's like 40:60 in favor of zoo. You always have a decent chance. Just play around 9 damage burst (doomguard + po)+ board damage and don't be greedy with reno.
I've tried a similar list, but I run one card x2 - Ice block. But it's my only secret so if you mulligan for ice block or mad scientist you pretty much won't end up in a situation were you can't play Reno.
Then i have Echo and Youthful brewmaster for Reno, So either turn 10 or turn 8 = double Reno.
It just keeps winning against almost anything... excapet secret paladin. I usually end up in a situation by turn 6 where i have great control, he has a few minions and an empty hand. Then Divine Favor and suddenly he has almost everything again. dr6 into dr7 into Tirion, and RIP. Polymorph usually used on something with Kings. Any advice? Also few cases i had like 4 Reno but in the end he has 20+ dmg on board with buffed minions.
Yeah you can't really do anything against crazy hands like that, but I only met 1 guy who had perfect curve, so it's pretty winnable for sure. I feel like it's a bit favored for this deck. Read my guide and check out some of the vids other people took of themselves playing the deck. Maybe it will help you.
pretty bad deck currently 10%wr
haha that's just you playing it wrong for sure. Just follow my mulligan guides and you should be able to get atleast 50.
incredible deck! Finally a breath of fresh air in the current Meta! good winrate. but my question is, is there a place for the water elemental in the deck?
Nope. If you really want to try it, take out portal.
Yes, you can trade out the shredder for water elemental. I play my own Reno mage deck and getting the duplicate on water elemental can lead to a good tempo swing in your favor, especially against a weapon class.
Ahá! This is the deck that i ended up facing minutes ago. When i saw Gnomish Inventor and Explosive Sheep i knew... It was him, spreading the cure to mages.
The surprise factor in my game was the duplicate secret, because i was totally confident about an Ice Block and then... 2 more Renos for him. At first i thought it would be very problematic to finish the game, but i got the mage in a situation where he could not clear my board and play Reno at the same time, so... Easy game, right? Nope, surprise again! His last move was Molten Giant, Reno and Sunfury. After this i must consider myself very luck for still being able to win that game. In fact, i recognize that i had the perfect cards to aswer his last resistance; a reduced cost BGH, the combo and minions on board to deal exactly 31 damage.
Anyway, even disliking the longer games i must give credit to this deck, the control is insane. Thumbs up!
Thanks for the awesome feedback.
