Check out the updated version, much better for Ranking: http://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/61548-your-secret-crush
Been ladder climbing with this. It's so much fun. The only thing that really kills me is rush decks, everything else I can wade through as long as I'm patient :)
EDIT: Made my boyfriend extremely angry earlier.Fireball x2 plus Nightmarex2 on Ysera = very angry dead Paladin. (he was at 24 life, I think I was a 4) /trollface
Really glad it's working great for you, it has some really fun combos and it deals well with many decks in the current meta. Try to use mirror entity early vs rush decks for better chances.
I'm going to try this one and then steal all your secrets (see what I did there?)!
Haha, nice, let me know how it goes :)
I've been playing this deck with a slight variation since I don't have Ysera and Violet Teacher. I put Mekkatorque (yes, I know, just for the yolo) and put an additional water elemental (thinking of put one Yeti though), and I must say, I'm having the most fun :D
It's so funny when people concede when you have your ethereal arcanist 5/5 with counterspell or spellbender and they lose a big removal hahaha!
Still, I'm struggling with rush deck, since the there's only one AoE removal e no taunts. What do you think of putting one defender of argus? I don't have the card so I don't know.
In my latest version of this deck I actually move towards more AoE (Fleiva does the opposite); I'm going to do some experimentation both ways and see what happens.
In theory, this version has more minions than mine so the Defender could work. I would consider an Abomination in a less minion heavy version.
I've just earned a golden Black Knight in the Arena, I'm considering swapping it for polymorph because I feel 6 MP to completely remove 1 card is not as efficient as fireballing in most cases, and I'd be swapping it for a conditional removal with board presence.
Now, I could break it and create any card I wanted with the 1600 dust...what to do, what to do.
I just crafted a Black Knight. I'm going to test it out as well...seems practical. Usually i've only needed to use polymorph once during my rank play down to 14.
I'm getting results with it, seems to work well.
Now I'm also thinking on replacing violet teacher for another water elemental, many games where I need him nowadays and I don't get him drawn.
Thanks, mind telling me what you were using? I'm curious now :o
This deck got me THREE ragnaros LOL
-Mirror Entity copied opponents ragnaros, Faceless Manipulated opponents ragnaros, summoned 1 ragnaros
Rofl awesome, I did something similar, played Ysera, got Dream on the first turn, the enemy used faceless manipulator on it, I used dream on his Ysera, put a Mirror Entity up knowing that he'd fall for it, and used manipulator on my own Ysera, ended up with 3 too and sheep'd his, lol.
I've been trying to make a secret deck work for a long time now. I always like seeing new attempts at the deck. The reason Ice Block is so good is not necessarily because it gives you another turn, its because it triggers the effect on Ethereal Arcanist better then any other secret, because it is hard for your opponent to trigger the effect of Ice Block so it stays there allowing your Arcanist to grow into the beast he was meant to be.
I know, in fact in the post that origined me posting this deck publicly I mention Ice block and I'm aware of that bonus, I don't have the card and after crafting Ysera I ran out of dust, I might eventually test it.
That being said, I have 2 issues with the concept of Ice block in this deck:
1) Ethereal Arcanist is a card you put on the board after you've gained control, not before, meaning that the moment to put it out is exactly that moment when you can put a vaporize and an Ice barrier out and know that your enemy cannot proc them.
2) If you want a secret to back up Ethereal Arcanist it's spell bender or counterspell, not Ice block, Ice block doesn't really guarantee the growth of the arcanist considering any decent player will see it as a threat and use hard removals on him asap. Due to this, I use him as a removal bait, so I can get to turn 9, get Ysera out, and laugh at my enemy because he doesn't have any removal left.
Would archmage antonidous be an acceptable replacement for Ysera?
It's more conditional because you cannot put it out unless you clear board first or unless you protect him, this deck lacks board protection (taunts) and the role Ysera plays relies on blocking hard removals.
Though, this deck has 15 spells, that's way more than most decks use to have, so getting value out of antonidas is quite possible.
That being said, I don't have the card, all this is theory based on my experience on how the deck is played, feel free to test it and let us know how it goes.
This is a nice version ill have to try it out, i have been running a deck alot like it as it seems most decks depend on just a few spells that must be countered at critical junctions.
Counterspell/Ice Block have won me countless games as so many agro decks these days depend on a key spell/trick to blast you down from 20+ hp on one turn, or pyroblast you @ 10 hp.
Additionally i imagine that the look on a hunters face when you counter his turn 6/7 leroy+timber+hounds combo is priceless.
Got to admit today I played a game vs a warlock, who used two +4+4 boosters on a Leroy, and I was kind of wishing I had ice block on at that point, but still, I feel I lost the game due to the awful luck drawing cards, not cause of the last burst.
I feel most of the games you get bursted down that hard is because you couldn't control the board, and with as many removals as this deck has, the only issues you should have are against rush and control shamans, ice block won't help you that much in those cases.
Fleiva, first of all thank you for this awesome deck.
Second, I didn't have Ysera so I substituted it with ragnaros. Was this an even exchange?
I noticed I had great control mid-game. Deck played with @ 4wins out of 5
At one point I was able to faceless manipulate my own Ragnaros that made a total overkill for a decisive win.
THANKS!
Like Ysera, Ragnaros is a card that has instant effect and scales with time, perfect with the protective secrets, so yeah, it's probably my second choice, good call.
Glad you're enjoying the deck!
