...you had to be there, history has been made.
REPLACEMENT
Ysera -> Nefarian Nefarian is faster ( higher attack and 2 cards) but risky (BGH - SW:D)
Vol'jin -Boom or Sylvanas (if you play boom than you better use Nefarian too). Harrison is ok, Loatheb would be a bad filler and Thaurissan has no place here.
Twilight Guardian - Mandatory 2x. Taunt+dragon has no replacement
Cabal Shadow Priest - You need at least one cabal to steal opponent's minibot, hounds, acolyte. Replace the second at will. MCT and Sylvanas are quite obvious. One more dragon can help, lightbomb is bad.
Most people run 1 bgh
True. Chillmaw can sometimes be a game changer, with the additional board clear. But I feel Azure Drake is important as well, because of the Spell Damage +1, which will increase the power of Holy Nova. You might take out Dragonkin Sorcerer, since I never find it very helpful in this deck.
I'd take out Vol'jin for it instead. Dragonkin sorceror may not be amazing but it's both a dragon and a 4 drop and given the only other 4 drop in the deck is guardian it just helps keep the mana curve a touch more consistent. Plus every now and then you get the value of hitting sorceror with a pw:shield or velen's to pull off some big trades.
Calling the guys who made this deck one of the top decks on this site lazy? That seems like a slap in the face. Anyway I have been using a varietion of this deck for a while and have not been slapped around to hard for it.
He's definitely talking about the 90% of players just using these decks.
Suprised Chillmaw doesn't make it into the deck: great anti-aggro, anti-patron, and anti-mechmage card; even shuts down secret pally sometimes. I've been using it in place of Vol'Jin who seems kind of weak with only corruptors and novas to finish big targets off (which is a 10 mana combo).
I am getting to the point that I'm bored with the deck. Don't get me wrong, it's made playing priest a bit more competitive, but you now see 100 million priests out there now and they're all playing the same deck. I'm hitting mirror matches about 20-25% of the time. And the meta is changing because people's decks are all geared to counter this deck, so the win rate if much lower.
Got to rank 5 with this deck and now I am getting absolutely rekt.... I have dropped all the way down to 7... I win 1 and lose 3..
100% wins is bullshit, of course. The deck is very weak against agro paladins. If you don't get both holy novas in time, you basically lose the game.
Personally I have a 57% win rate (31-23). Mostly my losses have come from the fastest Palas, Hunters and Mages. When i have drawn badly in the early game against these decks (no Whelps, Wyrmrests or Cultists) I often find myself unable to recover and take back board control. There are however great chances to do so with the Twilight Guardians and Holy Novas. And if I recover I almost always win. I replaced one Shrinkmeister with Alexstrasza primarily for the mirror match-up, but it also works great against the decks mentioned earlier for healing when they are out of steam, or to create a OTK if you have enough damage on board. I also run two SW:P instead of two SW:D just because of the lack of control decks.
Best match-ups: Shaman, Druid, Patron, Mech Mage. Worst match-up: Freeze Mage
General Mulligan:
Always Keep: Whelp, Wyrmrest
If you draw Whelp and/or Wyrmrest: Any Dragon, Cultist, Velen's Chosen, SW:P, (PW:S - Always keep with Coin)
And lastly, I do think a Deathlord-variation of Control Priest is better in the current meta, because this decks does lack some removal. As a long time Control Priest I often have to rely on turn 4 Auchenai-Circle combo or Shadow Madness to deal with very fast decks.
It seems the meta has adapted to this deck. It was great at first, gained several ranks as a result. Loved it. Now...it's just getting slammed by everything out there it seems. Anyone else noticing this change in the meta?
Control Warrior, which I used to dominate, has changed big time, most of which are destroying this deck. Aggro Mages and Pallies have now adapted and are beating this deck extremely easily.
Even Druids are having an easy go at this deck now.
After gaining 4 ranks, and having about an 75% win rate...I'm now on a 6 match lose streak. Going to have to dump this deck if it continues 1-2 more matches.
The problems I'm seeing here, are the lack of silence (which seems to be so desperately needed), lack of early game control (aggro decks just run over it like it was nothing), and lack of any serious damage. Every deck out there is able to control the board now, removing almost every one of my minions. And if this deck doesn't take early control and keep it, it's gg. And now that every deck out there has found a way to take control away from this deck, I'm finding it to be a losing deck on the ladder.
Yep, losing early game control will kill any tempo deck w/o board clearing ability, including this dragon deck.
Any1 else thinks shrinkmeister is useless??
it is not, you combo with cabal shadow priest and you can steal sludge belcher or minions like that plus its 3/2 and it can trade
it saved me lot of times, but sometimes if u get both of them in ur starting hand u might play them in order to not let ur oponent fill the board to fast
Worst case scenario, it's a 3/2 for only 2 mana. That's very good (generally a minion is considered to be well worth the cost if its attack/health combined is double the mana cost).
If you notice in one of Kolento's videos, he keeps Shrink in his draw hand and uses it on turn 1 or 2 (can't recall). He didn't get the combo out of it, but was able to use it as an early threat.
Ideally, you want to play this as a combo though.
Combo Possibility #1: You can kill minions with an attack of 4-5 if you use this then Shadow Word: Pain.
Combo Possibility #2: You can capture minions with attack 3-4 if used with Cabal Shadow Priest.
It's a great card for the priest, not useless at all.
Combo Possibility #1: You never draw Shadow Word: Pain until turn 6 or 7 (high possible since you run only 1) and it become juz a 3/2 minion, which can be easily killed by any aggro deck.
Combo Possibility #2: You can capture minions with attack 3-4 if used with Cabal Shadow Priest, only until turn 8, when survival is the very first thing you need to care, instead of board control.
I agree it's a great card, but in construct, it's only conditionally great.
Shrink master + Shadow Word Pain is a killer. Shrink master + Cabal Shadow Priest is very nice as well. Other than that, not entirely useless, but situational
Are we supposed to play this full control? all board control? thank you
It depends on your match up and hand. When Kolento has obvious board advantage I've seen him just go face. Let your opponent deal with having to trade since your cards generally give you higher value. If things turn sour you have saving grace cards like Shadow Word: Death or Vol'jin. And you have the Cabal Shadow Priest + Shrinkmeister combo.
Generally speaking, you always want to keep board advantage.
Guys, how do you think, can changing of one Shrinkmeister for Eydis Darkbane be useful?
