I've been playing pogo decks ever since the card got released, and feel like it's finally time to share this list and give some tips out of personal experience. The list won't do much, but your playstyle and decision-making will. I took the time to make an in-depth overview on how to play your matchups and actually play pogo rogue right, because I see WAY too many people play it wrong. The reason it has only a 30% winrate on hsreplay is because people play the deck maybe 3 times, they don't put the effort or practise into it and just discard it as a trash deck. I believe that with enough practise you can make anything work, and set myself the challenge to climb as high as possible with the deck next season. This first season I've mainly been refining this deck and its playstyle at rank 5 to 3, and been able to float around 60% winrate overall. And if you don't believe me, I play it live on stream and keep track of the score, as well as post my deck tracker stats regularly. People can shit on pogo rogue all they want, they can't stop me :)
I hope I can help some people have fun and perform well with pogo rogue, thanks for your time!
Here is the new list and guide post-buff! https://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/1284610-rank-5-to-legend-pogo-rogue
I bet you all are excited for the buffs, and so am I! so here are 4 pogo deck concepts, after some testing and perfecting I'll share the final decklist with guide as well https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2fEGRjIa_q4
Nice deck, really ! I enjoy playing it !
If Xylliax is bottom deck, you're quite fucked up ! Maybe adding 1 Sunfury should be a nice idea (for your 25/25 Pogo-Hopper at late game)
Wondering if you still think prep is worth running with the nerf to it. Personally I think it just sits in my hand too much and have been considering replacing it I tried swapping prep out for 2 evis and it was working out ok. thoughts?
i think prep is still a good include, it can make for bigger swing turns which is what a deck like this needs. I also don't run sprints so the deck doesn't suffer that much from it. I could however see you replacing it or running only 1 copy to experiment with other cards, but I wouldn't add spells then (since evis is just as good with the nerfed prep as with the old one)
People have been adressing the pogo change to 1 mana, after looking at many different lists currently being experimented with I'll be looking to make a tempo pogo rogue instead of a slow combo deck like this. Completely different playstyle and winconditions. No clue if it'll be any better, but I have high hopes, will post the list with some gameplay in a couple weeks if it turns out to do well, so keep checking in! :)
Yes pls! I'm tired of thinking. I'll just copy yours :)
Where has this been announced?
here: News update
Pogo Rogue will never be viable until they release more cards with an adjoining effect. It's too slow and unreliable.
Stay tuned for new cards, I reckon the devs will be looking for ways to shake up rogue next expac so this could be one thing they focus on.
Pogo-Hoppers are getting their Mana Cost reduced from 2 down to 1.
This deck might get some more attention come June 3rd. 1-Mana Pogo-Hoppers incoming!
half-curious, half-noClue .... what can make the pogo 1 mana ?
I enjoyed playing pogo deck a lot and i have dust left for 1 more legendary so what to choose between Tak or Barista ? I have all the other card so its only those 2 i'm missing.
Tak will probably get you the most wins, but barista is a lot of fun to experiment with, also in different decks!
-1 Swamp Ooze
I can't find a use of it lately and it got draw often from Piper when I want Pogo or Lab Recruiter
+ Heistbaron (3 Cards for Zero Mana or two Legendarys, oh yeah. :) )
alternative would be too Nomi (1+2 Backstep, Nomi + Myras Element = Win most time)
Or Edwin
sure but then your wincondition is no longer pogo's, but rather togwaggle, nomi or edwin. I explained to others as well that you're probably better off just playing a solid nomi rogue or togwaggle rogue instead then. This is a deck that doesn't want dead draws or cards sitting in hand like those, the more reactive/proactive stuff the better. But ofc you can play this deck however you want!
It's one Acidic Swamp Ooze for a Heistbaron Togwaggle. If need be, you can play either for tempo. Yea, ooze pretty much anytime but the chance for such a great card off togwaggle is what Skaven13 is going for. I see the value but I see your point as well. Im not sure where I stand on this ultimately....but Im open to either.
edit: win condition is still pogos though. lets be clear. but there is a hail mary play with the togwaggle.
Fist of all: great deck guide! I am FTP and just got a Tak and with your guide I finally know what to do with it. Î removed one Novice Engeneer for a Fan of Knives- Gives me better chance against token decks I'd say. I also added two Sprints instead of an Unstable Element and the second Vanish. I usually had a pretty full hand and did not want to draw more than five cards plus it gives me the option to get more cards early on withput risking to loose combo pieces. What do you think?
Thanks! According to the stats fan of knifes is one of the worst cards in the deck so I wouldn't make it a 2-off, especially since it's only decent in 1 matchup, novice is one of the keys to making this deck work. I also explained in the video why I think myra's is insane, it's won me a lot of games. Even if you burn a couple combo pieces, if you're desperate it can still clutch out a win. I've never been a fan of sprint because it usually takes up a whole turn, or you need exactly prep+sprint which is still 4 mana. My hand is already full most of the time when you use novice and pipers with the spirit and shadowsteps as a drawing engine. Isn't sprint often a dead card in your hand? I rather play out cheap stuff for draw and get a board meanwhile, but everyone has a different playstyle for sure. This might make aggro matchups a bit harder tho
