**UPDATED with some core changes**
Play it like Odd Paladin.
Imp Masters / Microtech Controllers are helping us to get wide on the board and benefit from a big Frostwolf Warlord. Thanks to our damage free Hero Power, we never run out of steam.
Faceless Manipulator is there for multiple reasons;
- To dublicate Leeroy Jenkins,
- To clone our opponents ridiculous minions like Mountain Giant or Ragnaros the Firelord
- To double Raid Leaders on board (like Savage Roar),
- To double our taunts.
Grim Rally is the best tool to activate Voodoo Dolls. Sanguine Reveler is also another good option.
Lord Jaraxxus is not a-must-have. You can replace it with Stormwind Champion or the second Faceless Manipulator.
Cards to consider:
Here's a wonderful video made by kiwiinbacon showcasing what this desk is actually capable of.
Here's another interesting video that may help you gain better insight into the deck. Courtesy of brilliant YouTuber Tommy Wave.
**I will add more detailed guide if I get positive feedback**
Don't understand why people think this deck is pointless. The reason why the upgraded hero power is called soul tap is that instead of dealing 2 damage to your life total, you are dealing 2 damage to your opponent's soul. This is actually a decent deck and when you win your opponent, you are permanently damaging their soul.
This is why I wanted to make odd warlock work because there isn't a more powerful deck that can damage your opponent's soul in real life.
go with beast hunt
This list is really interesting and I really like being able to play an aggro list without the heal package. It was a blast to play and I decided to make a video showcasing the deck in all of its glory. I really hope you enjoy it :D
Thanks, my dude. I like seeing that you've tried Shrieking Shroums too. :)
GG Kiwi - big fan. I was the odd mage you beat - playing it for the first time in a while and yep I was not drawing into the board clears I needed... I had an Astromancer and the Dragonhawk and kept drawing small minions
The 2 face damage really makes 0 difference in a deck that attempts to out-tempo anyway, don't understand why anyone would ever try to combo baku with warlock. I like the attempt though
Dealing 6 damage to yourself just to draw 3 cards without putting anything on board is not that efficient. 6-8 extra health can be decisive factor whether you're the winning or the losing side. Despite Divine Favor Odd Paladin runs out of steam so easily and lose most of the match-ups just solely because of it. Odd Warlock doesn't have such problem.
The main point of this deck was to come up with an alternative to Odd Paladin. Most of the people are not aware of it but Odd Paladin is going to lose 18 out of 30 of its cards with the upcoming rotation. For this deck, the number is 9 and none of them irreplaceable core cards. So it can be preferable for some players who like the similar play style but looking for something fresher.
As Fishtard said, creating an odd warlock deck is nice as a deckbuilding challenge, but I disagree with the claims you made in your response about its viability and its capacity as an alternative to odd paladin.
Paying 6 mana just to draw 3 cards without putting anything on board is not that efficient, self damage or not. 6-8 extra health will not make any difference about 80% of the time. Odd paladin doesn't run out of steam so easily (the hero power allows you to retain resources, you have divine favor and newer lists run cauldron and prince liam). No matter the deck you can't expect to win every single matchup, there's always a compromise. For example, with odd warlock, you'd be trading tempo (having two 1/1's on the board) for value (drawing a card). You might not run out of steam as fast, but you won't be able to close games as fast either, and you late game can't compete with control's late game.
Odd paladin will most likely not be gone from the meta once the rotation happens for various reasons:
1. To put it in simplsitic terms, odd paladin (similarly to odd warrior) consists on baku and 29 flex spots.
2. Most of the cards that rotate can be replaced already without too much effort.
3. New cards will be printed, and surely some will fit odd paladin
Yes, 6 - 8 damage can make the difference sometimes, but I think having evenly costed cards benefits you more than taking less damage because it allows you to curve out a lot better and include more powerful cards than some that are included in this list.
Nice idea. Voted up
