Hello guys, Hunter is not usually known for being able to OTK, but this deck uses a Spell heavy Secret hunter frame with a 4 card OTK combo.
This deck is similar to spell hunter, but sacrifices Rhok'delar, animal companions and Flanking strike for the opportunity to OTK. The Beast Within, Oondasta, and Zul'jin all make this deck possible because Oondasta enables you to pull King Crush and Devilsaur out of your hand when you play the beast within on Oondasta. Zul'jin will replay all your secrets and almost always remove the enemy board entirely in order to break through a board of taunts and stay alive against aggro.
Emeriss is what makes this deck an OTK. If you use Emeriss once Oondasta, King crush, and Devilsaur are in hand, you get a 14/14 Oondasta, which can overkill 2 minions guaranteed and summon a 16/16 King Crush and a 14/14 Charged Devilsaur which can both go face for 30 damage. Sometimes you might not even need to play Emeriss if you can get the enemy down to 15 hp with your hero power and spellstones. Be sure to play any Zombeasts in your hand before doing this combo or Oondasta can pull the wrong beast.
The OTK combo might not be enough against armor classes or quest priest, in which case you can rely on Deathstalker Rexxar to generate big beasts until you get the enemy down below 30.
If the meta is quite fast, then Emeriss can be cut for a more defensive spell like Animal Companion or Flanking Strike and it can just be a 15 damage combo instead. Be aware that without Emeriss, however, Oondasta will be unable to Overkill anything bigger than a 6/6. Since Emeriss is usually bad in most decks, it might not be worth crafting just for the OTK meme though. If you do have Emeriss, this combo could be a lot of fun.
2 copies of Master's Call can draw the 4 minion combo pieces very consistently since there are only 5 minions in the deck, and only 1 is not a beast. Essentially, that means on the first Master's call, if you do not draw 3, you pick Emeriss and then the next Master's call (or Zul'jin) will draw 3 guaranteed.
Subject 9 will get all of your remaining secrets out of the deck, and with Master's call you can generally get Subject 9 in play and still draw 3-5 cards consistently. which will be important to find The Beast Within and get to your combo as well as activate your spellstones.
Could this be the expansion that Hunter will actually have a solid OTK deck? I am certainly looking forward to trying out this deck and see how it does! Let me know what you think or if you have a suggestion to make the deck better. Thanks for checking out the deck!
Hey man. I've been running this deck on ladder and am having great success. Sometimes the tempo gained from secrets and Greater Emerald Spellstone win games alone. Zul'jin can really turn games with the Deadly Shot, Crushing Walls, summoning wolves and a load of secrets. On top of that, it can draw the rest of the combo if you have only drawn and played one Master's Call. Deathstalker Rexxar snowballs against control decks. The combo itself is really satisfying, and is not hard to pull off. Fantastic deck, thanks for sharing
good to hear that! I actually still need some of the cards myself, need to do more arena haha. Glad it is working like I thought it would!
Depends on the meta i guess. If there are a lot of big minions in the meta, hunter's mark will be better. If there are a lot of decks that like to fill up the board quickly, crushing walls will be better. If Crushing Walls is near the bottom of your deck and you have to play Zul'jin before you find it, you could lose to a flooded board, since you will only kill 2 minions. So I think 2 is better just for consistency, whereas Hunter's mark is generally only needed against big minions, but I think this deck will be good against decks that like to run big minions anyway.
While is isn't an OTK, it will be easier to use Dire Frenzy on a large charge minion (e.g. Charged Devilsaur, King Krush, or a Zombeast) and then play Flark's Boom-Zooka followed by Revenge of the Wild. The first wave of beasts kills their taunts while the wave summoned by Revenge of the Wild can charge face.
Nope. one bad draw, or you opponent has removal, and you lose the game. Not even going to be remotely consistent. Unfortunately, you can't make your beasts stay in your deck until you happen to have the combo in hand. Also, even a best case scenario, you get 24 damage on the board, which isn't as much as this deck. The main difference is that this deck isn't dependent on having lucky draw or expecting the opponent to not have removal. Everything can be played from hand in one turn
That is the point of the dire frenzy. You don't care if you drew Krush early because you are just going to shuffle three copies of the beast you want into your deck. Also, yes, this combo does less than yours, but it doesn't rely on on pulling off an Emeriss while not dying (and, if you don't play emeriss, my combo does 9 more).
Good luck shuffling king crush into your deck. play him and he will get removed. No shuffle ever is going to happen consistently. And even when you do finally shuffle him, have fun with the salt you get from topdeck king crush. since it will be the most likely draw in your deck. The only way it could work is DOUBLE dire frenzy, but now you are really just expecting your opponent to do nothing when you play king crush
Nice!
Just one thing though:
That can't happen, the options you get always cost 5 or less (because otherwise you'd end up with unplayable zombeasts sometimes)
Ah. wasnt sure if you could ever pick a big one and then it only showed small options after. I'll remove that. Thanks!
Yes Emeriss can for sure be cut in a fast meta. It will be nice to have if the meta slows down. I added a little section in the middle as a note for possible replacements in a fast meta. I also just think it is more of a "fun" card to smash your opponent in the face really hard in one turn lol. The problem with not running Emeriss is that Oondasta will not be able to overkill big stuff like Lich King or he could potentially just die. 14/14 oondasta guarantees being able to pull them out. In a fast meta, you probably dont care about that guarantee though and there will be enough small stuff that it could still work, so yeah, Emeriss is mainly for the meme.
For Master's Call, are you sure it discovers the card itself and not a copy of it? if its a copy then both times doesn't guaranty 3 cards it doesn't say copy...usually discover is a copy situation...
But nice idea for a deck should be really fun!
This has been discussed by popular streamers that I have watched, so I am fairly certain that it will either draw 1 card or draw 3 cards, not a copy of the card, or else it would indicate that it was a copy of that minion like with Stitched Tracker
