We have a Hunter deck that has proven successful for several different players. Currently the fifth best deck on the ladder, this arsenal combines Secrets and early control to clear the way for some very dangerous beasts, such as Savannah Highmane, King Krush, or one of Deathstalker Rexxar’s Zombeasts.
Just wondering, has anyone got to legend with this deck?
Barnes with secret keeper and spellbreaker feels kind of bad.....50/50 worthwhile targets for Barnes with Crush essentially being a Patches with Barnes. I really like this deck but would it work better with charged devilsaurs in place of secret keepers or Barnes/violet wurm? I was thinking about spending my patch dust on the dino(crush/devilsaur)/katherena package but I'm not sure if it's a good choice or not, anyone care to weigh in for me to help make my decision?
is it worth to craft Kathrena Winterwisp for this deck?
i crafted her to get golden hunter but this deck is pretty bad. i prefer egg, cube and charged devilsaur decklist aka "dino hunter" aka "welcome to un'goro mf".
Does anyone have any solid refinements to this deck they found consistent improvements in?
I love this deck but I'm torn on what to switch because of a lack of consistency. Sure you can just say get good, but I think that 2 card changes could be a big help here for a higher win rate. Just curious about different opinions.
For example:
picking
Tracking vs Stitched Tracker
Snake Trap vs Flame Trap
Flanking Strike vs Wandering Monster
You could try the 5th fleet version:
- 1 x Tracking
- 1 x Snake Trap
+2 x Explosive traps
I agree. I have came across the situation where I tracked into 2-3 big cards and cry a single tear when I have to scrap the others...
Been sorta running a more dino oriented version of this for fun. I wish I could try this version out to compare. But I already dusted barns, so oh well. On to the future men!!
I'm still undecided if it's better to run 1x Explosive Trap insted of 1x Snake Trap
Explosive Trap works better against aggro decks and token deks like Pally, Druid and Shammy but Snake Trap give "more tempo" against mid range and control decks ;)
Any suggestion?
Kibler said on Omni that explosive is not good enough because most of the stuff is 3 health and this deck doesn’t have easy ways to do 1 damage.
I have been playing this a bit with Explosive, and I find that statement about the 3 health minions to be pretty accurate. The times that I got Explosive to work even in early game it left minions up with 1 health (and often 1 attack). I think I'm gonna take it out.
I might actually put in a second Flare. Seems nice for card draw, but also went up against a mage with Ice Block with this deck for the first time earlier, and obviously Flare was nowhere to be found. Still won, but how satisfying it would be to remove Ice Block with Flare? I anticipate great satisfaction haha.
I've tried a version with 2 flares and the consistency drops off a cliff. I switched them back out.
well Snake Trap can be replaced with Venomstrike Trap I suppose, for a budget replacement. Does a similar thing, but is rare instead of epic.
this is just dino hunter with less dino, more dino is always the answer
The deck is good but it's not new. Recruit hunter was popular when the Kobolds expansion first came out. Players were running this list with 1x violet wurm from day one. I know because I've been playing it since then. The only difference is that initially there were two flanking strikes which I recommend because they are great tempo cards.
eh its been refined alot. and the nerfs made it better.
What can you use to replace DeathStalker Rexxar?
I don't really think that there's a replacement for the DK Rexxar as it's so unique, but if you don't have him I guess you could put in a Charged Devilsaur instead. There's no other card that does what the DK cards do in each class.
Rexxar is probably best when the game goes longer like vs some control match up, but the games don't always last so long.
I would add another big beast to generate a little bit more value/consistency in the deck. Unfortunately you will be losing both board control and the incredible amount of threat genration/value of Deathstalker Rexxar . If you can craft it, I would recommend doing that. If not, just throw in a Charged Devilsaur or something like that.
I guess a second Violet Wurm would have synergy with Barnes.
