I have decided to discontinue updating this deck due to the rotation of it's core cards. Thank you to for all the support I have received during the span of the year of the mammoth and raven.
If you have any questions or suggestions please let me know down in the comments.
This was the F2P tempo list for my alternate account, I will try my best to update it every expansion. If you don't own either of the Vilespine Slayers you can replace them with Sap. I do however highly recommend having at least one as it is currently one of the most important cards in the deck.
While this deck lacks a good chunk of important (But expensive) cards like Prince Keleseth, Leeroy Jenkins and Edwin VanCleef. It can still manage to aggressively take the win by utilizing your powerful mid game minions and cheap burst damage. A new card I've been excited for that was recently added in the Witchwood expansion is Hench-Clan Thug, this card is insanely threatening in the early to mid-game and I am glad it can fit in this list only being a common, you will almost always want this in your opening hand as it by it self can snowball into a giant minion your opponent will have a hard time dealing with. Cobalt Scalebane and Fungalmancer work very well to keep your side of the board strong, while other cards like Elven Minstrel and Shadowstep help you gain the value needed to keep throwing down pressure. The most expensive card in this list (in terms of dust), which of course is Vilespine Slayer, is replaceable by Sap, but I highly recommend having at least one as it is very strong and works very well with Shadowstep.
Due to Baku the Mooneater paladin I decided to keep in the two copies of Fan of Knives as it is apart of the basic set and does well at keeping their small tokens off the board. Shadowblade was a strong card I considered in the past but later found that Deadly Poison fit the deck better as it was apart of the basic set and works well with the other cards that requires a combo activation.
Mulligan
The Basics: The goal of this deck is to push for board control and win by utilizing your strong early to mid game minions. In all match ups, the most important cards to fish for in the Mulligan stage are your early game minions and cheap removal. Cards like Backstab and Fire Fly are going to be the highest priority as they offer the best value in maintaining the board in the early stages of the game. If you are going second, keeping one SI:7 Agent or Elven Minstrel will be a good idea as coining it can swing the board or give a lot of value early on.
Against Aggro: When playing against aggressive decks, maintaining the board in the early game will be the highest priority as falling behind will result in a quick and overwhelming defeat. the most important cards to mulligan for will be: Hench-Clan Thug Tar Creeper, SI:7 Agent, Backstab and Fire Fly.
Against Control: When playing against slower decks, overwhelming your opponent early on and gaining the value necessary to keep applying pressure will be important, Elven Minstrel is by far one of the strongest cards in these match ups as being able to draw your threats is absolutely necessary to stay in the game. Shadowstep will be your best friend when it comes to staying ahead as being able to get back another Vilespine Slayer and Elven Minstrel is very important. The Mulligan is very similar, just fish for your early game cards and keep SI:7 Agent if you are going second. Note that Spellbreaker is a must have against Warlock as stopping them from getting out a Voidlord early on will be game changing.
Not strong enough, I wouldn't recommend running her
Hey i was just wondering what a swashburglar would be like in here and if so what would i replace?
I don't think Swashburglar would fit this kind of list. In the past it saw play in these kinds of lists but only because of Patches the Pirate.
I would add in another Tar Creeper
does blink fox or cuthroat buccaneer fit into this deck? thx
I'm actually running Blink Fox in my non-budget list for fun and its been doing okay, I'm not entirely sure how it effects the winrate but I'll consider adding it in this list as it is inexpensive and may actually be a good fit, I do however would like to avoid adding in more three drops as It already contains a fair amount. On the other hand, Cutthroat Buccaneer just seems too weak as it has poor stats with a small upside that requires a combo activation.
With the addition of the witchwood packs would there be any good card you could to improve this deck.
I've actually been considering updating this list and might do so in the near future, the new expansion did recently come out though so it might take a week or two as I will be working on other decks. A card that does come to mind though is Hench-Clan Thug, this card seems very strong for this kind of archetype and I might even fit it into my non-budget list, I'll try my best to see if I can come up with something viable and will update it in here once I find the time.
This is a really good deck but i find myself always relying on leroy for the finishing blow. Is that a good thing or bad thing?
Leeroy Jenkins is always going to act as your finisher so it would make sense for him to be landing the final blows. I'd say he's doing his job well... Which in my books is a good thing :)
what can i take out for Vilespine Slayer?
Sap
While Fal'dorei Strider is a very strong card, it would probably be too slow for a tempo deck like this.
Take out a Deadly Poison
What is about swashbuckler?
Swashburglar would be too weak for this list.
is the DK rouge card good in this deck?
Unfortunately not, most games will be over by turn 9 and even if you manage to pull it off, it will be too slow for a deck like this.
Do you think it would be nice to put Razorpetal Lasher or Razorpetal Volley in this deck? (to activate combos with the petals)
And if i add it, what card should I take out to put it in?
Note: I have added Edwin VanCleef, Leeroy Jenkins and Corridor Creeper also. And the deck is doing great!
I personally would avoid putting in either, both are a bit too slow for this type of deck and don't offer enough value to be worth using.
