This card is actually not that great. Haunted Creeper is actually a lot better. They both have the same casting cost and give you a 1/2 creature. The deathrattle effect from the creeper is better than splitting of the ooze.
That said, this card is a lot of fun and useful in some awesome combos.
For example, I just played a match against heroic Grobbulus, where I casted an ooze and then:
Mutating Injection (Thoughtsteal from Grobbulus)
Power Word: Shield
Divine Spirit twice,
and then
Inner Fire
to get 2 32/32 oozes at the end of the turn!!
That's 11 mana.
Keep in mind that the 2/4 worth of stats is split across two 1/2 bodies (which trade horribly with everything).
I love this card! I'm tinkering with an Oozadin deck at the moment. I don't think its necessarily the most powerful but its fun to play!
Coin + Echoing Ooze + Cold Blood : 2 5/2 for a T2
Echoing ooze looks especially powerful in Paladin decks because of various buffs and divine shield.
Paladin cards that have synergy with ooze:
- Sword of Justice
- Argent Protector
- Blessing of Kings
- Blessing of Might
- Blessing of Wisdom
- Hand of Protection
Insane draw potential with Wisdom, two t6 5/6 monsters (without coin), divine shields for Blood Knight - there's many things to look forward to in paladin decks.
turn 2: coin + Sword of Justice ((+ pray that your opponent won't play Acidic Swamp Ooze ))
turn 3: Echoing Ooze + Blessing of Might
you will have a 5/3 ooze and a 6/4 ooze in turn 3, i dont think that your opponent will be capable of get rid of those 2 in his turn 4
This guy has a really cool animation, I hope to see more stuff like it in future expansions! =)
As mentioned, this guy is a great target for some kind of permanent boost the turn you play him, as his copy will also get that. That said, this is also fine just as a two drop. You're getting two bodies for 2 mana and they're 1/2 at that. They don't just die to hero powers. All in all I like this guy. On the other hand I'm still on the fence whether this guy is better than the 1/2 spider with deathrattle.
I sense Rogues being like: Ooze, cold blood, cold blood, faceless manipulator, conceal. That way (if I can count) you have 4 9/2 oozes. And that is how you get VALUE out of Consecration.
Are we sure this is how it will work? It's a battlecry, which is "activated" at the start of the turn. When is the "info" copied? When the cry goes off? Or does the cry just ensure it will be a copy of the exact minion at the time of cloning (end of turn)?
This might seem like I'm over-analyzing it, but we need to know what happens if the minion gets buffed mid-turn then dies. Is it a 1/2 that comes out as the copy? Or the stats it had when it died?
Why would you think a battlecry is activated at the start of the turn? Why wouldn't it just do what's on the card?
Interesting combos:
My favorite: Ancient Mage = lots of spell power minions
Argent Protector = divine shield farm for Blood Knight.
Ancestral Spirit = Lots of nearly endless oozes for Bloodlust fun.
Blessing of Wisdom = LOTS of draw potential
Temple Enforcer or Dark Cultist = beefy oozes
Windfury = double strike fun
You could have played the Cultist the turn prior and then run it into something and trigger the Deathrattle onto the Ooze you played that turn.
I think buffing it with Dark Iron Dwarf or Abusive Sergeant will make a new copy with permanent 3/2, isn't it?
But "at the end of the turn" first copy will still have 3/2, so next turn we should get 1/2 + 3/2.
Hard to say. But my best guess is that because those buffs are "Attack + this turn". So when you end the turn it gets removed and also, when you end your turn your Ooze copies it self. So both effects resolve at the same time--end of turn. Which results in no permanent effect from a temporary effect.
