Remember C'Thun that was running everywhere in standard, clearing the board when you had 0 minions and mass produced sodium chloride?
How about 5 mana without the body?
...Malygos Shaman in Wild.
...
Boarclears for days..!
Maly could kill itself hahaha
then it would only do 20 damage...
Back in 2014 I loved Shaman and got him Golden only by playing midrange - control decks, which always end around turn 10 at least or later. If this expansion brings back control shaman, I will be so happy.
Probably there will be some synergy with this card such as every time your minion takes a damage adapt and that will drive us insane fuck Shaman
Elemental Destruction for 8 mana is better board clear than Volcano for 7
But, Elemental Destruction is getting rotated out.
I can argue that Elemental Destruction deals more damage solely based on how many minions your opponent control. Elemental Destruction is still generally a better board clear as it hard to fill your board with minions above 5 health (unless you are a Jade Druid ofc)
It is true that Volcano can deal better with small number of high health minions.
Synergy with Acolyte of Pain if you running out of cards and lost board control...
I see it as an anti Zoo card.
Thank goodness, zoo was totally overwhelming ladder recently.
/s
To be fair, since the nerfs to small time and spirit claws, I've queued into a lot of zoo recently. Granted, I'm at around rank 14 at the moment so I'm not sure if the pattern continues the higher the rank. However, even if zoo becomes a big issue, by the time volcano hits, zoo is going to lose a couple cards (Dark Peddler and Imp Gang Boss so chances are it won't become a big issue if even an issue at all.
I'm glad Blizzard is going for a Shaman card more focused on Control than anything else. Overall, it's a playable card that works really well when your board is lacking in comparison to the enemy's (a problem that many Control Shamans run into), and the RNG makes it situationally unreliable as a method of balancing the card. It combos really well with Hallazeal the Ascended and is also an easily drafted card in Arena. Overall, good work Blizzard!
KRAKATOA
Seriously? No face damage? What is even the point of a random damage card if you can't go for 15 damage to your own face?
Thank god we have an Elemental Destruction replacement for standard
Kills a stealthed 14/14 Edwin VanCleef. Good enough for me!
Well Master of Disguise will be still standard.
Well they are removing Conceal so it might find some use in standard.
if you compare this to twisting nether, 7 mana deal 15 to all minions vs 8 mana destroy everything, volcano kind of sucks. it has synergy with halazeal but the thing is, you can only combo this card with halazeal on turn 10 while you can elemental destruction and halazeal on turn 8. Not to mention that halazeal has a chance to die whereas if you combo halazeal with elemental destruction it definitely lives with 1-2 hp unless you have spell damage. I know shamans had a lot of powerful cards the last 3 expansions but i would much rather prefer if shamans had shitty on curve cards and actual good board clears to push shamans in a different direction
