Hello Lightbomb My old friend...
I've come to talk with Gruul again
Within the sound of Silence.
What about our lord and savior Purify.
Blizzard Thank you for giving Priest an board clear card that dose not suck. Although I don't play Priest that much but the class needed this
Because everyone got mad at Lightbomb's removal
Well, i don't think i've ever seen a card break the 70 percent meta-defining rating here, not even the best of best legendaries, this is already at 68 percent in no time XD. To anyone who was saying they'd try to compensate for purify, hats off to ya, and boy did they deliver, still a fan of light bomb though;D.
Regardless of fact that Azure Drake is pretty common, it clears more than 90% of minions that are currently played in meta.
Clears stealthed auctioneers, x/5 councilman, the mage 6 mana 5/5 that summons a 3drop.
Malygos, Ragnaros and 4/7/7 survives.
And now uninteractive Beast Druid's 3x(5/5) combo is no longer an auto lose.
Kibler gonna kreygasm :^)
Hearthstone: Episode VI - Return of the Lightbomb
Make no mistake: Dragonfire Potion is clearly tailored toward Dragon decks, but it's a playable board clear regardless of whether or not you play Dragon Priest.
In fact, Dragonfire Potion is one of the most potent board clears Priest has received to date: it's a 5 damage board clear that wipes Aggro and checks many mid- to late-game boards, such as Grim Patron and N'zoth boards. And it's not as situational as it may seem: Dragons appear in large numbers only in specific deck archetypes. Some of the most dominant decks in the metagame, namely Aggro Shaman, Zoolock, and N'Zoth Paladin, typically run zero Dragons; Miracle Rogue runs just 2 copies of Azure Drake.
And even pitted against Dragon-heavy archetypes like Dragon Priest, Dragonfire Potion clears high-health Dragon-synergy cards such as Wyrmrest Agent, Blackwing Technician, and Blackwing Corruptor, which weaker clears such as Excavated Evil cannot do. All in all, Dragonfire Potion seems on par to fill the role Lightbomb played prior to Standard: a card both fast enough to stave off aggro and able to reset resilient boards in the late-game.
So glad this card came out, now priest in standard wont have to rely on horribly bad board clears they'd be left with in the next expansion (Holy Nova, Shadow Word: Horror)
Shadow Word: Horror doesn't look so bad anymore, now that we also have Pint-Size Potion.
since when was holy nova horribly bad?
cant kill giants like lightbomb did but still very good I'll take it.
Board clear!!!
I can't imagine the grin Kibler had on his face when he found out about this card.....
Dragons are a very popular creature type, being most of the end game creatures and Azure Drake is probably the most played Neutral minion. This is most certainly good, but it flat out can't be overpowered; it's too easy to build around, and Dragon Decks are pretty ridiculous as is.
remeber this card is pretty bad in a mirror matchup, it does not deal damage to the enemies dragons :P
Dragon Priest is actually really AOE-resistant deck, so Lightbombs, novas and exevils are also bad cards in the mirror matchups.
Turn 4 Archenai+Circle - 4 damage to all. Turn 5 Excavated Eviel - 3 damage to all. Turn 6 This Card - 5 damage to all. That is some board control for 3 turns straight. Combine with turn 1 take control of a 2 attack min or less, into a turn 2 pain, into a turn 3 death. Priest now has control for the first 6 turns
