Needs nerf, looks like Jaqen H'ghar..
Valar Dohaeris
It won't replace Water Elemental, too many weapons to counter.
i love that card!
both, effect and artwork
Hmm, could work.
This card must be a good replacement for Water Elemental in a lot of tempo decks that don't really mind the freeze effect :D
Tempo decks do mind the freeze effect. Also, water elemental isn't exactly a tempo deck staple. Oh, and tempo decks and inspire are at odds with each other. Using your hero power is a tempo loss.
Using your hero power is a tempo loss now, sure, but I'm pretty sure the primary aim of TGT is to change that :) And this is probably true for mage more than any other class, IMO.
Like nearly all of the inspire cards, this card is only going to really work if inspire mage becomes a thing. There need to be multiple inspire synergies going off on the board to get the value necessary to make this worth. I still don't see how the meta will slow down enough to make this a thing.
I sound like a broken record, but I'll say it again: too sloooooow. Next.
Coldarra Drake + Dalaran Aspirant makes Malygos look silly. (Edit: + Maiden of the Lake.)
Slow though
Blizzard is trying to slow the game down. So we'll see.
This card has a interesting concept but it takes a while to get going so I believe that water elemental and violet teacher will still be better in mage decks.
I suppose every class will eventually now get their own Aspirant :) Along with Darnassus Aspirant
It begs a interesting question. Is spell damage worth 2 mana? Based on most spell damage creatures its worth about 1 mana. So its basically a repeatable one mana spell. combine this with the basic mage power, and you have a hero power that's worth a tiny bit less than the 2 power you put into it, but hey this card is in the position where it's not always threatening enough to be removed the first turn.
