i'm wondering, why does he get to have +2 attack for having a positive affect?
7 for a 7/7 is very weak, not balanced. War Golem is generally seen as unplayable, and though not to the same extant Malorne is a rarely used card as well.
Malorne sees play more from a random beast effect generating him and Druids actually putting him in a deck.
But beyond that, class cards are supposed to be a little stronger than neutrals, to give each class an edge in some areas. And Malorne is extremely weak compared to the imbalanced 7 drop that is Dr. Boom.
This and Menagerie Warden is fantastic. xD
I miss those times when you mauled my enemies to death no matter how many times you died. Too bad you were cycled out... But no matter how many times they cycle you out you will always find a way to return to my heart!
Is it considered a death if it gets shuffled back to your deck. Like if it died like 3 times, and I use N'zoth, will I then summon 3 Malorne?
yup
Really underrated, great card
the stats, deathrattle, and animation on this beast is so good that its worth my 1600 dust boi
better version of anubarak
was playing as cw vs another cw, played Elise very very late in the game, got monkey and got this guy from it he literally single handedly won me the game he died like 5 times it was hilarious and I just kept on playing him again not even taking fatigue shit this guy is sooooo strong in control matchups it's insane
Only good vs fatique or in mill druid i think
7 mana cost is already occupied by Dr. Boom, Ancient of War and Ancient of Lore.
However the card is extremely fine as it's a sort of permanent threat in a slow metagame.
Here are the pros and cons of running Malorne in a mill druid deck.
Cons: He's expensive in a meta in which games usually end around the time that he would be dropped.
If not in your hand, he's a card in rotation in your deck, that can potentially be drawn before cards you need. Success against an aggro deck as a mill druid usually depends on three things, when you get your milling cards, when you get your board clears, when you get tree of life. Malorne is none of these, and you can potentially draw him 3 times while needing the stuff behind him.
He's a win condition for your opponent if faceless, thought stolen, or mind controlled without a silence.
Pros: He could be more expensive, and he gets great value against decks that don't silence or transform him.
He can potentially put a ton of strain on your opponent's removal if drawn consecutively or close together.
Having a constant threat that just won't go away suits the milling play-style.
I like this card in Mill. The thing is, you can always opt not to play it in priest match ups, and it is a 29/30 chance this card won't be thought stolen. Faceless Manipulator is fairly uncommon these days, most decks are tightly wound in terms of composition. Mill decks put so much into utility, two cold lights, two brews, two naturalizes, that often they lose out on raw stats of the creatures they bring to the table. Malorne's the stag in this sort of scenario, he brings potentially limitless stats to your deck, and is a durable, repeating threat in situations where the opponent can't deal with him permanently. I've enjoyed him in my deck for a little while.
Malorne is a good card, because it's stats are great and it's effect is great as well. Think of it as a Core Hound with +2 health, and it goes back into your deck. Sure, it's not a standout legendary, but it's not something people should treat it like trash. Also, this card is great against fatigue rogue. If it was a card that was common and had the stats by themselves, it would be on a lot of nerf lists.
Overall Card Grade: B
Not sure why Malorne is so unpopular. It's a simply better Core Hound - its stats are incredible. It's 2 stats more than Core Hound or War Golem. And its effect is great.
It's BGH bait, and as far as the board is concerned it might as well be a vanilla creature. Seven mana BGH bait that does nothing basically else is not worth running.
It's not the card, it's the meta. The card itself has potential. You don't care if it gets BGHed because it'll come back and BGH won't. But in a fast meta, it doesn't have time to come back.
It's like Anub'Arak, or even Dreadsteed. All those cards are theoretically infinite value, but in a fast, aggressive meta that favours tempo, you don't have the time to develop them properly.
I wonder if it could be viable now than LoE slowed things down.
that's like saying u shouldn't play anything. there are only 2 big game hunters, if u don't have more than 2 minions with over 7 attack u must be really bad at this game
malorne actually has the highest stats out of all the 7 mana cost cards
