Bolvar is the only target which gains bonus attack, not the hero. (Source)
Obtaining Bolvar directly from a player's hand, through a spell like Mind Vision, results in the clone being 1/7 even if the originating Bolvar is buffed. (Source)
Card Text
Whenever a friendly minion dies while this is in your hand, gain +1 Attack.

Spoiler alert: Bolvar gets melted and then sits on an ice throne and everyone forgets about him.
I'm running this card in my Paladin deck and I just love the entrance animation-it's glorious. It's also won me some games as I also run Tirion, Sylvanas, Rag and Dr Balanced so it chews up silence/removal. And even if he is silenced, it's still a body on the board that can be utilized.
But the main value for me is defo the entrance animation. The feels.........
I'm enjoying using this card again. I guess everyone forgot about him now dropping a 5 mana 6ish/7 late game is working wonders, the silences are burned by Sludge/Slyvanus/Emperor/tirion etc so they don't seem to have answers at all.
I was playing this in a deck with Frostwolf Warlord when I realized they are the same thing, just with different conditions that make them big. Except Frostwolf Warlord is less terrible when silenced or played without activating its condition. But Bolvar has that cool sfx when played.
Bolvar is a huge workhorse during the midgame, but also has potential during the late game. My favourite part about him is that, in a deck with Quartermaster, you have this sort off back-and-forth between the two cards, and you have your opponent trapped between two threats. Don't clear the dudes? Play Quartermaster and beat face with an army of 3/3s. Clear the dudes? Play Bolvar and win if they have no immediate answer.
once i played against this card, and i had tirion and syvannas silenced before, gg for me. This card is fearsome if the opponent or you know how to play it.
I use a golden Bolvar in my Paladin deck. When I pulled him from a pack, I considered dusting him at first for something else. If I were to use a term to describe him it would be 'red herring', but that's definitely not a bad thing!
If you draw him fairly early, he constantly grows as you trade in your early game minions and recruits. Once he's played, he provides a strong distraction that NEEDS to be silenced or removed as soon as possible. This is a huge benefit to the rest of my deck which contains a handful of big threats. If he's not removed or silenced right away, you can feel free to go wild with him and deal a lot of much needed burst damage.
In short, awesome legendary that really should get a lot more love from the players. Don't take him at face value, he's much more than meets the eye.
I like this card. I try to play it before Tirion or during fatigue turns. It usually draws out a silence meaning my Tirion soaks up several opposing cards.
First noticed this effect on a Trump video, and looked it up. According to the wiki post:
"Bolvar is the first card to feature a visual effect which varies depending on the conditions under which it is played. In this case, the lion's head visual effect produced upon summoning Bolvar is larger and brighter the higher his starting Attack."
There are too many answers for this card. Apart from normal removal, it's also vulnerable to the Big Game Hunter AND is practically useless (the equivalent of a Mogu'Shan Warden without taunt) when silenced. Compared to Mal'Ganis or Malorne, this legendary is underpowered. So, without further adieu, here's my Bolvar Fordragon rewrite:
Bolvar Fordragon |Mana Cost: 5|Attack: 8| Health: 2 | At the start of each turn, this minion's attack and health are switched and it gains divine shield.
So when you summon him he's an 8/2, but when your turn ends he becomes a 2/8 and gains a divine shield. From here he can be silenced by your opponent (making him a permanent 2/8), but he's not vulnerable to Big Game Hunter. If your opponent does not have a silence, they will want to pop his divine shield and reduce his health (which will become his attack on your turn). On your turn he regains the divine shield (if it was popped) and his attack becomes whatever his health was at the end of your opponent's turn. So he effectively switches from an offensive/defensive stance.
LMao you are a joke mate. Play the card and come back to us. I always get at least 7/7 on this guy from muster/hero power spam, on top of everything else. My best was a 10/7 on turn 8 which made my opponent concede. I thought this card looked like garb at first too, but it really grew on me after it won, I don't know, like 10 games for me on his own.
well, if TGT will bring more recruits summoning, his value will be pretty much insane.
My opponent killed my Deathlord in arena and, to my amusement, this card popped out of his deck.

In fact, this card is not as bad.
Should +2 attack instead but, increase the mana cost because of that?

I heard terrible things about this card, then read the feedback. WHY DID I DUST THIS

it should be the other way around .. make tirion eats a silence so you just with the game with a 20/7 bolvar or something

That's pretty cool :D
this guy is played in almost all midrange paladin decks

So basically an 8/8 with divine shield every turn for 5 mana? Yep, seems balanced!
