If this guy turns a minion into a new minion that has divine shield (eg. a leper gnome turns into an argent squire), will the minion get a new divine shield?
Theres no precedent in the game for this, so it's up to the devs!
Also, what will happen to modifications to attack and health, like humility? I think polymorph/hex clear any such effects, so it is consistent if recombombobulator clears them too.
Transforming a minion is the same mechanic as Polymorph or Hex. The minion does not die. It just becomes the new minion as new w/o battlecries.
Going to be sick in control priest to combo with Shadow Madness! Can't wait to play with this. :)
oh god. shadow madness sludge belcher = gg
Heck yeah! Still not sure yet whether running one or two of this combo is too inconsistent though. D:
And how exactly will other classes be able to play around this?
If we start replacing our Sludge Belchers for Spectral Knights to counter this combo, our matchups against Zoo and Huntard will suffer in turn (due to having sacrificed Taunts in favor of spell-immune minions, making it easier for the aggro opponent to continue hitting face).
And if we replaced Sludge Belchers with Sunwalkers, that wouldn't solve anything either. All the Priest player would have to do in response is add a Shrinkmeister to the combo, lowering Sunwalker's attack to within Shadow Madness range and Cabal Shadow Priest range.
So what then?
Players will still run Blechers. Players won't just throw away a card as good as blecher to just play around one new combo priest got.
It'll take much more then that.
Well, it's not just Sludge Belchers I'm worried about; what about Cairne or Ysera?
They're no longer safe either. (cough* cough* Shrinkmeister)
When I look at my priest deck, I think "what do I take out to put in recombob"? It's quite possible that important cards like holy fire, mind control, cultist, or maybe even blechers and holy nova will have to be dropped.
Not sure if it'll be worth it. Pft, I need to find something to take out for shrinkmeister first!
Priest got it really good for sure.
This card would still effect Spectral Knight it's a creature effect not a spell or hero power
This card is ridiculously OP. Three minions: sea giant, mountain giant, molten giant. Each of them can be played for just a few mana depending on the circumstances and this is basically a 2 mana faceless. With sea giant you have a chance to get a 2 mana deathwing, w/out the battlecry of course though.
Imagine facing a handlock that goes turn 4 mountain giant turn 5 double recombobulator... Or hell just <10 life molten/molten/recombobulator x2/taunt x2 (8 or 10 mana sunfury/sun or sun/argus). I guess the expansion may have cards that help with that, but damn this sounds fun.
Also need to throw in that 8 mana is also a pretty great area for this card. Tirion, alakir, grommash, gruul, ragnaros, voltron, sneeds. All pretty good value for turn 10. I'd consider always running at least 1 of these in a paladin deck with tirion and rag.
i just signed up to site to answer you, this card is not faceless you missunderstod compeletely.
it changes the card you played on. if you put turn 4 giant, turn 5 double recombobulator; you refresh your giant twice. thats all.
Yep read it wrong. In that case it's most useful at 7 mana giving about 1/3 chance at grabbing a decent legendary from the 7 mana pool.
Great for arena, meh for constructed. If I had 7 drops in arena I would always grab it.
This might be useful in arena. If you were forced to pick a trash card while drafting a deck, this card allows you to get something else. You could turn your Mana Addict into a Millhouse Manastorm without the negative battlecry. Just be careful not to get a Doomsayer!
Its gonna be insane in arena, not sure about constructed :)
Hell, with the Divine Shield down even Reckless Rocketeer is better. You even get to attack for 5 immediately!
Would be good in cases where you use it to heal an almost dead minion, or one you used solely for its battlecry.
Sadly it is doesn't have much synergy with good cards, AKA cards you would put in your deck...
Attack for 6 with Boulderfist Ogre, turn it into a Reckless Rocketeer, then attack for 5 more. COMBO!
Of course, that assumes you're lucky enough to roll a 1/25 (or lower) chance, but still.
