Hearthstone for the iPad Rollout Begins in Australia, Canada, and New Zealand
The ManaGrind Monthly Meta Report
Hearthstone's iPad Interface Changes
Update: DeathsAngel has posted their first impressions of the iPad version on a 1st gen iPad Mini.
Update: There's a new quest available to iPad users called "iPack". It gives you one expert pack of cards after completion of a game.
While the interface remains largely unchanged, we have included some screenshots of various areas of the game to give you a feel of what it looks like on the iPad. The screenshots below were taken on a 3rd generation iPad and as such, you may see minor differences on yours. The differences in interface are:
- There is a new splash screen when the app first starts which shows the hanging Blizzard Entertainment sign.
- You cannot change the resolution and quality of the game, so the options ui has been moved around.
- Chat sizes based on which keyboard you have open. If you are using a bluetooth keyboard, the keyboard UI doesn't display.
- Hearthstone can be minimized to the background so you can do other things, but you will eventually be logged out.
- Playing a Battlecry minion plays the minion onto the field and then you choose the target for the ability.
- Purchases go through the apple store, and are the same price as they are on PC.
Thanks to @smwertheimer who gave us the screenshots, and also had this to say:
Quote from @smwertheimerI'll give you some background on the photos. So that Blizzard Entertainment screen (looks like a sign hanging off an inn) is the first screen you see when you boot up the app. Almost everything is the same, except targeting minions after you have played a Battlecry. The example I use is with the card Earthen Ring Farseer. Basically, you play the card, then the app allows you to target the minion with the battlecry. The options screen is a bit more limited than the PC/Mac version, no option [exists] to change the quality. Holding your finger down on a card is the same as mousing over on the desktop app. Not sure if I can think of anything else... Hope this helps!
Multitasking works fine in game. Doesn't log you out right away (but will eventually). Don't see an option to reconnect to a game in progress though...
Deck Spotlight: Carbon's Spell-Block Mage
Continuing with Carbon deck week, today we're taking a look at the Spell-Block Mage deck which originated by Carbon member WeCoexist (sokoto). Much like the Impure Priest deck, this is also a mid-range deck which has been successful in climbing the ladder and is able to compete with tournament decks. With the amount of legendaries which are infused into this deck, it does have quite a steep crafting cost (9360 arcane dust), but luckily, the more popular ones make up most of the requirements for the deck.
Here's an introduction to the deck written by WeCoexist. For the full deck guide, visit the Spell-Block Mage deck page.
Quote from WeCoexistThe main concept of the deck is to pressure out your opponent, while maintaining board control with spells like Flamestrike, Blizzard, and Counterspell. Since the deck runs a fair bit of late game threats Counterspell works as a shield for the decks bigger creatures usually making your opponent waste removal, or burn 2 spells to play around it.

ESGN's Fight Night - Season 5 Episode 8 Decklists
Episode 8 of Season 5 of Fight Night aired today which had Team DogeHouse's Nyhx and ManaGrind's Forsen battle it out. The day started off with Nyhx playing DogeHouse Warrior and Forsen equipping the Kolento Miracle [Rogue] deck. We won't be spoiling any details from the matches, but if you'd like to watch them, or check out the decklists for yourself, we've got the VoDs and decks available.
lawlz at this mage deck. Either he is a very lucky person. Or everyone at higher ladder is stupid. Anyone with half a brain will get around Counter spell easily. This game requires that you be lucky to win in. Every card in this deck can be easily handled without it being a "threat". Unless, like I said, he just gets incredibly lucky with the opponent drawing bad.
"Purchases go through the apple store, and are the same price as they are on PC."
According to the screenshots, they looked quite a bit more expensive.
ok, now, when we can can play on android tablet?
The last thing I've heard regarding Android is Q3.
Is it me or are Artosis & Kripp in love. Theyz making eyez
I made a super small video showing it in action. It's not great quality or anything but it does the job. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fGyuNsFdkpk
It auto mutes the music when you are playing music from another app on the iPad. It's really well done.
Yeah I have to say after having around 24 hours with it, it is as good as the PC version maybe better? I am not seeing any of the graphical issues as it's big brother. I have had one issue where it would not load but i think I just had to much stuff running in the background.
