Yong Woo: Easier to get Wild Cards, Deckslots, Promotional Heroes Coming Back
Yong Woo hosted a Korean Hearthstone Q&A on Twitch and InvenGlobal translated the stream. Below is a recap of things of interest from their translation.
Quote from Yong Woo
- The majority of players do not use 18 deck slots. Yong would rather see importing and exporting of lists to solve the deckslot issue.
- One designer is focusing on figuring out a way to allow players to more easily get wild cards they're missing.
- Some promotional heroes and card backs should be coming back during the Year of the Mammoth.
- There are no current plans to give end of month rewards for both formats; they don't want to force players to play both modes.
- The bug where Hearthstone cuts off music you are playing is something they want to fix but requires an engine upgrade which takes a lot of time and effort and as such is not currently high on the priority list.
WHAT THE HELL IS THE POINT OF HAVING "promo card back/heroes" IF THEY ARE JUST GONNA RELEASE THEM AGAIN LATER !!!!!!!!!!!
TY blizz for devaluing, those who got the "PROMO" when it FIRST came out .......... Thanks for devaluing our collection !!!!!!
I admittedly don't use all 18 deck slots, but it's wonderful having the option. I usually sit around 12-14 decks and knowing I won't have to delete a deck to try something experimental out is wonderful :)
Well if they bring back old card backs and heros, well let's go all in then an bring back golden gelbin and etc...
pathetic
I'd be interested to see who has more accurate data on how many deck slots are used by players. The developers or the community.
This might seem an obvious question at first, but actually not really. Blizzard might posses all the data about everything what's going on in their game, but 'developers' are not necessarily provided with such, and it's clearly game designers who make the decisions, not developers.
Seeing how designers are clueless and blindfolded about pretty much everything they claim to know from their statistics, I believe that even if they do have such raw data, they can never analyze it. Ben Brode's declarations about ranking system were based on 100% accurate statistics, but never really made any sense.
1) "making it to rank 20 already puts you in top 50% of better players or so, but it does not feel this way". Don't they want to give a 'good player' medal to everyone capable of logging into HS and winning ~10 games once a month? This only means half of 'players base' are not really players!
2) speculating on 'meta' and class/cards popularity on ranks 15~20 when considering balance changes. Some people there don't even have a single legendary!
So when designers are speaking of 'majority' of players, their data obviously includes those 15~20~25 rankish players that barely have cards, time, and (maybe) game/deckbuilding knowledge to utilize all 18 slots. You can't expect the 'majority' who only have time to log in once per season to claim card back, to build 9 different decks per format. That's just stupid.
I legit have used all 18 of mine xD
I use all the slots too. I think this happens a lot with Blizzard. Their fanbase try desperately to justify them. They do it all late and in a mediocre way (deckslots, pirates fix, everything you could think). Hearthstone for example, is a shadow of what it could be, It's the most ungrateful digital card game I know.
You can find the same "in loved" fanbase in Apple, Sony or Nintendo. In some point It doesn't really matter anymore if the company make the things the right or wrong way. Most of their fans will support them no matter what.
I think a mode like Heroic tavern brawl that changes the rules every week so there is a different constructed meta would be brilliant for giving out wild packs Although would it be fair if it were a mode in wild?
@Nicholasjh Please, no more heroic tavern brawl. It's pretty bad already that I get no cardpack that week, but getting without the wild cardpacks because I don't want to pay 10 bucks to win randomly, would be very frustrating.
why we have 9 classes and still not at least ONE alternate hero for each is mind boggling
it has to be the easiest way to RAKE in the cash and the rhetoric is "there should be new heroes in a calendar year"
that's pretty fuckin' hopeless sorry
Our game supports 1920*1080 resolution, yet we can't fit more than 9 elements on one screen or make it comfortable to navigate between screens. It's not like we were able much more with 320*240/640*480 in early 1990s.
Also, the majority of our designers don't use their brain, so 9 deck slots per format ought to be enough for anybody ©. It's not like we can provide everyone with a few hundreds slots and make it easy to sort/find/preview decks.
...on an unrelated note, the other designer was focused on withdrawing wild packs and adventures from the game shop.
Im uncomfortable with how close the first dot is to your upvotes. *downvotes* Kappa
It's not just on PC you know...
I would like to see folder type of deck slots.
+Aggro
+Anti-aggro
+ZZZ
+each hero 1 deck, to check my current win rate / progression to golden Hero.
TL;DR At the end of the year you can buy Kadghar again in Australia on Samsung phones between 4 am and 6 am on one tuesday for 3 times the regular price … maybe. But most likely not.
Thanks, Blizzard!
I use 18 deck slots as well for those class cards quests.....
I just delete them because a new expansion is gonna release soon
