Blizzard make tepid changes to placate Community outrage over increased Quest requirements, as well as bug fixes and Battlegrounds Armor changes.
Quote from BlizzardPatch 29.2.1 is a server-side hotfix rolling out now with the following game updates and bug fixes.
Weekly Quest Update
The Weekly Quest requirements are now as follows:
- Use your Hero Power 30 times (instead of 40)
- Play Battlecry cards 75 times (instead of 100)
- Play Miniaturize or Mini cards 32 times (instead of 60)
- Win games in Tavern Brawl, Arena, or Battlegrounds 10 times (instead of 15)
- Win ranked Hearthstone games 10 times (instead of 15)
- Damage enemy heroes 400 damage (not changed this patch)
- Spend 750 mana (not changed this patch)
XP granted by the Weekly Quests is not changing from the new higher amount.
Dev Comment: To get these changes out as fast as we could, we’ve put them into this server-only hotfix. That means there will be some weirdness where the numbers look unchanged in the client, but function as described above (so your ranked wins Quest, for instance, will read 9/15, but get completed after your next win, at 10/15). We are putting together an additional client-side hotfix patch to clean up this issue soon.
See our recent blog post for more on why Weekly Quests were changed with Patch 29.2 and why they’re being adjusted again with this patch.

- Arch-Villain Rafaam, Fungalmancer Flurgl, and N’Zoth now have 15 Armor.

The following heroes now have less Armor:

To me the Weekly Quest become a "2 Week Quest" cause I just don't have time (or motivation) to play enough to complete the Quests. I often play like 3 or 4hs for week at most. So I guess that I would reach level 100 at the last minute of the Set.
At the very least Quest don't reset each week, so at least I don't lose all the progress. But I guess that the new meta is going to be reroll the "Win 10 Games" wherever you can, cause that's the trully difficult to do, the other ones in a couple BG games you can kinda complete.
And I'm not a bad player (not great, but not bad) but I tend to play very dumb decks, with silly ideas or overcomvoluted synergies, so on average I might win 1 out ot 3 games in wild, which means I must play like 30 games at least to complete the Quest, and I'm sure I don't play more than 15 games on a week. And I don't want betray myself and play meta decks or hyper aggro just to farm the quests, cause that's not fun to me, and if I'm not going to have fun with the game, I don't know why I would even bother in play it, while I have a lot of other games that I could be playing instead, and I often don't have time to do.
If they want to make the game more grindy, maybe add some form of wager quests instead (and keep the original quests simultaneously). Completely at the player's decision at any time they choose, they get given a timeframe and a harder than usual quest of your choosing from 3 random choices and reward outputs. And make it accessible with gold and money (so blizz can still monetise it, because it's always gonna happen). For example: wager 200 gold, 1 week to win 30 games in standard, get 250 gold, 250 dust, 1250xp and a gold standard pack. If you fail, you get nothing. And you can only do one every 7 days for the sake of game economy.
Keep the casual players happy. Make hardcore players happy AND add some extra dollars in blizzard's coffers while they don't need to do a thing to maintain it.
It's an interesting idea but they'd fall foul of anti-gambling laws around the world and get banned in multiple territories. I suspect that a "kids' game" that promotes gambling would lead to negative publicity.
I think people are overreacting about the quests a little too much. I think they're all fine minus 2 of them. The big problem for me is the "win x games" one. That's insane and horrible for the game. Bro, 15 wins??? if you had a 70% winrate, which not even pros have, it would take you at least 4-5 hours of grinding for that one alone. I actually completed the "play 60 minis" one in 2 games lol. Those are fun: the ones that get you to build a really stupid and specific deck to speedrun the achievement. "win x games" is disgusting and actively encourages players to play the current overused/overpowered deck. I still don't understand why people actually enjoy playing netdecks. I haven't taken this game seriously ever and the only reason imo to want to try-hard is to get the epic card at diamond 5. They should just give that to players for free though ffs. Legends of runeterra literally gives players a free legendary (the equivalent of like 2-3 epics in HS) and the equivalent of 5 packs EVERY WEEK if they play for like 2 hours...
i left this game back in circa 2020 up to 9/23... and im leaving it again now
If you feel that you NEED toplay game, not that you CAN play it, it is not fun anymore...
Yes, that is called "force to play" and "i should play"...it's the worst thing.
is starting to fill like a job instead of a game
In the beginning was even harder. Like Win 5 GAMES. Was a real quest.
I'm completely locked out of arena.
Dailies felt like they made me play the game a healthy amount. Spending an hour or so a day completing them felt like I was getting a decent dose of fun and not grinding the game and getting frustrated at certain balance problems.
Now I just can't be fucked honestly. Way to kill your playerbase who just wants to hop on for a small time period for a few games in a busy life.
It's not fun anymore. I feel stressed because I'm not sure I can finish my weekly at the end of the week.
Hearthstone was one of this game you could play casually (even not every day) and still get reward and not feel behind if you manage to do all your quest.
But now doubt installed, and stress came. It's a really bad move from them. Recuding xp reward instead of doubling the requirements could even have been better for casual player.
I really consider leaving this game if it feel too oppressing to finish my weekly in time...
But maybe they don't care because I don't buy anything anymore. I only play constructed and I disenchant all wild cards every new year. I don't need to buy packs with real money. Maybe they want to get ride of player like me ?
I am same as you. I have been playing this game for five years and regularly disenchant wild cards when I don't have enough dust for something I want to try. The only money I spend on the game is when new sets come out and I buy the Tavern Pass. However, the game feels like an annoying chore now and I am pretty sure I am going to quit. I can't force myself to log in and duel against the same aggro decks anyway. It was bad enough before."
Same here. I've been a casual player since the beta (I play 0-3 games a day in constructed and about the same amount in BG, I've only reached legend about 5 times or so). I've never bought anything in HS with real money and now I'm sitting on almost 200k of dust and 10k of gold (I had more, but I recently bought a few skins).
As a parent with a full-time job, I often struggled to complete the weeklies in their old form. Not a chance I can do them now, and it really kills my interest in continuing to play, knowing that I'll be taking a major hit in rate of card acquisition.
Blizzard is outright saying that this game is no longer for me, and I'm inclined to agree.
I have played this game for 10 years, almost everyday but just for quests and to get new packs etc.
Blizzard style push me finally to uninstall game.
Good 4 years, 6 meh but it`s over.
BYE HEARTHPWN and HEARTHSTONE
HELLO Ben Brode - we meet again :)
Last patch in Marvel Snap give many players like me hell of a ride with bugs/
Today I am loggin in and I see apology from devs AND 500 gold.
Soooooo..............................
I have more space on my phone, because BLIZZARD YOU WERE RIGHT - I HAVE PHONE ! And after delete your games its even better!!
THIS IS FREEEEEEEEEEEEEDOM!
DE-ACTIVISION BLIZZARD COMPLETE
I can barley be bothered to win 5 games never mind 10 when the meta is this shit.
I wouldn't mind such quests if you'd get partial rewards. MTG Arena does that. You can win there up to 15 standard games per week, and each of those games that you win you get some stuff. That motivates you to play, and you get rewarded no matter if you play 3 or 10 or 15 games.
Has anyone experienced a bug (on mobile IOS) where a duplicate, but unusable, copy of “Mirage” from Spirit of the Badlands gets put into your hand? The duplicate unusable copy creates a shift in the card placement and really mucks with your ability to play the correct card.
I’ve accidentally misplayed the wrong card a few times and it’s pretty annoying.
This started happening after the last patch.
