An update on how things are going in the fight against bots, after their post a few weeks back.
Quote from BlizzardThis month has been a busy month in our battle against the bots. Since our last update just three weeks ago, we’ve ratcheted up our bot detection and banned over 585,000 more bots–including over half a million bots throughout this week! We hope they’re shaking in their circuits.
Cheaters are not welcome in our Tavern. You can continue to help in the ongoing battle against these botters by using the in-game reporting feature. While you do, we’ll continue fighting on your behalf, too.
Hearthstone Developer on the Ban Waves
Earlier this week, on Tuesday, we launched the largest (at the time) banwave in Hearthstone's history.

congrats and since the history of HS there will be EVEN more bots to farm gold and sell for 4 USD for 5k gold accounts congrats you played yourself
Once again, big numbers, intended to impress, that mean nothing without context. How many players are there? Are there bots detected that cannot be banned yet? What's the average ratio of players to bots? How long does it usually take for the bot numbers to go back up to those levels? Until I know this I can't help but feel insulted by these announcements.
Thank you so much. Thank you for telling me how maintaining a reasonable game environment, expected to be part of a service I'm invited to pay for, is now a valiant effort on your part that deserves special mention.
See bot accounts frequently in Arena (I think they bot standard then manually run high end arena decks with the gold they farmed). Their names are just random characters strung together and the cardback is either the default, the Machine Dreams, or the Mark of Hakkar (all the easiest ones to obtain).
Someone probably perfected either a new bot AI, or a simple to run deck that's actually decent
Does anyone have a speculative reason bots are running so rampant in Wild right now compared to the entire history of the game so far? I've never seen this many bots before
A large part, I’ve heard, is because Chinese players are playing on NA after China servers were shut down. Botting, hacking, and/or using cheats are widely accepted among Chinese gamers, again just from what I’ve heard. And I also believe Wild was the more popular format among Chinese players too!
There are multiple Wild decks which are simple enough to pilot and have a strong enough core that botting is viable even at the top MMR brackets. While this isn't the only cause, the presence of these "So easy to play a bot can do it" decks makes bots go brr.
