This card generates great value. 1 card, 8 mana for 3 animal companions that is worth 9 mana and 3 cards, and each animal companion is better than an average 3 drop. If it wasn't for the randomness of animal companion, each companion is worth 3.5 mana especially huffer and misha. I would put 1 in control or midrange hunter.
The key is to neutralize Kel Thuzad's hero power. Kel Thuzad's main advanatage is also his achilles heel. He wins by ressurecting strong minions, your job is to increase the probability of his hero power to ressurect weak minions as much as possible. Weak minions includes, haunted creepers, spiders spawn from haunted creepers, mad scientists, pit snake, Sir Zeliek and nerubians. To do this is to try your best not to kill strong minions at the beginning, prioritize killing weak minions. You mulligan should include a Hakkari Blood Gobel that transforms an enemy into a pit snake. If your enemy is smart he'll avoid playing 2 drops and will try to summon Heigan, Gorthik or Grand Widow Faerlina as his first minion. Use Hakkari to transform it into a pit snake, kill the pit snake. Board clears suck as flamestrike, slithering archer, and loather's left greaves does wonders in killing weak minions. Do this enough time, your opponent will have a laughably weak hero power. I once faced an opponent in which 9 times out of 10, his hero power is summon mad scientist.
Do what I said until you get staff of origination, then you wreck havok. One thing to note is that when you killed a mad scientist, test to see if he has a counter spell before you play staff of origination. Your low cost legendary drops should demolish your opponent, especially with his weakened hero power.
