As I said in the other thread... If they're seriously targeting late April/early May, I'm disappointed.

Why such an early announcement? To have players wait for 4 months in a boring limbo...? Seems like a terrible strategy.

No its a great strategy look from the money side:

The people who wants this expansion they will still buy it in 2 months
, but people who dont have the money for packs now will try to save it and spend it into the game.
They can make again every week a little bit releases and votes for new cards etc. like the last time.

I dont say i like what they do but its not terrible its clever.
But this is going to create extreme frustration within the community... It already feels like ages since the first announcement, and now we get to wait another two months?
I also recall an interview with Blizz devs... I remember them saying that they've learned from their past mistakes and wouldn't want to announce stuff too early and destroy the hype with a sense of annoyance...
I don't know, their recent releases have been much quicker than this, it just seems odd.
While I am somewhat in agreement, I think getting standard mode and maybe the 'free' subset of cards next week will be enough to keep us going until late April.

No, a small amount of cards will be given for free including one of the four gods, C'Thun.

it says ". To seduce everyone, Blizzard decided to give players all new cards and C'Thun" so it is not a pack expansion?

I think it means 'all-new' rather than 'all the new' cards. So we'll get a few cards for free as a gift, maybe 5-10?

Huh. Few things that pop into my head.

    Only 134 cards?

Not releasing till late next month?

Also, leaks and teases and stuff is cool, but big info like this getting spoiled ruins the hype, especially the day before this stuff is announced.

134 cards will be make it the biggest set so far. Release date is upsetting but one of the community translations on reddit said everyone will get a 'gift' of C'thun and a few other cards early with standard launch.

    • 134 new cards
    • 4 old Gods, one of them is C'thun
    • Standard mode next week
    • Release date on late April/early May
    • C'thun 10 mana 6/6
    • 16 minions who buff God's attack and health

Update: A reddit user who speaks spanish has just confirmed the article definitely says standard mode a week from now: "It refers to a week from now, not a week after the expansion"

Update 2: To the best of our knowledge, the 'free cards' refers to a small subset of the expansion (eg 5-10 cards) which will be given to all players for free to encourage pack purchases.

Update 3: Article has been pulled. Images still available below.

Update 4: Added archive of google translated article.

Update 5: Archive of original article http://archive.is/rVfHG#selection-2133.0-2151.177

Update 6: A moderator on reddit just posted this message - "I just received word from Blizzard clarifying that the Standard and Wild formats ARE NOT going live with next week's patch. The formats will only be added along with the release of the expansion, which, as mentioned in the post, is late April/early May."

Blizzard headquarters in Irvine, California, was the setting for the press to know details of the new Hearthstone expansion. And Player One was there.

Called Whispers of the Old Gods, this new expansion brings new things to the popular game company. There will be 134 new cards and sixteen of them interact with the Gods. But what Gods? There will be four that will appear in Whispers of the Old Gods, with C'Thun to the head. The whispers of the Gods also contaminated to various minions, which now have different characteristics to those of before.

While Hearthstone will next week introduce a patch Standard mode (designed for new players), Whispers of the Old Gods come to light in late April or early May. To seduce everyone, Blizzard decided to give players all new cards and C'Thun. Player One had the opportunity to test the new expansion, which happens to The Grand Tournament, the previous one.

The biggest change is that these Gods will force attack and defense can be increased with the course of the game. Initially they come with 6 attack and 6 defense, but those sixteen minions are added accompanying him power of attack and defense, beyond what they themselves can do.

This means that, when playing the card of C'Thun -Cuesta ten do so mana, the power of God to do a different damage from batch to batch. And the damage it does when you play it. Hence the importance of putting together well mallets to accompany God and also be prepared with many cards on the table when being attacked with C'Thun.

In this regard, Player One spoke with Hamilton Chu, Executive Producer of Hearthstone . " This new expansion has a great feel , where these ancient evil from the bowels of the Earth, which can come and surprise are have many followers and henchmen that will make the I work for them. " He added that " we work in this expansion for a long time and we are very happy to finally show it to people . We love this game , everyone here play Hearthstone and we like to play in our spare time and we are very pleased to bring this new expansion to the world ".

Meanwhile, Dean -Designer Balance Ayala told Harthstone- Player One: "I am very happy to explore this new side of the game because Whispers of the Old Gods has perhaps scarier side, which we did not have before. so have that evil side brought Warcraft with the Old Gods makes that we can count on that side of the story. people will be able to see what crazy things do Gods Old and think they'll love it, new forms game, new decks and I think it will be successful. "

Finally, we spoke to the Senior Interface Designer Hearthstone, Derek Sakamoto, who told us that "for me the important thing is to see how new features behave, recipes for mallets, the new cards and rotation. All that is what I've been working the last few months, so I want to see how players interact with it to see if we did our job. that works for both new players and those who are already playing. "

Hearthstone has high expectations for Whispers of the Old Gods and lack increasingly less so that everyone can know the underworld of the Gods.

yeah I just read the blogpost (wasnt up at the time of my previous post).  This feature seems completely and utterly useless.  Who in the community wanted the equivalent of 27 more basic decks added to the game that you'll literally never ever use?

Beginners I guess. Hopefully community recipes becomes a thing in the future, because this feature is useless for advanced players at the moment.

My guess is this is the work around to having a cap of 16 deck slots.  Players will be able to share "Recipes" (deck lists) in client with their friends and there will be a tab for them in the collection manager.  By selecting a Recipe in your collection manager you will be able to quickly have the client build it for you if you have an empty deck slot.

    OR:

An elaborate form of screen shots :(

Doesn't seem to support community built recipes or recipe sharing. Blizzard created recipes only (at least for the time being).

Message from blog post. Disappointed. Blizzard created recipes only, no community built recipes or recipe sharing.

Deck Recipes are a new feature coming to Hearthstone to help budding deck-builders get a head-start on quickly crafting a solid deck to play in the Tavern. They’re great for both new players who haven’t built many decks, and experienced players who don’t want to create a deck entirely from scratch. To access the Deck Recipes, simply go to your Collection Manager via the “My Collection” button, select the “New Deck” option under “My Decks,” and pick your class; then you’ll see the Deck Recipes on the left-hand side. Three are available for each class, including oneclassic recipe, and two themed recipes. If you want to quickly jump into a game and need a deck, classic recipes are the way to go. If you’re more experienced and want to try something different, themed recipes may provide some inspiration.

Each classic recipe consists of only Basic and Classic cards, and provides a good foundation for you to get started on building most traditional decks. Newer players will find that the classic recipe is a great tool to get familiar with the deck-building process, but they can also serve as a handy shortcut for veteran players looking to get a new deck started.

Themed recipes revolve around certain card types or mechanics, and generally promote synergy between the cards included in the recipe. These slightly more advanced decks each promote a specific playstyle, and are better suited for more experienced players looking to try something new.

I do agree, Death's Bite doesn't have much synergy with this Taunt Warrior, the only true loss as you said, would be Sludge Belcher. However, I think it can be replaced in some ways by Sen'jin Shieldmasta.

Yep, plus more than likely there will be some decent mid-cost taunt minion from the old gods expansion.

I'm not the creator of this deck, I was just replying based on my own experience with the deck. I think he's pretty crucial yes, you could try swapping with grommash but varian is a massive tempo swing, usually bring at least 1 (more often than not 2-3) taunt minions onto the board.
