just opened this guy... i like him in theory... a Ghost dog with a nice music theme! so sad that its almost unplayable... half of the spells are shit, in fact the 'Army of the Dead' is more often than not a Cursed card in any spell oriented deck.
The stats doesn't help... Or that it has to die to give ur random spell... Imagine if u got to pick a spell on play instead... Now that would be playable... Will still keep it, but doubt I will play it.
"It's only bad if you refuse to play an interactive deck"? What is that suppose to mean? Every non-minionbased deck in uninteractive? Sure, sir, Patches the Pirate and Prince Keleseth is sooo interactive and fun to play against. Arfus must be a great card in such decks :) Hell, everyone plays it! I'm so tired of losing games on turn 4 to this pesky dog...
My first kft pack was a golden arfus, and he's a great include in my quest razakus priest. But yeah, that's probably his only niche.
Imagine, if the outcome wasn't random. Either having the possibility to choose one of the 9 cards or to have a discover mechanic.
That way the understated minion with the weak stats will actually become a reasonable inclusion, as you will plan your future turns more efficiently.
[edit] because right now the idea of why this legendary has so weak stats "to get that death knight card sooner than turn 8" has miserably failed
whoops, missed your comment
but as it seems, we both agree, that only this change would make it playable. blizz should back off with their rng theory bullcrap for a moment
So...then maybe Arfus is intended to reward a more minion-heavy deck?
Play minions that are good even if they are summoned and not played, such as The Lich King, Hadronox, Despicable Dreadlord, Tar Lord, Tyrantus, Obsidian Statue, Y'Shaarj, Rage Unbound...there's actually quite a lot of really powerful cards without Battlecry effects in standard right now. Army of the Dead isn't a bad card, it's only bad if you refuse to play an interactive deck.
