I have not been playing HS very long, I don't have alot of cards. Basically 435/723 Classic, LoE and Kara. I have got about $60 in giftcards for Christmas and plan to spend them on card pack. I was thinking to just buy the largest pile of MSG packs I can, mass DE and hope for enough dusk to make a classic legendary or 2. Is this the best way to go or should I get less packs and split between buying classics and MSG?
TBH the best cards are in the classic set - think cards like the majority of class specific cards instead of all the shiny legendarys you see on youtube or twitch. Cards like Wild Pyromancer are great in terms of the neutral options and there are a lot of others that the list is almost too exhaustive to list here. The classic class cards are what you build your deck around so if you favour a particular class then focus on getting those first. Druid is quite a good option here if you are just starting out and the hero power gives you a good grounding for when to use it. Classes like Rogue require a bit of experience but don't get daunted by what you encounter - we've all had the days when we are missing vital cards and get dicked on by whichever deck is currently top of the face decks. Shaman is a good choice to invest in atm.
If you play enough your collection will soon build up with the free pack each week from the tavern brawls along with the new and better quests than we had 12 months ago. You can selectively craft cards you actually need instead of having to acquire the bollocks that we all had to get in the early days.
Just remember that legendarys are not the be all and end all of cards, they do help but it is one card in deck of 29 others. There is a thread knocking around somewhere about which are the best in terms of value so use that as your best option for crafting choices. Sylvanas Windrunner would be my opening suggestion in terms of a legendary that just works well in almost all decks.
Don't get overwhelmed, we've all started somewhere and as my old rugby coach used to say "you can only play on the pitch they put you on". Having said that, he neglected to tell me that I was highly likely to get my nose broken by an angry fisherman on the Kentish coastline but that's another story.
In your position, I'd try and do a 60/40 split with the newer cards and then the classics. It should give you more options long term.

It doesn't work well in almost any deck, let alone "all decks". The only deck that can use her and even from that some people started to kick her out is Renolock at the moment. She was used in very very small number of other decks like Control Warrior and N'Zoth Paladin but those are out of the picture at the moment.
It's one of the worst crafts someone can make at the moment, unless it's a missing card fro Renolock...
OK sausage, and your fabulous suggestion would be what exactly?
If you are going to criticise, and you are free to do so, what would you suggest for a newer player? Perhaps Bolf Ramshield? Or did you just have one glass of Baileys too many and feel like venting?

Learn to behave if you want to speak with me.
Great suggestion, that'll help. Also, I'd rather not speak to you but here we are - and only one of us looks like a dick
OP, if I were you I'd open msog ans classic packs. Start with msog. When you hit legendary start with the classic ones and vice versa. If you want you can write somewhere how many packs you opened before getting legendary card. That way you'll be aware of your pity timer for the different type of packs. When your msog collection become solid enough go old gods. Personally i go ingame and filter cards by expansion, then check classes i wanna play with and make assessment if i really need to buy packs or i can afford crafting (if there's fewer cards i really want).

Don't worry, guys. You both look like dicks.
One or both of you should have suggested Ragnaros, Firelord. Instead you decided to flame each other.
For packs, Classic are really solid, but they will be available forever, and you will continue to get free ones from Tavern Brawls. Old gods are really good, probably better overall than MSG. Buy whatever looks fun.
Just buy the value pack. You get a class legendary with 10 packs for only $5! With $60 you can get 120 packs and 12 legendaries (that's a lot of dust and duplicate legendaries you can dust!)

As for the rest I agree!
Her is one of most useful legendary, in the actual meta she don't really shine but is a classic neutral good legendary, never will rotate, one bad time meta don't means her don't deserve a craft.
In my list of craft recomendations she is number 3, after Thalnos and Ragnaros.
One or both of you should have suggested Ragnaros, Firelord. Instead you decided to flame each other.
What do you mean? I didn't say one bad word to him at all. Guy just gave advice that I disagreed with, after which he directly started to insult me. Not a single flame from me.
You don't have to push this further and insult either of us, makes you look like the name that you called us.
Aside from that, I disagree with you as wel., Ragnaros doesn't exactly shine in the current meta and only a handful of decks use him at the moment and even those started to exclude him. Also OP didn't even ask for crafting advice at all nor we have any idea what he plays or what he plans to play so giving advice out of the blue for that is meaningless. He asked which packs he should open.
To OP: My advice would be to buy the biggest single bundle, not mixed Classic and MSG, as you'll get more packs if you buy a larger pile at once. MSG seems like the way to go as you said yourself since you already have a lot of Classic cards and from the dust you'll get you'll probably be able to make at least one legendary of choice. So I agree with your initial thoughts! GL with opening!
You were coming across as being pretty sanctimonious. It's an online forum, so expecting good etiquette from others is a bit of a tall order. If someone is obviously being intentionally inflammatory, you either try to bait them, or ignore them. Rapping them on the nose and trying to send them off like a naughty puppy is silly.
The OP mentioned that he wanted to DE a bunch of whatever he got to craft goodies, so I feel that the other element of the discussion is warranted as well.
I disagree about Rags being less relevant in general. He is only less relevant for aggressive decks because you don't expect to get much past turn 8, and he's a dead card any time before that. The only time that he consistently underperformed was when BGH was likely to off him the following turn and waste your investment.
I do agree about sticking with one particular kind of pack to get maximum value. If you are in the US, check whether Amazon is still doing that coin sale. I understand that was a pretty good deal.

60$ for 120 packs and 12 legs? did I miss this ? I joined around late September. I don't see this offer and don't remember it. I do remember the starter welcome pack... but what's up with this 120 packs + 12 legs!?? I've bought tons of packs and don't ever remember seeing this
Well I did end up buying $50 worth of MSG. Didn't do too bad got a KAZ which I'm excited about. Also got a goldern Inkmaster solia and a finja. Here is my first deck I put together. Any suggestions greatly appriciated! http://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/710577-kaz-reno-cthun-1-0
Is it really viable? I don't see this deck anywhere out of casual.
To OP: Did you track the pity counter? It's always worth to squeeze out every legend you can before crafting another one. After that, you probably should stick to classic packs, since they pack very high value in the long run. Some decks vanish from the meta completely, but with good core cards you can easily adjust after the rotation.

Yeah it is, i've seen quite a few times on the ladder and i've played it myself and it still works pretty well. Around rank 15-9 i've seen it, haven't gotten any higher that 9 so can't say if its at the higher ranks but it still works.

Its similar in power to goons pally. It struggles against aggro, but against control and jade it should win more than 50%.
if u got only 430 cards of 729 i would recommand classic and use youre gold to get some arena runs for the new packs. Getting the importen classic cards is beter in the long run because u dont get alot of classic packs from arena. so 1 pack of tavern brawl a week and some times for a quest watch and learn wil set u back a long time because most cards use are from classic.

if you have the classic cards you need go all into msog since you dont have it yet. but if you need more classic cards still split it half and half
Thanks all for your input and Merry Christmas. I will update after I open the decks tomorrow.

You can only buy the welcome bundle once for 5$ (1 classic class legendary + 10 packs that he mentioned)
If you haven't played for long you should buy classic packs but buy 1 Old Gods pack with gold for a free C'Thun and Beckoner of Evil. Then with any extra dust from duplicates Craft 2 Dark Arakkoa, 2 Klaxxi Amber-Weaver, 2 Disciple of C'Thun, 2 C'Thun's Chosen, 1 Doomcaller, 2 Skeram Cultist, Twin Emperor Vek'lor(Optional). Now you got viable deck for standard format for a while
