Hello everyone, I recently thought about building a competitive "Handmage", as some said.
Thing is, I dont buy my dust with $, so I have to earn every single piece of it, with that being said, I need decent/reliable information about the deck. I am crafting something for a invitational I am going to play this weekend and I thought I could just make the Handmage since I have every single other deck in the game(except for some minor legendaries such as geddon and antonidas).
Now, I read a lot about Handmage, guides by different players saying how the build the deck, why every card is there and how the matchups are played.
Thing is, I need to know about the consistency of the deck in high-level games(how good it is at being good), why it hasnt been brought to tournaments (there must be a reason), how easy it is to get legend with it nowadays (that says a lot about its consistency, for example: I am @rank 2 with 82% win/loss with my Hunter, hence I can say its consistent) and some other additional information about the deck that hasnt been posted on guides around the internet.
Thanks, in advance, for the responses!
PS: Sorry if I sound wrong for saying this, but I only need legendary players response(people who got legend with handmage), anything below that is irrelevant for my questions
It's unreliable is the real answer. Each dig spell is essentially a worse equivalent of a warlock's hero power. You are completely stripped of the option of going turn 4 giant unless your opponent hits acolyte of pain three times (no way). It's extremely awkward trying to balance your ice blocks with your molten giants. And if you don't happen to have your second it's very auto lose territory, thus leading to huge all in scenarios. Apparently, people are also trying to run duplicate moltens??? It's really just not... not good. There's a reason handlock doesn't run fat 6+ mana legendaries either (except jaxx). Handlock just doesn't need to. They're very slow. Really slow. Mages have more utility (I guess) via spells. However, handmage is much more prone to aggro than handlock is. Mages just do not have a reliable way of efficient aoe. The consistency is just not there.
The main reason people don't play handmage is because handlock is just plain better. The above post pretty much covers the glaring weaknesses of handmage and how it pales in comparison to handlock.
