I got Twig of the World Tree for my legendary weapon and was rather disappointed. I was hoping to get Val'anyr. Ah, such is life and the world of RNG.
Anyway, I wanted to make it work. I have a pretty healthy Druid collection so I thought I could make it work. I think this variant of Jade Druid might be viable and I know there is room for improvement, so I'm wondering if anyone has any thoughts. Particularly I'm wondering about the other big cards like The Lich King and Ysera, I wonder if there are better cards for those ones. The rest of the deck works really well, however.
No, I am not claiming to have come up with something new. This is basically Jade Druid with the giants included instead of Jade Behemoth, with a slight flavor of greed included with Medivh, the Guardian and Kun the Forgotten King.
Oh, and I suppose it should be answered, why Twig of the World Tree? Besides my desire to make it work I think this is the type of deck it works well in - you can make huge tempo plays with it and Medivh, the Guardian or even on its own. The three cards, Medivh, the Guardian, Kun the Forgotten King and Twig of the World Tree work really well together. And in Druid card draw is not such a big deal so I figure this is the right place to put something like this.
After playing the deck some more, it's enjoying success but can't help but feel it really lacks a good enough early game to deal with some of the overwhelming quick decks out there (those Call to Arms Paladin decks come to mind).
I'm not sure of the best answer yet, but I changed the deck up a good amount. I took out the Jade package and the Mountain Giants and put in Arcane Tyrants, Ixlid the Fungal Lord and Tar Creepers. There's almost an elemental theme going which is kind of cool (and I wish you could make use of it). The reason - the Jade package was a sort of early/extreme late game answer, and I find I rarely need to rely on the Jades to win (so far, I've only used it that way once out of many games), so I figured some cards with a better early game presence, and also Ixlid has the potential to combo with Twig really well. In fact Twig opens up a lot of combination possibilities that weren't possible before.
Anyway, I'd still love to hear some thoughts. I think this deck is now taking a different direction than originally planned but I like where it's going.
Edit:
WELP. After about 20 or so games and winning only perhaps 3 or 4 of them, I've come to the conclusion this deck is just not feasible. All the main decks out there go wide early and put too much pressure on the board. And, even if you are able to maintain some resemblance of board control, you eventually get flooded out. Druid lacks answers with AOE and hard removal - Naturalize is about all there is and it is a pretty bad card.
So, this is just a bad deck in this meta. Oh well, the decksperimenting was fun while it lasted. :-)
