Hi
This is a deck I created that uses Aluneth and low-mana Mage cards to hit your opponent's face directly before burning your own deck. I set the archetype as "Aggro Mage" but i'm not sure if it's more of a burn deck, because although it focuses on casting spells on your opponent's face, the kill is made usually during turns 7, 8 and 9.
You'll basically want to mulligan in search of Aluneth (it's very important to have it by turn 6, as it's the only drawing tool in the deck) and since then carefully plan every turn to get the best damage potential from all the cards in your hand.
The Game Stages:
Mulligan:
Your main priority during the mulligan stage should be getting Aluneth. It's very important to play it on turn 6, because it's the only drawing tool of the deck. Don't worry about replacing good 1-drops such as Mana Wyrm or Babbling Book. They are good cards to have early on the game but getting to Aluneth ASAP is much more important.
Here's a list of the best cards to mulligan for:
1- Aluneth
2- Mana Wyrm
5- Mirror Image, Arcane Missiles and Primordial Glyph work well with Mana Wyrm, Sorcerer's Apprentice and Flamewaker.
Early Game
During turns 1-5, you'll just have to use what you can to kill off dangerous minions and get some damage done to your opponent's face. The goal of Mirror Image is to protect your minions, so don't just play it on an empty board unless you really need to defend your face. Mana Wyrm, Mirror Image, Flamewaker and Primordial Glyph are all good cards to play during these turns. Spells like Fireball or Forgotten Torch may be cast to the face if there are no dangerous minions, and Explosive Runes is also good.
On turn 6, playing Aluneth is very important. It's what enables the kill during the 3 following turns.
Mid Game
After playing Aluneth on turn 6, your hand will just get filled with cards. Use them to maximize the damage. Drawing Roaring Torch or Fireball, as well as Frostbolt and Ice Lance can be very convenient.
Your main goal during this stage is to get as much damage dealt as possible during turns 7 and 8 without compromising yourself too much, and line-up the kill for turn 9.
Late Game
If you haven't killed your opponent by the time your deck runs out, or Aluneth gets destroyed and your hand emptied, there is not much you can do. Although the first thing isn't likely to happen, because the power you get from drawing cards is incredible, and it isn't likely that you won't kill your opponent without them killing you either.
Things to keep in mind:
-Always keep at least one Frostbolt to combine with your Ice Lances. They are almost useless if you don't.
-Use Mirror Image only to protect your minions, or your hero if really necessary.
-Arcane Missiles is one of the few spells (together with Frostbolt) you shouldn't just throw at their face. It sinergizes well with Mana Wyrm and Flamewaker, and can make for an excellent small-drops removal.
Possible Replacements:
-Cult Sorcerer, +Bloodmage Thalnos if you feel you could use more drawing tools.
-Mad Scientist, +Kirin Tor Mage
-Counterspell, +Arcane Intellect
There is an alternate version of the deck, which focuses more on controlling the early game and keeps the goal of turns 6+ the same. Run it if you are encountering many an aggro deck:
-2xBabbling Book, +2xDoomsayer
-Arcane Missiles, -Mirror Image, +2xFrost Nova
-Counterspell, +Arcane Artificer
-Cult Sorcerer, +Arcane Intellect
I will update this section with suggestions from the comments section, as I can't try all different possibilities and don't have all the cards myself.

Hi. Great deck, i have reached rank 10 easily and still climbing. This deck is still valid after the Patches nerf.
Thanks!
How to beat aggro paladin ? I always lose if i face aggro paladin. Using this deck
Aggro decks are hard to deal with. Maybe with the more freeze version it can be done. I'll include it ASAP, it would run doomsayer, frost nova...
At rank 4 I'm facing basically control lock (cube and reno), big priest, an ocasional reno priest and rare paladins. When they don't draw reno we're really favored, but this is not the best approach to burn mage. I agree with the fellow that said about freeze stuff. While you freeze and stall, you draw your burn spells/aluneth and it's face face face. Ah, you obviously need arcane intellects or oracles (i prefer arcanes because they don't give your opponents free answers)
Tried few times, never got aluneth in my first half of the deck.. you are screwed in that case. Maybe add arcane intellect, atleast one copy?
Yes, it's a possibility.
I think the burn/freeze-variant of this deck works better. an extra iceblock and some freezes can really slow down aggro and give you an opening - but to make that work you need more draw.
I really want burn/tempo to work, but it seems like the tempo cards are holding back the burn cards. Very heavy aggro has been a staple of every meta since old gods. Priestone saw some reprieve, but just in degree.
we gotta hold back the aggro (paladins).
Actually the class I've been having the most trouble against are hunters, but in wild there is such a vast variety of decks that it's hard to run tech cards to counter them. The deck could be changed to defend itself better against aggro decks, but that would change it considerably and we would be talking about another deck already. Besides, no deck can be strong vs all decks (except maybe highlander priest /: ) so this one is just a bit weak against heavy aggro.
Guide's out!
Having mixed success with this deck. Overall losing record. If you don't draw Aluneth, you often run out of steam quickly and get overrun. There is nothing to really hold back the onslaught of aggro Paladin or Druid. Drawing Arcane Missiles late in the game is usually awful. Why run Cult Sorcerer over Bloodmage Thalnos? I feel like the extra draw could matter.
You could run thalnos, but I felt like the extra 2 attack and 1 health were very useful. I always mulligan for aluneth even though it's a 6mana card, because the early turns are not that important in terms of tempo. As for encountering aggressive decks... yeah, they are this deck's main counter.
I really want to put Archmage Antonidas in the deck for burst, what can I replace him with?
Hmm maybe the lackey or counterspell? Be sure to comment on your results with him.
Its more like a two turn kill so be sure to have a ice block. Pretty good!
I'm a bit overwhelmed by exams but I'll try to have the guide written by friday. Any comments or suggestions are appreciated!
Is Aluneth that usefull here ?
It's crucial in my opinion, it basically fills your hand for a few turns in a row, allowing you to spam everything face. I wouldn't craft it if only for this deck tho, it's better to wait until the meta settles down.
I sometimes can't tell if these questions are trolls or not. Sometimes it is obvious, like the person asking if Malygos is needed in Maly Shaman but there are just dumb people.
Good deck. I reach rank 25 to 7 in 1 day . Thanks
Aggro mage is fucking insane
I like 2x Mad Scientist and one Ice Block over the Kabal Lackey and Mirror images, a lot of time in the late game your opponent takes the board and you are forced to go with the burn plan, Ice Block allows you to draw the game out an extra turn and draw that last torch or fireball you need. Plus you always have Medivh's Valet active
