Pirate Rogue is here!
The new Knights of the Frozen Throne cards make the deck even more aggressive and competitive. Runeforge Haunter is the surprising powerhouse of the deck.
Disclaimer: This is an aggressive deck that is not as strong as pirate warrior. Nevertheless, it has solid synergies and can wreck your opponent if they don't know how to respond.
Mulligans:
Always Keep:
Swashburglar, Deadly Poison, Shadowblade, Bloodsail Raider
Sometimes Keep:
Keep SI:7 Agent if you have the coin
Keep Southsea Deckhand if you want to guarantee a turn 1 patches
Keep Runeforge Haunter if you have shadowblade/deadly poison AND a pirate.
Strategy: Go face. Make favorable trades if you must. Use charge minions with Cold Blood as a finisher.
Lift those pesky taunt minions with Sap. If taunt minions continue to be a problem, consider replacing a Sap with The Black Knight.
Other meta-dependent additions:
Backstab against aggro
Valeera the Hollow against control
Captain Greenskin is good when less people are carrying weapon destroyers in their decks.
Always awesome to get a Shadowblade and Runeforge Haunter on curve. Almost feels like Rogue got their own Bloodsail Cultist with a 5/3 body minus Pirate synergy, but a little higher potential.
Do you have any pointers on what are the best Mulligans and how to play this deck?
Added!
Thanks a lot, I have learned how to play it better now: because of two daily quests.
I had to adapt a little to go more face than I was used to. Skipping value trades in favour of doing face damage. I often end up casting Cold Blood on a minion to create lethal or just increase pressure. With so many weapons and buffs you can do a lot of damage from hand.
And this works great in a meta where lot's of people want to go to turn 9+ and typically this deck wins by turn 7.
Only needed to play control vs a aggro Token Druid, because you can't afford opponents to go wide on you. This deck hasn't have any answers.
Only need to learn to play around Defile and combo's including Defile. So typically you want to trade you 1 health minions and not leave minions on their side of the board that can set up the domino.
Apart from Defile I haven't seen too many hard counters to aggro.
PS: Only downside I feel is the RNG on Swashburglar vs a Warlock it drew me twice Bloodreaver Gul'dan which I couldn't play because I lost by turn 9. Feelsbadman.
This deck does decent. And it turns out to be good against control Warlock. And that's great.
Hi!
Thanks for the decklist, I've been trying it out in casual (I'm not good at aggro, so didn't feel like taking it to ladder right away). Just wondering, do you ever actually get to play Valeera the Hollow? Most games seem to be over before turn 9. I was thinking about maybe replacing her with something that can make a difference in those turns before turn 9. Maybe Doomerang?
Inititally included her for eviscerate + cold blood combos, but she turned out to be too slow. Doomerang seems to be a decent card, I'll keep my eye on it.
This deck is too slow.
Ive been winning some games on the surprise factor alone, but you're right, it needs fine tuning. I've been swapping in more aggressive cards like Hydra
Have you tried Phantom Freebooter?
Yes, it doesn't seem to be working. It's a dead card unless you have a very strong weapon in play. Naga Corsair is definitely a superior choice.
