Heroic Instructor Razuvious' Priest
Hi everyone and welcome to this week's Heroic Military Quarter's guides. I'm MrPLJ and today I have attempted to build F2P decks to beat those demonic bosses. Razuvious is the first boss of the quarter, let's see what he has prepared for us.
Background Check
First thing that strikes you when you see Razuvious is his hero power, for (1) mana he can deal 4 damage to any character, and that includes face! To make matters worst he has three Massive Runeblades which are 10/2 weapons that deal double damage when he hits the face!
To help you against this overpowered beast of an Instructor, you get a Mind Control Crystal which helps you take control of his two 0/7 Taunted Understudys. So they will basically help you take the first few hits, and hopefully drain his first Massive Runeblade.
The Strategy
- For muligan, try drawing into Acidic Swamp Ooze, Lightwell and/or Divine Spirit. These will help you get past the early game.
- Our first step is to take control of the two Understudys, so turn 1 you want to use your Mind Control Crystal.
- After that, you want to keep your ground as much as possible, healing those Understudys and/or possibly buffing them, because Razuvious' turn 2 is usually The Coin+Massive Runeblade and that will kill an Understudy.
- Turn 3 should be about removing Razuvious' Massive Runeblade and if that can't be done, try to keep that Understudy alive.
- During your mid-game, you just have to build the board gently, and more importantly play Taunts and buff them up as much as possible.
- Be careful, Razuvious has a Brawl in his deck which will punish you for having an overextended board!
- To be honest, its all about RNG against him, he is very strong and one good top deck from him in mid-game usually means Game Over for you. Just persist, try again and hope for some good RNG.
I hope this guide and deck will help you overcome that match. I personally have a 60% win rate against him with this deck, so it is very hard but not impossible.
If you need help with the rest of the Military Quarter, check out F2P Gothik the Harvester and F2P The Hour Horsemen. Good luck!
I guess I have the worst luck ever. I've played this deck about 25 times and haven't won yet.
Hi richwiss, I'm really sorry to hear this is not working out for you. Have you tried going for the mulligans I've described in the first step? My biggest fear when playing against him are his other 2 Massive Runeblades, and I try my best to always have a taunt for that possible top deck (and hopefully an Acidic Swamp Ooze in hand). Also, don't forget his Brawl around mid-game, as that will start becoming a severe punishment if you have 3+ minions. Hope that helps and good luck!
Beat him second try without even stealing his weapon, thanks for the deck!
Good Deck. beat him on 2nd try with mind-vision into his sword.
Thanks for deck :)
I followed the strategy, succeeded in maintaining board control until he won brawl, however, thought-steal stole 2 of his weapons..
Alright, took me two games to beat him. Game 1 was fairly drawn out with him only having 1 blade but ended up losing. Game 2 saw him having 2 blades in the first couple of turns, but my stolen Blade and an Ooze on the first blade won the game. If it wasn't for the Thoughtsteal+blade the game would have been lost.

0-5 so far. Best I did was 1 off lethal before he top decked his 3rd runesword. I find mind vision, thoughtsteal, and SW:D though, dead cards.
Best start I had was lightwell, shadow word pain, and mind vision. got the 2 understudies, played lightwell, killed his tauntlord with pain and got 3/5 taunt out, get my 2 oozes....and then he shits all over me with all 3 runeblades back to back. Would have won if that didn't happen.
Edit: Finally beat him on 8th try in 4 turns. Drew both divines and 1 inner fire. Lost one understudy, and took other one to 28/28 and killed him on turn 3 & 4. He drew runesword on turn 4 but couldnt attack cuz he was 27 hp lol.
Hi Alpr, I am sorry it went this badly for you. Unfortunately decks with limited costs and the heroic mode in general does depend on RNG. I tried to build a deck that was as stable as possible with those limitations in mind, but I'm glad to hear it worked out for you in the end.
Well I just beat him in four turns with this deck(with minor changes but they weren't relevant in the kill). Just wanted to say good job on using the deck that is most likely the most fun to beat this boss with!
I'll leave a link to the video if anyone is interested!
