1.intro
Hey everyone! I'm Acidz, a multiple legend player from Belgium. I’ve been 6th in a major tournament, 2 top 100 finishes in the last months, selected for the Hearthstone Global Games and I grind my way to top 100 easily.
Today I’m just sharing the deck I got legend with. It’s not an entirely new deck, but it’s a variant that I think works the best and gets very good results on ladder. So far I got top 300 Legend with it, but haven’t had enough time to push it any further.

3.Mulligan Guide
Always Keep: [Mana Wyrm], [Arcanologist], [Sorcerer's Apprentice]
Keeps w/ the above/secret: [Kirin Tor Mage], [Kabal Lackey], [Frostbolt], [Babbling Book]
4.Strategy
The strategy with this deck is straightforward. You gain card advantage by playing arcanologist or one of the best draw cards in the game (arcane intellect). The next step is making alot of tempo with a free secret. After this point you can create allot of value by playing Medivh’s Valet and Kabal Crystal Runner. You finish the game with either burn or Yogg.
Another strategy is just dropping mana wyrm on turn 1 and going very aggressive. Most of the time it’s a combination of both strategies.
Tip 1: Try holding on to Counterspell and play it after your opponent has played the coin.
Tip 2: Don’t play mirror entity too soon (before turn 3) unless if it can give you Medivh’s valet activation or a good curve. Turn 1 lackey into Mirror entity is not that good.
Tip 3: Firelands portal can give you an random charger or taunt, so play to your outs if you have to.
Tip 4: Try to play as much other stuff before playing Cabalist’s Tome. (but don’t start randomly trowing all your burst at the face when your opponent has healing :p )
5.Stats and Matchups
Good matchups:
As you can see in my stats (I also got simmular stats from friends). The deck performs the best versus mage, warrior and druid. Mage and druid usually gain control of the board trough spells and AOE’s , but counterspell makes it pretty annoying. And you ussually get pretty good mirror entity’s vs warrior and druid.
Even matchups:
paladin and rogue: It really depends on the archetype they are playing. Cavern rogue is real annoying archetype to play against with this deck. Control paladin has just too much healing sometimes.
Bad matchups:
Shaman is a fantastic counter. It has healing, small tokens for Mirror Entity and enough board clears that you can’t stop them all.
Conclusion:
Most of the Matchups are the same as the old tempo mage. If you have a bad matchup just trow all your burn at the face and hope for a good Yogg. (Kappa) This strategy works vs rogue and some midrange paladins that don’t run much heal.
6. Twitch
If you’d like to see me play this deck live with commentary, I cordially invite you to check my stream where I’d be happy to answer any questions you might have about it. I will also play a variety of other decks, but I will always answer questions about secret mage. https://www.twitch.tv/acidzhs

This is the video where I hit Legend on. The stats aren't right on stream, cuz My decktracker confuses the secret mage with the Gunther Mage.
You're welcome.
Ah, yes, I was like that about two months ago when I used different decks. And the funny thing is that very list you provide is the list that brought me from 20 to 15 with only 1 loss during last season.
So I would suggest that you:
My lil' bro also suffers from the same experience, but unfortunately he decided to quit the game (he never really liked losing anyway). I hope that you don't feel the same, and trust me I almost quit too but on the next day I did what I suggested above, and here I am. Logging everyday not just to finish some quest, but also having fun experimenting with decks and learning new stuff everyday :)
Why you guys saying 80% !!!111 winrate, when playing only 25 games. It's nothing due to variance.
I've been playing mage all season, yet this deck has 30% win rate for me. I can't even make it to turn 10 to play my Yogg...
Edit: Ah EU again, top 300 legend is like rank 10 on NA
U kidding me? All pro players said NA is much easier. You probably never played on EU and sayin complitely bullshit man.
I play on both...this deck is shit on NA
Did I just stumble into a deck that is both awesome and finally makes my Yogg playable? Not to mention Pyros is also used here? Insta-vote-up man!
After testing out this deck, I'm got more hooked man! I had the time to play 5 games. The first one was vs Miracle Rogue, and I missed my timing with Mirror Entity and failed to expect an Auctioneer turn so I let him draw his deck till it's dry, and after that, myself.
Second match was versus Hand Priest (is that a thing now?) who uses lots of Mind Vision, Thoughtsteal, Radiant Elemental + Power Word: Shield + Shadow Visions into more Thoughtsteal and Mind Vision, and finally Lyra. He got full hand almost every turn, but in the end I kinda wrecked him with Red Mana Wyrm coming out from Firelands Portal.
Third match was Elemental Shaman. Trust me, your guide is 100% correct and this deck is awful vs Shamans. I also missed my timing with Mirror Entity--but he got his elemental chain until double Kalimos and I could do nothing but concede.
Fourth match was against Taunt Warrior. The match was really, really close. But in the end I didn't draw my last Fireball (only got Firelands Portal instead), which left the triumphant warrior with 1 HP left before he finished me up with Sulfuras. That being said, I should have gone face when he's close to finishing his quest. Lesson's learned.
Fifth match was the most fun vs Control Mage. We kept trading our board, even traded our Firelands Portal minion twice, until he was able to play Medivh into Primordial Glyph into Flamestrike on the next turn. I managed to hold for one turn, but I was overwhelmed with 3 giant minions. It was a luck that I had a Cabalist's Tome which gave me a Cabalist's Tome which gave me another Cabalist's Tome (that's 3 Cabalist's Tome, dude!), and also gave me Frost Nova, Blizzard, and Ice Block in the process.
Long story short after casting multiple spells, I finally drew Yogg and played him on the next turn (I should note that during all those 5 games, I managed to play Yogg 4 times). The miracle Yogg managed to clear my opponent's board (with removals) and filled my board with Living Mana and also gave me some armor. 2 Ice Blocks later, my opponent conceded.
Man, this deck is a blast! Even on a losing game, I had a lot of fun! Who would've thought there's a deck where I can run Pyros and Yogg together? I cannot thank you enough for posting this.
EDIT: not even sorry for the long post lol
This deck is totally sick and wrong. I'm going to use it heavily today.
Can I replace Bloodmage Thalnos to Pyros?
Pyros gets sheep/silenced/wacked every time I've played it, so yeah I put in an Ice Block instead.
Just played three games. Won the first, lost the next two to Quest Rogue. Tough matchup.
Love the deck, gonna give it a try! But isn Yogg too much RNG? Tips on putting him on the board?
I crafted Yogg during Un'Goro release (people might say that I'm stupid) but I just love the card and have been using it heavily during the first weeks.
If I may give out some tips, there ARE certain timings to use Yogg. Firstly, you don't need to wait until you cast all your spells in your deck to finally play Yogg; in fact you need to have some cards left in your deck (preferably 6 or more) or you risk losing life because of fatigue draw.
Secondly, you need to establish a board where you have a disadvantage, but you can still hold for one turn later (or more) before lethal. Reason no 1 is because you play Yogg in the hope to gain advantage through RNG; thus playing it when your board is at advantage is just silly. Reason no 2 is if you wait too long until you're at full disadvantage, it may already be too late and you'll get frustrated a lot because Yogg can't save your ass and turn the table every time (in fact sometimes he can kill you if you're very low).
That's just the general idea of me using Yogg, but TL;DR the rule of thumb is always play Yogg when you just have the room for him (some cards left in your deck, some HP left on you, some minions left on the board, etc.)
How can I replace Yogg ?
I swapped Pyros for Alexstrasza
Yogg has given me 400 euro's in the past +1
