Journey to Ungoro Guide
Total Deck Rating
I've played my fair share of freeze mage in un'goro and I have to say that Antonidas is just too clunky at the moment. Without Thaurissan's reduction and the lack of cheap spells (ice lance, mirror image) it will not get you any good value. You are better off with a second pyroblast.
Also, flamestrike is too costly/slow, I'd recommend to replace it, for example with a medivh's valet.
What about Medivh instead of Antonidas?
Medivh doesn't really follow the game plan of freeze mage and will most of the time leave you with a dead card in hand
I think i start all posts with - thats not true...
Antonidas sees play only because of Primordial Glyph which is in perfect synergy and is much stronger than was before. BUT if you play a lot against Paladins and Priest, you would want to play 2x Pyroblast, because you have a guaranteed burst.
what about Hemet, Jungle Hunter ?
I feel there are way too many good 3 or less drops in the deck that you wouldn't want to eliminate, unless you're playing Hemet when your deck is completely empty/you know all your 3 or less drops are drawn. Also getting yourself closer to fatigue in Freeze Mage is not preferable especially against control decks. I wouldn't recommend Hemet, but you can try
Is there a Mulligan and guide for this deck, first time freeze mage and winning less than 50% right now and not sure if it's down to poor mulligan choices or just mis plays. Any help appreciated
To be honest if it's your first time it's normal. Freeze mage was always one of the most difficult deck to pilot. Always keep Arcanologist, loot hoarder and acolyte of pain. Primordial glyph is also amazing to keep, it can help you against aggro if needed and if the opponent is playing control or midrange you can adapt (more burn? flamestrike?). Never keep your secrets, any of your late game burn, flame strike or blizzard in your opening hand.
Depending on the match up, volcanic potion and doomsayer are good to keep in hand as well (aggro). If you have doom sayer and frost nova, keep them as well, always nice.
Hardest match up: Warrior ... pirate or control.
Easiest: I would say midrange (like zoo, something without any heal is fine).
Nice one, thanks Dandyphonic. Really helped with my progression playing this deck. Think my Mulligan is now good but still need a lot more games under my belt, i prefer playing this sort of deck where i know my decisions determine if i win or lose. Rather than a mindless deck like pirate warrior.
I'm only used to playing tempo Mage, any (mulligan) tips for playing this deck?
Play tempo till rank 5, than you can try to switch to other versions of Mage.
Im missing one Primordial Glyph any thoughts how to replace?:D Don't really wanna craft it
Maybe second Volcanic Potion or Flamestrike?
Primordial Glyph is a core card , you can fish for face damage or removal with it . Unreplacable. Sometimes even 1 Flamestrike is too much Volcanic Potion does nothing against Controlish decks.Primordial Glyph will be in EVERY MAGE deck no matter what kind of mage deck it is since the card is broken. So its super safe to craft it .
Too OP to not run it. This card is so viable, you need it.
I didn't have the luck of opening Primordial Glyph at all. I'm running a Burgle Bully (1 of) in my Freezemage deck instead. Guaranteed extra fireballs (Archmage Antonidas)
because your not running exodia mage isn't that card too slow? Imo seems slow
Burgle Bully is no tempo play. But since Freeze Mage isn't a curve-deck it doesn't matter; you just play it after a Doomsayer went off, or when the board is empty enough.
I have found him to be quite a nice fit :)
