Hello everyone,

Policymaker here, a greek hearthstone streamer and prominent community member! Yesterday we had a very interesting livestreaming session, where we built a F2P/Basic warlock deck along with Refuse.Logan(multiple times legend, previous dreamhack invitee etc), and the deck came out so fun and surprisingly powerful that I felt the need to share with any1 interested. The deck is in no way refined(as much as you can refine a free deck ofc). This deck is suitable to new hearthstone players, but I feel that people with a previous CCG/TCG background will feel much more comfortable using, since its play is more control-ish. I will try to cover its basic use, key cards as well as the ones that should be replaced or tailored according to your needs!

General Strategy

I think most basic decks should be considered as "arena" decks. In order to compensate for the expensive class cards, you have to use solid neutral mobs like the Chillwind Yeti, and general minions, thus resulting in something more like arena play. In this deck however, I feel that warlock has way too many good spells, thus made the deck play a bit more controlish, without eradicating the great value neutral cards ofc. Therefore, this deck contains lots of spells. Not all of them, but a lot(10).

Key Cards

There are a couple of key cards that truly define the deck. The first one is the Kobold Geomancer. I feel this card, combined with the already neat spells, is really cool. Kobold+Mortal coil is 2 dmg+card,  Kobold + Soul fire gets rid of a yeti, Kobold+ Hellfire gets rid of a concealed Gadgetzan Auctioneer. It might not mean much to new players, but more experienced ones will acknowledge its importance. Plus, a kobold 2/2 body is still a body to apply early pressure to your opponent!

The Darkscale Healer has gained a lot of attention the past couple of metas. The importance of valued life gain(for you AND every single one of your minions), along with the solid 5 HP, makes this a little beast of its own. We liked the card so much we added full slots for this one. Its 4 HP means you have pretty much 2 free card draws, thanx to your hero power.

Last but not least, we consider the 4-mana Chillwind Yeti and Sen'jin Shieldmasta too important not to add, and we welcomed the Dread Infernal utility. Again, we feel that new hearthstone players with a good card background will appreciate its AoE.

Cards for Sidedecking

Many players might not feel comfortable with some cards, or there might be some need for adjustments considering the meta(eg. more aggro decks in ladder). I suggest the cards below for replacement:

I felt I had to choose between Ironfur Grizzly and Shattered Sun Cleric. Logan was in favor of Shat, I went for Grizzly, so we decided to split the slots. Against aggressive meta/ranks you obviously need a grizzly more than Cleric, but a cleric buffind a Voidwalker is always a plus.

I consider the Elven Archer a great utility card. For 1 mana you get a free fireblast(mage's hero power) and a small body. It might super-great, but there are just too many hearthstone times where you are like " damn I wish I had 1 more dmg"!

It is up to you as well to decide whether you need those 6+ mana cost minions. Someone might favor a Boulderfist Ogre more than the Stormwind Champion. Its generally up to you!

I will try to update guide when needed. Remember, even after naxx releases, F2P decks like these might not need changes, because they are targeted to new players who won't be having the new cards any time soon!

You can find a video of the deck where we try it against the ladder and Refuse.Logan as well! Video is in greek, but the game is universal :) . Enjoy!

ps: If you liked the deck and see its potential, consider voting it up !
