Hello everyone, this is Jotto and today I will be going over a deck list that my team mate [AcB] crispy got to legend this season with.
General
At first glance it seems like a normal mid-late ramp druid list, however this deck substitutes out Azure Drake for Stranglethorn Tiger. This allows the deck to be more proactive against control decks such as hand lock and miracle rogue as neither of these decks can interact with the tiger so it is guaranteed to attack for 5 or remove a key minion from the board.
On top of this the Stranglethorn Tiger can be used to set up a turn 9 win with the Force of Nature / Savage Roar combo for a massive 21 damage burst.
Minus the tiger, the deck has a few other interesting tech cards, starting with the Bloodmage Thalnos which is massively cost efficient when paired with Wrath and Swipe, and in a few other cases it can be used to cycle a card if necessary.
Onto the anti control cards, Big Game Hunter and The Black Knight, the first one is used to mostly kill giants on turn 4 when against Hand Lock and to kill stray Ragnaros the Firelord. The latter tech card is invaluable in the Druid mirror as killing a taunted 4/6 and adding a 4/5 to the board all or 6 mana will usually signal the end of the game.
Lastly in terms of different card choices is the anti aggro wall himself, Ancient of War, usually this guy will destroy aggro decks such as zoo single handedly as 10 hp of taunt is almost impossible to get through for those decks with the exception of shockadin's Equality.
Mulligans
We'll start with the most basic one, the druid mirror, in this match up you only keep Wild Growth, Innervate and Harvest Golem. If you have a ramp card in your hand you can also keep a Chillwind Yeti.
.Onto Rogues, in this match up you still keep the ramp and Harvest Golem but you also keep Chillwind Yeti if you are going second and [card]Wrath[/card].
Lastly for the popular match ups, Warlock, in this match up the same applies as with rogue, however you also keep Big Game Hunter and no matter what you always keep one Keeper of the Grove.
Conclusion
Over all I do think that this is a very strong ladder deck however its tournament applications remain to be seen as decks like Shaman and Hand Lock are a lot more common there while strong match ups like zoo are less common.
Thankyou for reading.
Jotto
You took a very common druid deck and swapped to azure drakes for 2 tigers?
I felt like I was getting stuck with my all out zoolock deck (peaked at 8 then went on a bad run to 15 and got stuck at 12). I'm now back at 9 and steadily winning matches (70% winrate so far). Thanks for the list and the mulligan advice!
been crushing zoo with this. turn 1 harvest golem or yeti is just so hard for them to recover from.
If I was to have Leeroy Jenkins, would you recommend me swapping the Argent Commander for him?
I wouldn't as I don't see the Argent Commander as a finisher card. He's best at removing key enemy minions while remaining on the board. Most druid decks use any Savage Roar combo to finish games as it's most reliable and can have 2 in the deck. Commander's shield means that he can stick around to help the combo next turn, but Leeroy Jenkins has no utility - he can only hit face.
its THECHIV you parakeet
Nice deck !
You mean wild growth and innervate right?
Good deck, only changes I made were 1 force/savage over 2, allows for most consistently, I found that with 2 combos you have dead cards in your hand more often than not, I only run 2 if I'm using a token deck personally.
I threw in a 2nd argent commander and Cenarius as replacements
I replaced the next cards because I don't have them:
1x Force of Nature to 1x Starfall for board clear.
2x Ancients of War to 1x Cenarius and 1x Ysera
1x Black Knight for 2nd Argent Commander for some removal and rush.
1x Bloodmage Thalnos to 1x Kobold Geomancer. Any comments?
I would replace Kobold with Azure Drake, since you get the same bonusses and a body. The carddraw is very important here (imo), since you can't rely on Ancients and Wraths giving you cards.
Great deck. Looks awesome. I myself have joined team druid and am attempting a late ramp up the ladder. I'm looking for the best most consistent version of a ramp deck and I think this takes the cake. With the addition of thalnos and the tigers it really gives it that extra something to send it over the top. You gain that extra damage boost your lacking in the mid game going into the end game. Sometimes when I dont get the ramp cards I feel like im stalling and sitting dead till I get something playable. This seems like just the ticket. My only question is I think the war ancients are great and all but is two really necessary. Maybe take one out and add in a bloodhoof or a faceless. If you can get out bloodhoof early like turn one or two. It sets amazing tempo. Also faceless him or one of your other big taunts could do some serious damage. Do you think they have a place in this deck? Also why no cerneaus?
I tend to find the Ancients of War are needed in this ladder with all the burst. They will most likely be able to handle one easily but the second one however is just a game stopper in so many ways.
I have not played many games yet, but not missing the card draw so far. Really enjoying the deck! Thanks.
I thought the same thing till I tried it and rose 3 ranks with it.
Jotto question for you! If you have innervate and harvest golem in your opening hand do you ever want to innervate out a golem? If so what scenarios and against what classes would you say? I always wonder if the early pressure is worth it if I do not have any cards to use the innervate on early such as yeti or druid of the claw
This deck is a lot of fun to play.
It sure is.
Great Video as well really enjoyed it!
I've gone from rank 13 to rank 6 with nearly unbroken win streaking. I've had maybe 2 or 3 losses, and a draw. It's ridiculous.
all while watching youtube too. I feel so bad.
thats awesome
