Come in and Warm your Frozen Boots by the Fire!

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Gunnolf, and I am originally from the Land Down Under a.k.a. Australia. I am an avid gamer that has acquired a real passion for card games, which originated from my humble beginnings as a Yu-Gi-Oh collector and eventually grew from my dabbling in Cardfight Vanguard and Buddyfight, until we reached the game we know as Hearthstone.

I've played Hearthstone since the days of classic, with multiple accounts on both EU and NA servers. Despite having reached the Rank of Legend and my own personal mentality of equating 'having fun' with 'winning', I am not really a fan of meta power-grinding & net-decking, not that there is anything wrong with that. Therefore, I enjoy thinking about new, cool and fun deck ideas that push boundaries while also allowing you to win and those are what I want to share with you guys every-time I post a decklist.

I have presently become a contributing writer to WILDHS and will be posting articles there on a semi-regular basis, regarding deck-archetypes the status of the meta as well as how to get the most fun out of this game even if you aren't a big spender. If any of this sounds interesting, then I highly recommend that you check out of the website, as the writers and the owner himself are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet with great in-game knowledge (link to be website can be found HERE). You can also follow me on Twitter for latest updates.

If you genuinely like my content and would like to see me produce more of it, then please consider supporting me on Patreon. This is by no means necessary but it will definitely help me out in the long run. Thanks for Reading ^^

Card Replacement Explanation

I thought I'd put together a budget Secret Pally deck for those of you out there that might have the dust to make Mysterious Challenger but are unable to craft other epics like Coghammer and legendaries like Tirion Fordring and Dr. Boom.

Dr. Boom is no doubt a really good card that fits into a lot of decks but he isn't what I would call great game material i.e. he's a great solo minion that doesn't really offer any combo potential and thus some of you might not want to craft him.
Similarly, Tirion Fordring is a fantastic card but maybe you don't like playing Paladin all that much and would rather craft another legendary.
Coghammer no doubt the optimal choice for this deck but still do you want to spend 400 dust on a card that will probably never see play outside of Secret Paladin?

Anyway enough prattling on. I replaced the Coghammer with a Rallying Blade. It has the same overall stat distribution (3/2 for 3 instead of a 2/3 for 3) and it has a nice little upside with your divine shield minions.

Tirion Fordring was replaced by Grimestreet Protector as they both have somewhat of a similar effect. You gain Taunt and double Divine Shield on the minions of your choice provided you have positioned correctly. Granted you lose the 5/3 Ashbringer weapon so your burst goes down considerably but it is still an excellent tech choice.

Instead of Dr. Boom I opted for Stormwind Champion. I was skeptical at first, but it really proved to be the MVP in quite alot of games just because of the ability I had to break though taunts with my smaller minions that gained the +1/+1 buff.

Never forget this is a budget version so it will not be as good as the full list containing the double legendaries and the epic Coghammer. However, it is still amazing as the core mechanics remain the same.

Mulligan Guide

No matter what deck you are up against, there are certain cards that are Must-Keeps. These come in the form of SecretkeeperShielded Minibot, Muster for Battle and Mysterious Challenger.

Potentially, if you are up against Warlock or Rogue you will want to consider keeping your Keeper of Uldaman or Aldor Peacekeeper in order to deal with a potential Mountain Giant or Edwin VanCleef.

You always, Always toss your secrets back into your deck in order to maximise the effectiveness of your Mysterious Challengers and your chance at drawing cards that will allow you to fight for and win the board in the early game.

Want to Commit to Secret Paladin?

Do you enjoy Secret Paladin enough to actually want to commit more dust to it and use it to climb the ladder ranks with it and eventually get to Legend? Well then, if that is the case then I strongly recommend that you try my Corpsetaker Tempo Secret Paladin. Not only is it an extremely competitive deck but it is also very fun and boasts a varied number of builds including but not limited to a potential OTK variant.

I genuinely hope the deck allows you to experience the same level of enjoyment I experience when I take to ladder with it! ^^

Afterthought

The deck is still super strong despite being a budget deck as I still use it even today to climb to rank 5 and beyond. Maybe one day I will actually be able to pilot the deck to legend but for now single digit ranks will have to do.

Lastly, always remember you are playing for Tempo! :)

Author's Notes

I enjoy deck-building a multitude of interesting decks that are both entertaining and Legend viable (with some odd Free-to-Play lists mixed in). So if you like this deck (or anyone of my other ones) consider leaving a thumbs up, as it really helps in the long run! :)

Thank you guys for all your support and if you have any suggestions, let me know.
