Paladin is a bit of a challenge for players on a budget. The only viable archetypes at the moment are very expensive dust and money-wise, and they aren't even tier one decks. In the last few expansions Paladin has been pushed into multiple directions: heavy control, dragon synergy, murloc synergy, divine shield synergy, minion buffs, token spam. What the class is still lacking are powerful early game options and Karazhan failed to address that.

That being said, there's still hope. The above deck is an archetype that's always been somewhat viable because it's an aggro deck that heavily punishes greedy control decks with big hands: Divine Favor allows you to empty your hand and reload quickly, exhausting your opponents removal spells and burying them in card advantage, which translates into a lot of face damage. Sadly, the deck isn't very reliable and doesn't fare well against several decks in this meta, but it's still a solid option for questing and laddering in the lower ranks.

When mulliganing, make sure that you will make efficient use of your mana for the first turns of the game. The deck runs 10 one-drops and you usually want to play a couple of those on your second turn. Trade sparingly and aim for the face when possible, as this is an aggro deck and you don't have that much reach in the lategame. Once you have established a board, pump your minions with buff spells, reload with Divine Favor and swing for lethal.

Card choices:

  • Arcane Anomaly: there aren't that many spells in the deck, but the potential of growing makes it an immediate removal target which is good for a one drop.

  • Runic Egg: as for the anomaly, there aren't that many good one drops in the available card pool and it might be replaced in a budgetless version of the deck. Still, the card draw is really nice and there are a lot of minion buffs to enable it, so it's more than worth it.

  • Divine Favor: the card that singlehandedly makes this deck a possibility. Topdeck this at the right time and it will surely bring you some sweet wins. You generally don't want to keep this in your opener.

Upgrading the deck:

The Whispers of the Old Gods expansion has several good cards for this archetype. Steward of Darkshire makes all the one drops you draw late a lot better and has great synergy with your hero power. Selfless Hero is another great one drop option. Rallying Blade is a solid weapon which occasionally buffs your team.

If you wish to invest into another adventure, LoE has Keeper of Uldaman which is an amazing card for paladin. It can buff your 1/1s, turn an Ancient of War into a measly 3/3 and it's overall a very versatile card.
