Mini Guide
This is just a small guide for anyone wondering how to play the deck + some card decisions.
This is a variation on the classic Tempo Warrior created by Sjow at the beginning of WoTG. This deck has been (slightly) tuned to a Karazhan style and includes The Curator and Fool's Bane.
Basics
The strategy for this deck is board control. Almost like zoo, where you need to constantly maintain board presence, this deck is similar. It has no comeback mechanics besides Varian, Ravaging Ghoul, and Fool's Bane.
Otherwise, the deck is quite simple to play as long as you keep in mind certain cards the opponent could counter with and what you need to keep to counter them.
Card Decisions
I decided to make this deck after seeing Fool's Bane in action. This card is insane in such a tempo/board oriented deck and works like a charm against aggro. DONT BE AFRAID TO TAKE SOME DAMAGE. I have found it is much better to clear the board and take damage than to hold back.
The Curator is also a new addition to this deck. It's a solid taunt, and still quite good when pulled from Varian. The obvious synergy is with Azure Drake and Fierce Monkey, with Sir Finley being a possible murloc.
Gameplay
The deck tracker I use recently introduced a new replay feature so I will embed it here and here for anyone who wants to see a few quick matches of this deck.
Hey infraredvenom, cool deck. I've been tweaking my own version of tempo warrior the last couple months. My deck is a little more aggressive. I often control the board and then start hitting face really hard in the midgame, relying on Grom or Varian to provide lethal damage from Kor'krons, Ragnaros, etc.
Compared to your list, mine is: -2 Amani Berserker, -1 Fools Bane, -1 Sylvannas. Instead I have +1 Kor'kron Elite, +1 Battle Rage and +2 Flame Jugglers. I briefly tried Berserker too, but the card didn't feel high impact enough. The Flame Jugglers have been working well for winning early board control against all the Shamans, Zoolocks and Token Druids. Before Curator came out, I was using Cairne instead of Sylvannas because of increased synergy with Taskmaster and Battle Rage. I like your inclusion of Fools Bane, I haven't tested it yet, but it seems pretty sweet. It's cool that other people have found success with Curator in Warrior too.
Thanks! Refining the deck seems like the hardest part and it is cool to see everyone trying out the different variations. I think the 2 drop slot seems to have the greatest area for change along with the inclusion of battle rage and Korkron. Fools Bane has been amazing and has great synergy with any of the whirlwind/1 damage effects.
Tried out a version like yours and worked well I just removed Cruel Taskmaster instead of Sylvanas Thanks!
Varian Wrynn can be replaced with most late game cards with tempo swing. Deathwing/Onyxia are possible but you just want something to swing the board in your favor.
Sylvanas works well in particular matchups (especially dragon warrior) and so does Malkorak. Its not the same as Varian but it works
What ranks did you play this at?
Im rank 7 right now but i plan on testing the deck more extensively over the weekend. I have played to legend with a similar deck and wanted to see if the concept was still viable.
Well I hope this get's enough votes for you to write a guide because I'm not sure crueltask and armorsmith can contest an early game shaman/Dragon warrior board. Especially with spirit claws/maelstrom portal. Usually once tempo warrior is behind on board it will lose
Dragon warrior isnt as popular right now but sylvanas and varian are good counters. Aggro shaman cant make it through the taunts and fools bane but midrange is close to 40/60.
Thanks for the continued feedback, I actually really want tempo warrior to comeback and hopefully your deck or with some refinement can improve the previous versions. It would be great if you updated the guide if you decide to make any changes
Glad you like the deck! Tempo warrior is my favorite deck of all time but sadly it's just a worse dragon warrior right now. Right now I've been piloting this deck with relative success against aggro, hunter being the most surprising. I almost hope for another zoo meta as this deck counters zoo to about a 90-95% winrate
