This is the Deck I used this season to ladder up from rank 5 to legend. I like Paladin a lot right now and think its a viable class in the current meta. Just give it a chance and maybe you will get surprised. I will give you guys a few tips on how to replace legendarys in this deck if you are on a budget. Should you guys like this deck I will add a more detailed description.
Replacements:
Tirion Fordring: This is the one legendary you should definetly invest in if you wanna play Paladin. Sorry.
Ragnaros the Firelord: Try out a Faceless Manipulator instead.
Cairne Bloodhoof/Sylvanas Windrunner: Just put in one/two Boulderfist Ogre.
Ok, since a lot of you seem to like this deck, I will give you a bit more informations about it. First of all I want to speak about a few cards in there and why they are in their or how to play them. After that a few words about what to mulligan in this deck.
Cards:
Elven Archer: Very strong against aggro, or at a later point in a combo with Equality. Sometimes that one damage more also just lets you trade better.
Argent Protector: I got quite a few questions about that one, which is very understandable. It is a weird one, because it is a minion for 2 mana that you almost never want to play on turn 2. An exception to that would be for example, if you coined your heropower on turn 1 against aggro and then turn it into an Argent Squire on turn 2. Most of the time though you want to play it in the mid/late game on one of your minions to kill an enemy minion almost for free.
Wild Pyromancer: Like Argent Protector, this card is almost never played on turn 2. You really want to combo it with a spell later. Ofcourse this spell is Equality most of the time.
Blood Knight: I switched that one in for Mind Control Tech. I realised that it is as good against zoo most of the time, but can also be used in a combo with Argent Protector for a lot of value sometimes. I feel like this is the slot in the deck I switch around the most though. You can also run a Big Game Hunter for example, if you think it is more viable in the current meta.
Spellbreaker: For quite some time i only had one of those guys in my deck, but it happened way too often that i did not have him when i needed him the most. Silence is very strong right now imo, sometimes it can even be valuable to silence your own minions that got effected by Equality.
Azure Drake: I run it for the cards, but sometimes a Consecration for 3 damage can be really good too.
Cairne Bloodhoof: Just a really solid minion for 6 mana. Maybe though you want to switch it out for the more situational The Black Knight if you feel it suits the current meta.
Sylvanas Windrunner: The best neutral legendary imo.
Ragnaros the Firelord: A second big finisher besides Tirion Fordring. He is strong, because even if he gets removed, he atleast does something the turn he is played. He is not as slow as Ysera for example if you do not draw your Tirion Fordring. He is also very strong against Trap-Hunters.
Mulligan:
First of all you basically always keep Equality and the cards that combo with it (Consecration, Wild Pyromancer) in your opening hand.
You also allways keep minions for 3 mana.
You keep Elven Archer if there is the possibility of facing aggro. Otherwise you do not keep it.
You also want to think about keeping your Truesilver Champion and your Sen'jin Shieldmasta most of the time.
Have Fun!!! And never play more than 2 minions against a hunter!!!
why are people making standard decks already?
NONE of these decks are going to stay the same because standard will drop the same time as WOG which means there will be a scramble to make new decks then.. assuming all the cards arnt released before then
any NAXX-era update to this deck ?
also, my win rate with thos deck vs miracle rogue is like 0% ... xD
I love Shockadin but this deck feels a lot more secure.
I tried using this deck with all the same cards but Im not getting anywhere with it, went from rank 11 - 13 :/. But i dont think its the decks fault; i think that Im just misplaying every turn. Was wondering if you have a video of you playing this deck ? so understand better how to play it. and for some odd reason I also think im just getting bad luck, i tend to draw all my late game cards with this deck earlier on in the game. a video would be nice to watch if possible ! plz and thank you overall good deck, im just unlucky !
Mind if I ask why 2 Sen'jin Shieldmasta's instead of 2 Defender of Argus's?
The only epics or legendaries I have are Blood Knight andRagnaros the Firelord. I still win more often than I lose. I'm only rank 17. I have a 60 hours per week job and married with kids, so I'm very casual.
I tradedLay on Hands for Hammer of Wrath, Tirion Fordring for a 2nd Guardian of Kings, and the 2 6 drop legends for 2xArgent Commander.
Tried this deck out and to be honest, was very skeptical. After using the deck, will say this deck is very difficult to use. Every move must be perfect and extremely strategical. Every game was very close, wins or losses. Will say there were more wins than losses, but hoping Blizz puts some more viable cards for pali. My personal opinion, pali is so strong in WoW, so Blzz decided to make other decks more powerful in hearthstone.
Thank you for the awesome guide.
I have a Blood Knight and I put it in my deck, should I craft a Big Game hunter and use that instead? I'm asking this because usually chances of using Blood Knight's battle cry are too low.
Just starting using this today. I tried an aggro pally two months ago...Got to rank 11...Tried a version of a miracle rogue last month...Got to rank 11. And this was with a ton of focus on ranking up..I'd win a couple, lose a couple..it was frustrating and the progress was VERY SLOW...
Started this month with a fun, but underpowered priest I made..Got to rank 16 but ultimately fell back to 20...Figured I wanted to try something out that was competitive, and boy this deck fit the bill.
Used this, just today and went from rank 20 to 13, with basically no problem at all in just a couple of hours..I have no idea how long my win streak was, but it was nice..Seems as long as I get by the first 4-5 turns without too much damage and my opponent having 1-2 minions, if that, I win..They never really get board control back after this point..The deck just starts to steamroll at this point...I also love that it stops cheapo deck aggro in its tracks...lol...
I don't have Tiron or Rag, so I used a faceless and a blessing of kings....Nice job!!!
I prefer Ysera over Rag. Rag is too random and dies really fast, with Ysera you can draw at least 2-3 nice dream cards! The dream cards can turn a game faster then rag, at least for me. I run rag and Ysera and do not use Silvanas because it is to situation based. Chances are low, gets silenced most of the time, may aswell use Mind Control Tech, have a better chance at taking that nice card away.
Blood Knight is op against those idiots who drop 2 of those 1 mana devine shield cards.I also feel that elvin archer is a wasted spot, use a low cost devine shield card.Traded one azure drake for swamp ooze because of all those warriors using cards to buff there weapons and rogues aswell.
I started ranking up with this deck and got to 11 so far, it's quite effective vs zoo which is nice! I've just started streaming too if anyone wants to see this deck in action! www.twitch.tv/antonchigur
great deck, using to climbing ladder.
but still have some problem with aggro to the face type deck, and need suggestion.
we must race them while early-mid then wait to use aoe in the right time or try to control them by killing it 1st piority
i think its important that just because hit girl does well with this deck doesn't mean you'll receive the same results. i had this same problem of copying decks from here and getting horrible results but after tweaking it a bit to fit my play style I started to win more games.
just my 2 cents
nice deck... tried it on ladder and went 7-3 inbetween ranks 14-11
I'm skeptical of this deck. Maybe it is good for legendary but it was not good from Rank 10-15 or level 60ish casual games. Most games I found myself skipping turns, casting hero power--having no play in general--while waiting for an equality combo. I would rather stick with neutral cards like Yeti instead of playing a SB on turn 4 or waiting to use it.
So far:
vs. Paladin - Loss
vs. Paladin - Loss
vs. Murlock - Loss
vs. Shaman - Loss
vs. Aggro Warrior - Loss
vs. Ramp/Giant Druid - Loss
Maybe I didn't give this enough credit...didn't do so hot in casual but I've won the last 5 ranked games I've done!!
this is a nice deck! +1
I feel like the owl is better for silence though, so I use those instead of spellbreaker. I also don't have a sylvanas so I am using sunwalker instead and I don't have lay on hands so using avenging wrath. It's working out quite good, I definitely see the potential in this.
Can I ask why you run spellbreaker over the owl? I figure that the main role is silencing and spellbreaker can usually just be killed easily anyways, or is the extra body worth it for 2 more mana?
I can only speak for myself, but I like it simply because it puts a 4/3 body on the board. Sure, it doesn't combo well with something until late-game, but a 4/3 is still something they need to take care of sooner rather than later. I guess I'd rather have the almost guaranteed trade or taking a big chunk out of a large minion. It really just comes down to what you prefer, but I've yet to say "Man, I wish I had an owl instead" while holding a Spellbreaker in my hand.
That's just my 2 cents.
I have played this deck minus Tirion Fordring and gone 0-7 so far. I have all cards except Tirion. I refuse to believe missing Tirion is the reason for losing.
I think just for the ammount of pressure he puts on the board.
