Incomplete Guide. Make sure I don't forget to finish by asking questions
Firebat Won NESL #21 with this deck.
Firebat Is Currently #1 NA with this deck.
AtaK has been #1 NA for a long time now, briefly losing his place to Kolento for a period of time. But almost immediately taking it back. This is also the deck I have played this season to get to top 10 legend NA, but am now #12 in NA.

About the deck:
The deck is very similar to Miracle Rogue in the sense that it takes advantage of the rogues cheap removal to get value out of the Gadgetzan Auctioneer, but is very different in the sense that the deck not only has board presence, which miracle rogues do not. But also does not solely rely on getting the Gadetzan Auctioneer and can actually without it win that match. Also the deck is reactive and you must interact with your opponent where as in Miracle Rogue you have much much less interaction with your opponent so the rhythm of your game is revolved more around your draws rather than what the opponent does. In this deck that is not the case, you must interact with your opponent and play around things more often.
What's with Malygos (Does it work?)
Malygos is a strong finisher with combos like Malygos + Sinister Strike (8 dmg) + Bladeflurry (6 dmg to all enemy characters). However the strongest part of this finisher is that your opponent has to play around leeroy as soon as they start getting low, so all through the game they will be putting up taunts and playing inefficiently because they are scared of getting leeroy comboed. So, the slow down of them doing that can allow for the game to be long enough for Malygos combos to happen.
General Play Style
The general play style is to control the board and react to your opponents. So for example Coin + SI:7 and just hitting face is unnecessary, in most cases. You want to hold your dagger, and your cards to setup plays where you can control and as you control you will be able to get in little poke damage and draw cards. Almost like a tempo deck.
Mulligan Choices
Try playing miracle rogue first to learn the deck better and you should have better luck. This deck is good im top 200 NA atm
Has this deck been modified at all since it was released back in April? An update log would be much appreciated. Curious to see if I can use it in ranked to fit the current meta.
Edit: Played this deck for a full day. Went from rank 16 to 12 with it in no time at all. Fell back down to 13 after facing a couple outlast paladins. I feel like the deck has potential to get higher given more knowledge of current meta. It's a deck that makes you think which I find fun. Although the way I play this deck I do feel pretty dependent on a auctioneer to pull out the win, which I think firebat might disagree with.
Closes thing to a control rogue I have ever played, very fun and more consistent than miracle rogue for sure.
is there any video of atak that we can watch to see how he plays? ( even if he is not explaining his moves)
Hello. Can you please explain me why do people prefer more Big Game Hunter than Assassinate in Rogue decks.
My question is what do you do against Priest's beefy minions or 4/12 Legendaries like Ysera? Priest just bubbles and divine spirits their beefies and I don't have enough power to remove.
Fills the 3 slot, you're more likely to want to use hard removal on bigger creatures, and assassinate isn't a 4/2 :)
BGH is a 3 drop+minion on board. so you get the clear and the possibility of more damage/buffing opportunities
Same story for me here. Went down to rank 11 from 6 in eu servers.
Im starting to think that ppl are recommending these decks so that they can get legend while others are wasting time + dust.
Definitely. It's a really good fit, you just have to decide what to replace. I personally don't have VanCleef so I put in a Conceal instead. Just because this guy did the deck this way doesn't mean there's not a better variation, or a variation that fits better with your play style.
Love this deck works pretty well, but sometimes to slow, what would you change for the current meta of big blokkers and zoo?
- 1 shiv +1 Fan of Knives, -1 Big game hunter +1 Black Knight? what about that lonely loothoarder no other Legendary or anticard that could be considered?
How would subbing out hoarder and 2 preps for leeroy and 2 shadow steps do? both combos in the deck and shadowstep synergizes well with drake/SI7/BK/Earthen Ring
if you want to put leeroy in you might as well play the standard Miracle Rogue deck. Also, the preps are amazing in this deck when you play them in combo with Malygos and spells like eviscerate or blade flurry.
Yeah, Ramp druids are really popular now because of Gaara winning Dreamhack. I've also been having trouble against the taunts, but you can throw in Black Knight in replacement of BGH. Or if you're on a budget you might have to make due with a second sap.
Rogue is my second deck and i really enjoy this deck. I replaced the big game hunter with another loot hoarder for more card draw so I can put out more burst. I find it rare that i actually need the BGH
Thanks for the thoughful decklist, guide and mulligan spreadsheet!
I'm curious about a couple of things. The first, would you suggest any changes in a Ramp-heavy environment, particularly as a response to Gaara's list? I find if they can get a strong curve going it's difficult to deal with the particular minions these decks use efficiently. Secondly, what would you say are the deck's strongest and weakest matchups in the current meta?
Definitely run a second sap. TBK could be ok too.
Sorry how do you read Mulligan?
Wtf... I gained so much rank with an all basic card deck in EU to the point where I concluded EU is 99% terrible player / new players, how on earth could you not gain ranking with a deck like this?
if no bloodmage toss in another loot hoarder id say the early card draw is stronger, and a questing adventurer for vancleef should be fine
Heard Atak coaching Hafu with this deck on her stream last night. Can't wait for him to get his own!
