Hi, I'm FLX and this is my Shaman deck. I used it in the previous season to get to rank 9, practically undefeated as I don't play that much. It also got me to the last 8 in a ManaGrind EU Open tournament.
More importantly, Shaman is by far the most fun to play class.
The deck can be played in a couple of different ways, but a fact is that once you gain early control you almost certainly will win. Mulligan for Argent Squires and Flametongue Totems, as this combination will wreck most early games. Unbound Elementals and lightning bolts can also be kept, and against certain other hero's (Warriors, Warlocks and Paladins), I like to keep a Hex. Against agrro, you may want to keep Lightning Storm.
The finishing blow can be achieved in multiple ways. Al'Akir the Windlord + Rockbiter Weapon will give you 12 or 18 Damage, Doomhammer + Rockbiter Weapon can deal 10 or 16. Last but not least there is, of course, the Bloodlust, which single handedly wins about 1 in 10 games.
I hope you enjoy this deck. Please rate it if you do. If you want to see me play this deck, you can follow my stream on www.twitch.tv/FLXv
Edit: this deck will be played in the upcoming ManaGrind EU tournaments, strating Sunday April 20th.
First of all, thanks for trying out the deck. I have an enourmous amount of trouble playing against Zoo decks, just like you. It is simply a bad matchup, that pretty muck requires us to draw two lightning storms early (plus some Earth Shocks). Unfortunately, Zoo is still a major part of the meta just like midrange Hunter. Luckily, the Hunter has no chance against us (currently at 81% winrate against midrange Hunter).
I play alot of totems, except against Hunters. I need them for my early game and eventually they help with the finishing blow. Try setting yourself up so there's a flametongue on the board the round before you play al'akir, that really helps. Finally, you may want to change out the Bloodlust for an Earth Elemental when you keep facing Warlock Zoo.
it's very easy vs zoo, you just doing everything wrong! you dont need storm in your hand at start! all you need squire+flame totem+shok+lighting bolt! dont you ever keep feral spirits or storm! they will not help you cuz of overload! you think you got storm and you win? no! you should use it when your opponent is out of cards or you had several strong cards on board... squire first, when he answer you with taunt or juggler go for flame totem and kill it
can this deck really compete in high rank? this deck is really really slow.
It's actually not that slow. As with all Shaman decks, early minions are hard to come by, but this gets compensated by totems, argent squires, flame tongues, ferals and lots of early removal.
how can i play this in early game if i cant get low drop like argent squire etc.
and i notice the deck hardly have anything to play on turn 4 to 6 either due to early overlord or totally nothing to play at 4 drop other then hero power for totem.
i still cant find where im playing it wrong. is there video ppl playing this deck? i would love to see. help will be very much appreciated.:)
overloaded spells aren't the only way to deal with zoos.. try to use others as well. And use axe instead of hammer if face too many zoos.
While I disagree on the inclusions of Loot Hoarders and Leper Gnomes (especially Lepers), I do like the Faceless pick. If you decide to run that, I'd swap it for one of the DoA or one of the Unbounds though.
Blood Knight is the card you mean, and I have almost never encountered it in ranked.
Nice deck, I use a similar one running a windfury instead of bloodlust and leeroy instead of one DoA. Same purpose but bloodlust loses it's value when I have under 2-3 minions so I prefer windfury to combo with rockbitter/flametongue finisher.
For the sole purpose of defeating Hunters, I can see Rag work. Not for much else though (in this deck), because he can't attack and therefore doesn't contribute as much to directed burst damage.
Just swap Gadgetzan Auctionner for a Violet Teacher.
I like the deck, but I'm not a huge fan of Al-Akir. Is he a necessity, or can he be replaced with something cheaper? Maybe even just put Lava burst in instead?
Hi, Al'Akir can be replaced by a couple of cards. Thetreuseedub suggested below here you can play a Knife Juggler or Mana Tide Totem for more early game control or card draw. This can also be achieved by putting in a second Gadgetzan Auctioneer. If you want the same effect as Al'Akir the Windlord but for a lower amount of mana, I'd suggest Leeroy Jenkins or an Argent Commander.
Hey, thanks. I think I like the idea of more early game control, so I'm going to try this with Knife Juggler and see how it goes.
literally just Tides' deck with Bloodlust instead of Knife Juggler and worse commentary.
Thanks for your constructive criticism.. don't you feel it's quite a difference for the deck when these cards are exchanged? We could have a meaningful discussion about which way works better (hint: I like the Bloodlust), or find out even better alternatives. This however, does not seem to add much value to this page.
Well...I'm not sure it's necessary to have a new deck build page dedicated to every minor variance of a deck. I think that's what he was getting at as well.
If it's only a matter of swapping out 2 cards...why not just have that discussion on the relative deck build page instead? That seems much more productive, no?
I posted the Tides deck, and what I have to say is that the game is constantly evolving. Why not post slight variations to see if others agree that the version is superior? Oddly enough, this is the exact deck I have been running my last 80 or so games and the variation I think I have settled on running. The change of Knife Juggler to Bloodlust between Tide's and this deck may seem petty, but I am constrained to posting the deck used by Tides himself - so I am rather limited and can only provide suggestions from experience in the commentary (outdated now). Personally, although I am no legend player, I feel that the Bloodlust switch should be higher rated and more widely used because it seems to win more games than any other variation I have tried. +1
i don't feel like i should have to provide constructive criticism on a copy of another person's deck where we could have a conversation. Knife Juggler and Bloodlust do vastly different things for the deck. one provides early game control and board presence, and the other provides late game finishing power if you blew both Rockbiter Weapons or Al'Akir the Windlord / Doomhammer for your finisher. i don't believe it's correct to replace the juggler, for if you play properly, his value far outweighs the bloodlust's value.
I would've mentioned it if I had copied this deck from Tides. In fact, if I had seen it, I probably wouldn't have posted it here at all. However, I do feel variations of existing decks should have their own place. As you said, the base of every shaman deck is, or should be, fairly straightforward. This means that the details count. I merely posted this deck as I didn't see a lot of Bloodlust use.
It's by no means a great invention or something extremely original. It's just a deck that works for me.
Just beat a warrior with this deck, coming back from a 34 vs 2 health game.. Bloodlust was insane.
Thanks for sharing!
