2017-12-12 After a few days of playtesting with Kobold and Candles cards.
Call to Arms has proven to be a great addition to the deck. This card thins out your deck, with a good chance of summoning Bluegill Warrior.
As suggested by lullerz, I put Finja, the Flying Star back in because playtesting has shown that I wasn't seeing Old Murk-Eye consistently without a way to search for him. The chance of getting a non-charging Murloc from Anyfin is worth the tradeoff. Cutting him was definitely a mistake.
I cut Getaway Kodo because it's easy for the opponent to play around it, and it ends up just clogging up my hand. With only 2 kinds of secrets in the deck, Mysterious Challenger isn't being played for full value anymore, so I cut them for Mad Scientist. He still does the function of thinning out secrets from the deck, while synergizing with Call to Arms.
I also cut Tirion Fordring. I couldn't survive long enough against aggro decks, and if I get the chance to play him on turn 8, he is too easily answered.
I cut Uther of the Ebon Blade. He's cool and all, but he just doesn't fit the game plan. I need healing from his weapon much earlier. And if I could win with summoning horsemen, that means I was already winning anyway. On turns 8 and 9, I should be playing the murloc, beast, and dragon that I drew with The Curator, setting up my Anyfin.
Because I need healing much earlier, Wickerflame Burnbristle comes back in. He can provide massive heals, especially if you curve into Blessing of Kings.
Play Tips:
Pulling him with Finja on Turn 6 (or Turn 5 with the coin), will result in a huge tempo swing if you trade, Desperate Stand and trade again with his minions.
Bonemare is probably a good fit, but I don't know what to cut for it. Spikeridged steed is already doing its job.
Maybe I should cut the secrets package altogether? Zola the Gorgon could be worth a slot.
finja pulls out SPECIFIC minions - murlocs that are key to getting consistency with anyfin. I would cut a warleader before cutting finja. Cutting warleader might be wrong too, the murloc package needs a certain number of murlocs.
Consider cutting avenge or some of the other secrets - too easy for an enemy to play around once they see you play a mrgl.
Thank you, your assessment is correct and my playtesting has verified it. I wasn't seeing Old-Murk Eye as consistently anymore. Cutting Finja was a mistake. I updated the deck.
I like this deck, but need more consistency, I suggest remove sacred trial and the illuminators.
At my current meta, Hunter is the deck's weakest matchup and Illuminators really help that matchup.
If you don't like the Illuminator package, you can do this:
-2 Illuminator
-1 Sacred Trial
-1 Coghammer
+2 Muster for Battle
+2 Solemn Vigil
Muster for Battle will help contest the board in the early game. It also gives you tokens to run into opposing minions to help heavily discount Solemn Vigil. And more card draw for a combo deck doesn't hurt.
